I had just a little idea pop into my head the other day while watching the Osiris (Animatrix) flick. The female lead in the flick jacks in to drop the information on the Machines digging their way to Zion. She does all her fancy stuff, then bumps into an elderly bluepill (we need some variants on bluepills!) and drops the information into a mailbox.
In-game, we currently always take said item (or whatever), to so and so with a silly name. It would be kinda neat/cool to have the waypoint lead us to a mailbox every once in a while for someone else to pick up. Like maybe during a courier mission you have to take this or that to so and so and then to finish you drop the item or whatever in a mailbox to be picked up later by whomever. (The last part there the player never see's as it marks the end of the mission).
Thoughts?

The thing is, every phase or part of a mission has to take place inside a mission area. So when you think of it like that, we already have some use of this idea; I've done numerous missions where you take a specific object and plant it in a desk for instance. But I agree that we could use some expansion of this idea. For example schools, transport centres and postal offices, which can be accessed both normally and during missions, that contain lockers and boxes and such that can be used as 'drop points' during missions.

Yeah it would be nice if missions made use of more objects in the game. Maybe a new mission objective could be put in place where you have to use the subway to get to the next location because you would be tracked if you use the hardlines or something. A waypoint will show the way to the right subway so you don't have to memorise the routes. This means the subway system will be used more often.

Sounds great. But don't get your hopes up. The current mission system is unable to support "Outside" mission points. They must occur within a building (currently defined mission area - mission areas cannot be defined in the "outside" maps ). The mission system also cannot handle mission locations that span two districts (so you cannot have one objective in Richland and another in International.
Sadly, I don't think the devs. have any plans to try and alter the mission system as it'd be too time consuming and too complex (it'd be a major rewrite of key code).

Variety is Key. I keep saying that in every thread about anything. Variety is Key.

A more variety of missions is good.
I do remember one... if not several devs saying that they avoid tinkering with the mission system because of how finicky it is.
But of course one day they will do it, I think they are just focusing on extra content right now, because doing missions can only be... so much of a challenge.
