Too many people would leave i think whether it was hostile, or non-hostile. While i like the idea of it drowning out a lot of the idiots on vector....i do like hostile

I really don't see the immediate benefit of merging the servers, past there being more players on at all times of course. If that's the whole point of the argument then I don't think it's enough to warrant a merge.

No, unfortunately I have not. When and where (and how often) are they? I fully acknowledge my opinion is uninformed. The real question is though, is that a good thing or a bad thing for new players? And therefore is that also a bad thing for the game?
P.S. I'm on Vector but have started a character on Recursion and do notice more people (which is fun!)

It is only a hang over from old style technological limitations and inflexible mmo lore that ever arrives at the idea of multiple servers, one day people will look back on it and laugh. No server curently offers the full versatility of this game and a merge could easily expand the diversity of the game for one and all - moreover it would ensure a single consistent story delivered in its more efficient form by let and lesig.
LAG is the big issue that needs resolving first but already we hear the three instances occupy the same hardware and already we know that for the most part lag exists in the total absence of population..... the problem can be resolved and the entire population of mxo past present and future can be accomodated. Server predjudice remains our second biggest stumbling block, are we big enough to tackle it?
Even though this won't be an option, I still would vote for it.

Our communities and play styles are too different and would never work together.
If you insist on merging servers and then having some districts be hostile, then some districts will have to have enforced RP.

No. Making a certain district permanently hostile forces limitations on Roleplayers (and people just trying to level up and play the game). I like International, I like Downtown and I like to roleplay there and know that some idiot isn't going to come and kill me for a pathetically useless CQ. If the three servers merged and they made the world hostile, or even on the non-hostlile servers they made districts hostile, i'd quit the game tomorrow, and once i tell a few friends, that under normal surcumstances would be back should SOE decide to get the priorities of this game straight, would never come back at all since they hate pvp and hate having to play in a 100% hostile environment.

I could go with Recursion and Syntax being merged, but I wouldn't want to see all three merged with that one becoming a hostile server, 1.) because that would increase the lag problem tenfold, and 2.) I'm not a PvPer, outside of a pitched battle as part of a Live Event, so I *DON'T* want to have to deal with 12-year olds coming up to me and ILing me when I'm trying to talk to someone.
Also, making International a hostile district? No. I go there to get away from the kiddies in Richland and to run my crits.

Not if handeled right. If they made certain districts perma-pvp, then Vectorites have nothing to fret. For instance, everyone pvp's in Mara anyway, so that could be set to perma-pvp, or we could just fight somewhere else for once to make things interesting.
I think anything like that would just ruin the Vector experience. The whole point of Vector is that you are ALWAYS vulnerable to attack; there is practically nowhere to escape. There's 1 non-hostile club and some org bases, but that's it. If entire districts of the city became non-hostile, then players would hang out in those areas more and it would no longer feel like Vector at all. Choosing to go to the Hostile region is like choosing to flag up, which violates the spirit of Vector - there never is a choice.
Yeah, you're right. However, it's something that would need to be sacrificed if a merge would to occur.

As someone already posted a few weeks ago, there should be a portal for characters to visit all the worlds. Such as merging R and S, and a portal to V. That way you could visit the hostile world without being stuck there. Apparently there are lots of people who don't want to be flagged just because of their age and have their gameplay/story interfered with all the time as we have now on Vector. If each character can visit each world as they wish, it will eliminate that problem. But the lag in downtown on all the servers must be fixed, regardless. It's really hard to do missions downtown because the response time is so slow.

A merge would be good but only to 2 servers. However the problem is that its Vector that needs the people and not the non hostile servers so the merge would only work if Recursion/syntax and Vector merged to a hostile server, however then non hostile players would be hostile even though they picked against it so it just wouldnt work.
