Seriously though. Guys, can't you see? We gained a staff member! All that's happening is: Walrus was going two roles, but now someone else is doing one of them. Walrus is still here.

I can't wait to see what Raijnn can do. Good luck both of you!

Yeah, i thought about that earlier, we've in fact gained a permanent staff member. Surely thats a good thing? Surely that means SOE is taking us more seriously? I mean as i understand it Raij is one of the big soe community dawgs, just check the post counts for all the other games.

Oh and Zero, no worries, me and Rare already pwnd the DC bull ^.^
#36300204670 04/03/2007 03:37:23 Re:A Special The Other Side of the Looking Glass - April 2, 2007
I pwned it better... not.

And wasn't Raijinn around before? Why does that say SOE gives more dmn if it's not the first time he comes here? Confused.
#36300204688 04/03/2007 04:07:57 Re:A Special The Other Side of the Looking Glass - April 2, 2007
Well that was.....yeah totally unexpected, there i was thinking it was something nice like an increase in Red Frags or a new Trial.

Personally I can't see things getting better as I know certain members of the comunity are still going to be favourates by Joel. So I expect them to be pulling favours soon. I hope for the sake MxO he overcomes this favouritism in his new role.

Walrus your the man, you have replied to almost every anoying PM I sent you and as people have said your the rock of MxO but I can this move benifiting you and the comunity in respect of production of MxO. Its just a shame that you will be sharing your time with another game.

Before he was just chillin, you know, watchin the game.

Now, like Walrus said, he's all official and stuffs.
#36300204700 04/03/2007 04:17:29 Re:A Special The Other Side of the Looking Glass - April 2, 2007
Well I can't say I'm terribly happy.. I know technically I should be, for various reasons, but to see the Walrus take a step away from us hurts me deep in my whiskers.  I must admit I don't know this Raijinn from a block of cheddar cheese but after seeing him misspell 'proverbial' I can't say I'm very confident about his arrival.  On the other hand, if he achieves any of the things we hope he will, well maybe it's good news for MxO after all.  I guess it's one of those things where you have to take it on the chin and hope for the best.

Raijinn, I'd suggest you take a moment to read some of the more controversial topics that have been stored away so that you can really understand just how passionate we are and what exactly you've gotten yourself into here.  Don't hesitate to ask the opinions and advice of Walrus, Rarebit, Jurymen, or anyone else who is regularly involved with us.  Best of luck.

Walrus, I know I should be wishing the best for you in your next project - it's a big thing - but I can't shake that greed.  We know exactly how good you are, and like a favourite pair of shoes, you never let us down.  To have to trade in for some flashy new sneakers leaves us with that feeling of 'well they're great and all, but just not the same'.  On the bright side, maybe you can continue to work your way up the SOE ladder until you're somewhere you can authorise us some serious marketing budget? Huh? huh? I thought so.  Come back often Walrus.  No one ever truly leaves MxO, they just go AFK.

Edit: Formatting.

Good luck in your endeavors Walrus.

Raijin I was not a member of the community during your previous stint here, so I was not privy to all that had occured.  I have however been told of the history and have looked up the relevant posts I could find about it.  I hope that lessons have been learned and that this time around a better job will be done.  You will be closely watched by many due to the previous events.

That having been said, welcome back to the community I'll see you around.

#36300205087 04/03/2007 10:09:56 Re:A Special The Other Side of the Looking Glass - April 2, 2007

So it has finally happend eh? SOE still wanted you to do the work of two people but you stuck it to them and said no more, that you need a hand. I am happy for both you and Joel. This is a big step up for you Walrus with the new project and the much needed time in the Producing role for MxO.

This is just the new drama of the week for some people, but I personaly see good things coming from this. If you are really serious about jotting down ideas for improvment and actually seeing what can be done, I have a few things to add.

1. Get the silly QA server back up and running and get us in there with some of the QA peeps to figure out how to fix these blasted game bugs.

2. Make sure the DT lag stays away.

3. Forums have issues, listen to DA.

4. Do not be a stranger, I expect that for the first week or two you will be very vocal on the forums but dont let that slip after a month or two, we like hearing from the big wigs about whats going on.

5. Check with the QA team and pull all the /bug petitions that have been filed, and go see if they have gone through the Older ones first cause I could have sworn I bugged the stuffing out of those Double elevator doors in Magog (most of you know which ones im talking about) like a year ago.

6. Sexy parties

7. ...

8. Rule the world.

Edit cause i cant spell (wheres the spell checker on this thing??)

You know what this game needs right now? I tell you...

Ninjas! Yup thats what we need lots and lots of Ninjas all over the simulation. Put them in the buildings, on the roofs and hiding in the trees. Give them throwing stars, swords and blow darts. They aggro onto any one that comes within 5 meters and they pwn everyone, even other npcs.  SMILEY

Besides that I just laugh like a crazy clown in a bozo circus. SMILEY

Take care Wally

Yeah... some people can't read all that well..

"I will still be overseeing production of MxO, so I'm not going away completely. However, I'm handing over the reins of community managemen..."

He's still the official Producer of MxO, probably until he finds his new digs in whatever new game they're coming up with..

So all your wishlist stuff still has to go through him, and thus, still has the same success rate...which so far, looking back on history, isn't all that hot. ;)

Walrus: Thanks for everything you've done for the game and the community thus far, and best wishes on your new position.  I would say this is the beginning of the end, but seeing how SOE just invested in a year's worth of voice-overs, I don't think that's going to happen.

Raijinn: You know you have big flippers to fill SMILEY, but hopefully you'll have more time to do it.  I think things will work out fine.

#36300206235 04/04/2007 10:34:37 Re:A Special The Other Side of the Looking Glass - April 2, 2007
There seems to be a bit of confusion with where Walrus is, lots of people are mentioning that he's leaving the MxO team and moving to DC. This isn't the case at all folks, he'll be the producer for MxO as well as an unannounced title from the Seattle studio. This is a great opportunity for him to concentrate on making sure the games he's looking out for have what they need to be successful.

Let me tell ya...some of the conversations he must have had as a Community Manager/Producer must have been down right difficult.

So in all fear not, we're all in this together as a community. I'll do my best for you guys and gals and I'll try to get some new features up on DN1 daily.

...And I believe Walrus would say "Thanks for the oysters"...not clams...SMILEY

I'm still working on some details with the features, it's really in the planning stages. I think more features that highlight the community as a whole and show off how cool you folks are is something that I want to start with.

Perhaps more fan submitted content like tours of different areas within Mega City? Maybe showing off player run parties with a recap (player provided) and posting that up on DN1? There's a bunch of stuff that can be done.

Dude,

There's an entire thread with MxO art in it. It's in the RSI section of the boards. I dunno if you've seen it, but there are some awesome drawings in there.

Just about every MMO I've seen has a section on there front page dedicated to fan art.

You could use that thread as a fan art section on DN1.
I would ask if any one would not like there art put up there, before you do.

The fan art that the MxO players create are some of the best anywhere that I have seen. We actually have a Fan Art page for MxO at this link http://fanart.station.sony.com/?pag...amp;gallery=mxo. I think it would be nice to have a link to that on the front page. Perhaps we should even feature the new art once it goes into the gallery just to get the visibility up for it.

It does take a bit more time to get a bunch of art approved through WB though, so please do keep that in mind.

Walrus, never actually got to know you but I always enjoyed reading your posts, and of course TOSOTLG. Your humor and upbeat attitude never fail to bring a smile and honestly I'll miss that, regardless of the fact that you'll still be around in the background, producing away SMILEY

Still, I'm glad you're not wearing two hats anymore, and that we have our very own (kind of, but sharing is cool tooSMILEY ) community guru. Big welcome back to Raijinn, I look forward to seeing what you come up with, and have every confidence that you'll rise to the occasion.

P.S. - I second the motion on boxers. As well as the bug fixes & all that, but boxers are just too effing sexy, need them in game. Hehe but seriously (well, not that I'm not serious about the boxers...), I love the ideas you've mentioned, and if you get some guides set up that would be sweet!

I think if we can get more content actually into the Website like the Guides, Player Events, Fan Art, Movies, Images, etc...we will start building up something that was long needed, and if we can get permanent trial keys, that would be cool too =P.

What happened on this site just recently is progress imo compared to the past.

That is a very needed thing for the website: the original, white layout from years past.
