Ok, I know the OOC reasons for us being stuck at 50.
Why are we all peaking at 50? Why are 'important' people at 55? Whats the IC reason that we can't get to 51?

There is no ingame reason, as many of the conventions of the game are ignored in the story. The only possible answer I have for you is that many of these people are before the time of MxO and are veterans and experts in the Matrix.
Another possible answer is that they're level of skill is just naturally higher than ours, or that they've exceeded the average level of skill for a redpill.
But like I said, there is no ingame explanation
I have to concur, while there may not be a specific ingame reason as to why there are certain folks who rise above the rest. Story wise it seems perfectly fitting, there have always been people in history that simply exceed above everyone else.
Now in the world of the Matrix, don't forget that the story we watch in the movie is centered around people who are legendary in the Matrix, folks such as Morpheus, Trinity, even Niobe and Ghost. Not all redpills are created equal, the story we get to watch in the movie is about the redpills who do what other redpills only ever dream of doing. I mean, the difference, between the legends and ourselves as redpills is like the difference between Ballard and Seraph (ETM reference there).

I always joked thatit took me so long to make to 50 that by the time I did they would have raised the cap
