In an effort to find out why it does this, I've been testing it. I don't know if anyone else found out why, but I think it's because you take damage inbetween the ability being queued and it going off.

What exactly do you mean by "Abilities turning off"?

Do you mean moves like Dual Pistol Execution taking up your IS and looking like it's going to go off, then doing nothing and wasting a timer?

This can happen to anyone and it's hard to say what might be causing this bug.
It's when you activate a special in interlock,  and it goes into queue (blinking red) but never locks in or goes through.
Sometimes activating a special on a different family timer will fix it.

no i think what roukans talking about is where you que an anbility, it gives the locked in animation (green crosshairs) but your opponanats attack goes through and you see the red failed attack icon over the ability, it has happend to me on far to manyoccasions in pvp and duels SMILEY

Example: You click Dual Pistol Execution in interlock in a pvp moment. Zionist A is shooting at you from outside, and hits you twice before the round ends. The next round starts, and the ability flashes but doesn't fail or succeed, and takes IS.

From speculation: It's either server lag not recognizing you pressed the ability, or it's the damage turning it off.

Oh tht's a bug I've seen in MA too (tho very rarely). The worst case is if all ur abilities constantly do that. They shud fix it when ppl have queued and ability and get powerless or stun or tht happens not to lose IS!

Ooh I think this happens to me a lot when trying to do the Tomo Nage thing from Aikido! I thought maybe I was doing something wrong but sometimes it works and sometimes it just stops! SMILEY

if you mean where you hit an ability it shows that it's gonna take up IS in the IS bar, but doesn't attack so you have this little orange bit in yer IS bar then I wouldn't have thought it's due to damage interuption. I don't think it affects abilities that you have lined up so I would think it's either server lag or a bug with the UI

No orange bit. Just takes IS.

I had the same problem with Tomo Nage.  The special went all green, I did the animation, but no damage was done and that round of interlock didn't even show up in the system window.  I tried to get it to happen again, but couldn't reproduce the problem.

I hate this bug. I have no idea how to reproduce it though but from what I've seen it happens when I click another special in 1 round. Don't know if that's the reason because most of the times it just switches properly and the special I actually want to use lines up and starts blinking.

I've noticed this bug A LOT more today. On both my recursion characters. In the morning, Machine Gun Kick wouldn't work at all. Not once. Then it was Wooden Dummy drill. On my alt, Guard Breaker didn't want to go off.

It's like it cancels itself right before it's supposed to show whether it worked or not.

I agree, and its affecting more and more things. When levelling my alt my consumables stopped working (Pills, boosters, Stakes, water and silver bullets).

Now abils don't even bother to register. I click on it and nothing, I mean NOTHING happens. No IS drain, no flashing symbol, NOTHING. It's as if the abil wasn't even being clicked on. At first I thought it was my hotbar but I can't even activate them from the abilities menu. And once they are bugged like this the only way to get them back is to relog. The REALLY annoying thing is if I click on the abil when it is greyed out (IE using Aerial takedown when they aren't off balance) it will tell me that I can't use it because a certain criteria isn't being met.

*CENSORED*?!?!?!

Can SOMEONE please tell me whats wrong.

It definitely seems to be gotten worse. I couldn't launch any viral attacks in interlock yesterday (none! It didn't work!). When I switched to duelist less than half of the time I was lucky enough for a special to actually launch.

I was in Creston dungeon yesterday, and halfway through it Punt just turned off.  I could click on it and absolutely nothing would happen (all my other abilities that required sneak or disguise worked fine).  After about 10 minutes, I was able to use it again.

My guess it would be from whatever lag is in the area, but it doesn't make since since I normally run 100ms. Me still thinks it has to do with damage.

I've been dealing with this issue as well.  A few points:

  • Like mentioned above the ability is selected, blinks, and then just as it's about to either go solid (a hit) or grey out with flashing red (a miss) it simply just turns off.  I mean it stops flashing and the corrisponding conventional attack is used (Speed, Power, Grab) based on what is selected.
  • My consumables have also been effected by this issue as well.
  • Death or time seems to reset the problem.
  • Also it's not just the GUI because I tried /invoke [AbilityName] and the same thing happens.

This is a funamental flaw in the combat system and needs to be fixed ASAP.  No excuses.

This doesn't affect just your hotbar. Even using consumables by double clicking them in your inventory or using abils from the abilities menu can break them.

And it seems to occur randomly, sometimes the abil breaks right away, sometimes I get several uses out of it before it breaks.

I can't find a way to actually repro it, though it happens quite frequently. It's especially annoying in PvP.

Exact same thing happened to me. I ended up using Reverse Bull Dog though - I don't know if that was on the same timer as Punt so I coudn't really test it.

There was a non helpful error message when it happens. I think it was the "You're target must not be facing you while using that ability..." or something like that.

Now almost ALL my karate abs don't stick properly since UP50. My MGK is totally messed up as sky high sidekick. Devs if you make me wait 6 weeks for a fix tell me now so I can cancel my subscribtion during tht time.

code nike 3.0 wouldnt activate in interlcok, just starts flashing then turns off.

works without a hitch out of interlock, so it seems that interlock is the problem not the abilites

Great now I can't even IL properly in a average (not HUGE) pvp at mara c with 5 ppl. When I IL just says Target already tryes to enter combat and nothing happens and we both are standing looking like this =O

I don't think its linked to any specific abilities, the only common factor is that they are all used in IL or result in you entering IL. OOL they are fine but for some reason in IL they just don't work.

In order for them to fix it, as we've been told countless times, is to /bug it ingame everytime it happens with what you were doing at the time. You could go furthur and explain your ms, your exact loadout, and various other things. Keep posting here, but /bug'ging it is most important.

Yeah this issue seems to have become bigger after the last patch, i've found Dual Pistol Execution is the worst for it, as per usual.

Punt i've found is pretty bad for it also.

Alas I have killed two theories today
1) Damage from outside interlock interrupting/killing ability
doesn't look like it
I was in 1 on 1 interlock, no one around to provide outside damage, and lost machine gun kick

2)something else on family timer restting
Sky-High Sidekick does a family timer for machine gun kick, but did not help
Using it as a finishing move in interlock and it came back.

I was trying to farm Tengu with an alt.

This is how it went.

  • Ran up and shot at him in grab tactics, missed.
  • IL, grab tactics for a few rounds until off balance.
  • Change to speed and click on Aerial takedown (This was the first time I tried to use it, I literally logged on and went straight to Sakura).
  • Nothing happens, the number didn't flash, no IS was put in reserve for it, nothing, it was if I wasn't even clicking on it.
  • I kept trying and still nothing happened, eventually the symbol in my hotbar went gray and I was still clicking on it in frustration. Now that it was gray every time I clicked on it it told me "Target must be off balance for you to use Aerial Takedown on them".
THAT is the annoying part, the fact it tells you you can't do it but when you can it doesn't let you.

Dual Pistol Execution stopped working for meh.
So right now I can't use hacks in interlock and DPE doesn't work either. It's extremely annoying!

Indeed, was dueling yesterday and every time I hit Suicidal Butterfly or Iron Guard it just flashed red and then flashed off, didn't miss, didn't hit, didn't trigger.

Sniper shot and some other handgun abs have been randomly switching themselves off alot more lately, too. And concealment breaking seems to have increased since the patch. Not sure what is causing this break but its very frustrating!

ok I've just really had this problem a lot today.

  1. activated in the Hotbar
  2. flashes till the decision moment and turns off
  3. doesn't show how much IS will be removed when activated
  4. completely random with no pattern whatsoever and can happen with almost any abilities
  5. solved with a relog

these are the points I've found to be 100% accurate.

^^I think it has something to do with using the block tactic.  This happens when im using block and for whatever reason interlock pauses and kicks both opponents out of interlock.  The system gets stuck on block even though you have selected another tactic.  Only way to fix it is to relog.  An easy way to test this is to fight Gargoyle in Widows Moor.  Interlock breaks so often there that using block can cause this bug almost every time.

Ive run into the problem pack-hunter mentioned way before update 50.  It might be worse now for some but the problem has always been there.

Oh yeah, i know it's been around for a while like i said in an earlier post before the update. Where abilities would blink red and not go through, now they don't even blink red they just turn off. Thats why i think it has something to do with the spam fix.

It seems that the timer bug from early Live has been fixed. I wish they'd put these things in the Patch Notes... first the /invoke exploit, now this one.. posting that things that need to be fixed are fixed only shows that the dev team is doing something SMILEY

Just tested all over Megacity in varying conditions of lag, it seems that the doubling abilities/break family timers bug is gone.

I have noticed this too. If you are using a special attack and the IL bug occurs where both players are kicked out of IL, any special attack you had cued up at the time breaks and cannot be used until you relog.

On a further note I went to farm Tengu again and had no problems at all. Farmed him for a few hours without a single ability bugging out on me.

We've repro'd it. What we've found is this happens to abilities that require a state effect on your target. If the state wears off after the ability is activated, but before it is queued, the ability no longer works. You can try and activate it again, but all you get is a few blinks, then nothing.

If you use an ability with a state-requirement and it fails with the message that the target has to be in X state to use this ability, that's when this issue arises. It has been seen before, but for some reason is more prevalent recently.

We'll hotfix this as soon as we can get a fix for it.

Doesnt match up with my experiences in Widows Moor so I think theres more to it but its progress.  Ill be in Widows Moor with one of my alts soon enough so ill give it a good testing.

But its not just state requiring attacks. I am having hax in IL fail. They don't require states, but they just randomly stop working.
