Hello, and welcome to the "Ask the devs an MXO question" thread, version 2! This is where you can ask a question relating to MXO, and have us respond with an answer of some sort. Ground rules:

1) Only the first question after the last dev/admin reply will be considered. This means that if I make a post, then Player1 makes a post with a question, and then Player2 makes a post with a question, only Player1's question will be answered. Player2's post might even be deleted to keep the thread clean (*makes mental note to remind self to beg Walrus for post-deleting power*). Player2 will have to try again later!

2) This also means that if Player1's post contains two questions, only the first question will be answered

3) Keep in mind that it is community/designer people we have here, so don't expect anything other than obviously made-up answers to highly technical programmy questions.

4) The answer to most "why isn't [feature] in the game" questions is "because we don't have the budget for it." So you might not want to waste your chance at an answer on a question like that.

5) On the other hand, questions about quirky MXO things are encouraged! Why is Ghost bald now? What does Walrus keep on the wall of his cubicle? The answers to these and other such questions could be yours

6) We may not know the answer to a question, or we just may not be able to answer it for some reason. But we will, at least, say that we don't have the answer, which is sort of an answer, in a way.

7) Responses may not be timely, because we may hard at work on something, such as sleeping. Please have patience, and do not spam the thread.

8) We can't answer questions relating to future releases!

9) We can't answer questions relating to story spoilers.

10) Questions that have been edited are automatically disqualified!

11) We can't answer questions regarding specifics of SOE staff; we also can't answer questions that really belong to other SOE departments, such as Marketing or Customer Service.

Answering that question

Muma was one of the guys who looked like Morpheus and code bombed places back in the day. He had several alliases all of the names he or his look alikes went by were gods of sleep. He poped up after Morpheus bought the farm.

New question!!!

Ah. I kind of figured.

I sorta had fun on Recursion (it went better than that Syntax meeting, man alive!), but I hear some people didn't dig the RP-only nature of that event, so live events are cancelled!

If SOE were to sell MxO right now (hypothetically speaking), and you'd get the choice to either work on the game HCFrog works on or move to the new company and keep working on MxO - what would you choose?

RAWR the only event vector had all week was on monday and that was for the mervs in a niobe meeting!

Little babies are crying.... And i go back to school on wednesday which means mxo time cut in half.

Anyways nice V2.0 and lol count O-links question as future release lol.

And answer this one. IS it possible for you guys to maybe but a ladder or a pipeline on the government building in parkeast? SMILEY i think i t would be fun to climb and slide down that thing lol. Maybe put two next to eachother for races and what not....

I am intoxicated, therefor I will post in this thread out of turn, and cause its post numbers to rise. Along with my own post count. Now a question that Rarebit isnt obliged to answer cause its not in the right order, but I will post anyways to see if he does, cause he has before.

Of all the things that have happend to MxO, what thing do you regret the most? (the SOE buyout cant be your answer, besides that.)

Well, I think MXO is cooler than the other game, so all other things being more or less equal, I'd want to stay with it.

Yeah, it was incredibly slow to load on these new forums. I had kept it going, thinking that this would somehow inspire the web d00dz miraculously to solve the performance issue in long threads here, but I suppose we have to be realistic about these things.

Walrus said that it was something to do with giving away prizes--that Legal and Marketing have reasons for steering clear of sending prizes overseas, or something. I don't really know. Walrus said that when we do this again we'll just skip the material prizes so that we don't have to have that kind of restriction on entries, because it sucks.

You mean theres a 7 page argument because of the prizes couldnt be sent oversea, phh im with you PBlade they were too tight to pay for P&P lol.  Dont you think you should have said that earlier, because this is just a guess, but some european people would just like to submit there ad without any reward, to see their art in game would be a prize in its self?

I got an interesting one for you Rarebit......one that confuses some of the people I know and myself.

If the org areas are made to be for factions...and lets say an entire faction is more than 6 people...

Obviously we're going to invite kick invite to get the other members inside to fullfill the true purpose of these places. How are we protected against certain CSRs that shall not be named from irrationally flipping out about exploits.

Have you ever thought about making certain neighborhoods or buildings in other districts than Richland the definite location for a mission arc, or phase, to include their city content into the storyline, just as with Richland in the past?
I know, the lowbies. However, I guess it was also difficult for some to run to Camon Heights or Kedemoth back then, and I think having a special mission in a purple-conned area would be quite interesting for lower levels aswell.

although a few of those could be duplicates, and a few (particularly for Machines and Zion) might have minor variants that I didn't notice.

Are there any easter eggs in game that you know of and players haven't discovered yet?(Unlikely but still.)

You know like secret locations or / commands. For example in Everquest II there is a /cutemode command that gives everyone crazy big deformed anime heads. SMILEY

Oy! I really should beg Dracomet to make me a leet script that would do that for me. Hm I suppose I could do one in Perl... Eh. Anyway yeah, that was a ridiculously long battle. I started with the Health Regen amount that was just a smidge above what it was on the level 70 Unlimit Reactor who got killed on Syntax last week, and then I kept nudging it down... I was afraid that if I lowered it too drastically, Phinney would suddenly get pwned before I could do anything, which wouldn't be all that interesting. But for some reason I had to lower it to just over a third of what it was on Syntax, so...it took me a while to work it down that low. What was weird too was that it would seem to be okay--operatives would get her down to half health or so--but then she'd come back strong, and the regen would just heal her back up to full. So obviously I have a ways to go before I get good at finding a fast way to get a good regen level set for these battles.

Any progress on the reputation/ org hopping front?  I remember you mentioning a meeting where there was talk about losing a ton of rep for changing orgs by jumping ships and whatnot

Yeah, I think Dracomet kind of pounced on that one and took care of it. I don't know if QA has gone over it yet.

Hey Rarebit, in Uriah there is a Vendor named Pickman, Even though shes a woman, contrary to her name SMILEY she has a shirt that I've never seen on any other NPC before. My lazy friend who will remain nameless * Cough* Aquis *cough* Would like to know if it was possible to get a new weapon for MA called a handwrap. Since guns can inflict states in freefire he would like to know if it would be possible to intergrate handwraps that have a chance of doing states also like, Stun,confused ect.

Well I typed that quick, the idea being suggested was it was a wrap you put ony our hand that when you do MA mellee freefire theres a chance to inflict a state or do a little more damage ect.

Instead of talking about it on the forums they are most likely trying to find a solution first.
and i understand this but....would it kill someone at SOE to take 5 min to post a word or so and let us KNOW their working on it...on friday??!!  NO, i dont think it would.

Even a simple "sorry, Walrus' tusk balm dripped on the keyboard and fried the patch" type of thing .....

Would it be possible for high level players to access the earlier archives? Maybe lower their abilities/level whilst in the archive itself as not to make it unfair.
