Well there be a cap on the characters used in the Title, and can we have an option to not attach the replied message to the email we are replying to? Also as mentioned faction/crew emails and multi item attachments are a must.
However, its about time we finally got email. only took a year or so and 3 companies later

Clicking on a friend's name in the buddy list to send an email
Same from items in the inventory (click- send to ...)
Mass email to all faction members? maybe a captain or leader function.
Sent items saved too please.

Yes, all of those, plus signatures would be great.
#3590000017911/22/2005 16:21:52Re: Improving the Email system
I was thinking of that too. But it would probably take some time, but yeah these are a must.

E-mails should work like drops, too. We should have to take them to a mailbox to send them.

Definitely, an excellent suggestion from the 'GAME' point of view. from ours the rest are necesary updates to a good start.

Can't you be satisified with ANYTHING the devs give us?

I think this patch is a improvement and the email system is fine .
Thanks for the Memories MXO!

I am thouroughly satisified satisfied
and delighted, I already have my busy macro: (/reply I am busy, please
leave an email and I will get back to you as soon as possible). Helps
me a lot with the faction! The mail is one of the best things in mxo
now! But of course it can be improved
#3590000018511/23/2005 05:35:55Re: Improving the Email system
Heaven forbid that I make a typo, Gothique. And if I wanted to be nitpicky, I could go on about your incorrect use of a colon.
Anyway.
It just seems that ANY and ALL new elements that the devs introduce into the game spawns 50 billion threads started by you about how something can be "improved." I haven't seen one where you say, "Hey, Dev's, this stuff is great! Thanks!"
#3590000018611/25/2005 10:43:55Re: Improving the Email system

I'm satisfied with the email as is personally. As far as Gothiques multiple posts that suggest anything, keep 'em coming Goth! Bigger, better and faster!
#3590000018711/22/2005 22:10:27Re: Improving the Email system
I think it is fine, she just needs something else to complain about on the forums.
#3590000018811/22/2005 22:13:19Re: Improving the Email system
I think its almost fine...I REALLY want to be able to attach multiple items to a single email. I spent hours today transfering stuff and had to send upwards of 50 emails because we cant add more than one item. I don't think it would be hard to change this but would dramatically improve the mail system.
On a side note it would also be nice to get a read reciept but is not essential to the system.
#3590000018911/22/2005 22:19:11Re: Improving the Email system
"

My first thought as well. This needs to be implemented. At least let us
create groups in our "Buddy List" again and then be able to send email
to everyone in a list.

All valid concerns. Why do people have to be so mean? Anyway...
You can send items from the inventory as long as they are tradeable and you are near a hardline.
You can send emails to many people at once by spacing between their names with ; though I get what you mean Goth:p would take a long time to type in the names of every faction member...
Sent items are saved... as far as I know... Just takes alittle time for the emails to show up again after you close and reopen your inbox.. (Unless I´m wrong which in case. Thank you for letting me know)
One more thing though...
Only one attachment per Email? I don´t think that´s cool at all
Especially considering that info counts as an attachment.
And why were we supposed to hang on to our masks walrus? We can´t send them! Can´t complain about the price of sending stuff...
Other than that.
Me likey... Cheers

#3590000019211/23/2005 03:07:37Re: Improving the Email system
The emails as of right now are fine, IMO. It's a great addition
to the game and makes it easier to stay in touch with friends.
The only tweaks I would love is yes the option to create mailing lists
for when you want to email everyone in your organization.
I've already done a mass mail. When the mail bounces sometimes it
will tell you what you did wrong, like you typed the person's name
incorrectly. That happened to me when I was sending 2 million
info to a factionmate.
However I had to reget my 2 million info from that bounced mail before I could send another.
That's something that I would like to see fixed.
Also if you are sending mail to an inactive member (you just don't know
that person is inactive) you should get a bounced message saying person
is inactive. At least something with more explanation so I'm just
staring at the screen like some deer caught in the headlights going
whiskey tango foxtrot
Lastly, as a coder, I sometimes am making moer than one ability or item
from my factionmates. I would like the ability to send them
additional attachments. It's a bit tedious typing that one name
over and over, sending them one item at a time. There has to be
something easier.

I havent posted up to now bout my problem cos I was hoping it would be fixed before long.
However, as the official word is that it's all working fine now, how come this happens with my e-mail.
I can only post one way.
I have 2 alts on recursion, one can send stuff to the other girl, but she cant send anything to him?!
Always comes up as destination avatar does not exist.
Triple checked my spelling of his name and otherwise follow exact same mailing procedure but no go.
Sorry if this has been covered already, I searched but found nothing similar.
Thx in advance if you can put me right, people.

Why aren't the Halloween Masks items you can e-mail? I thought Walrus
hinted at keeping the Masks so we could store them with the e-mail
system.
Bah.

There was an error when they was released that they were flagged as non-tradable, but they should have been tradable when released. This will be fixed in decemeber (i think).

absolutly needed ideas iv seen so far,
Outbox
Flashing on screen icon when you've got new mail (im talking flash traffic stylee not that stupid phone no one looks at)
And if the icon cant be done have like a phone ring tone in game or some sort of beeping
Or better yet, both of the above
Multiple attachments
Buddy list
Instant faction wide emails
Oh and the $i icon from the email system to be used for all $i

Firstly, WTG Devs for the working E-mail!
Secondly, I for one second the idea of a "data drop" style interface. It was a critical part of the Matrix's mechanics in the movies and previous games and i think the E-mail is the perfect way to integrate data drops into MXO.
Amongst all the worthy suggestions to further improvements in the E-mail, i do hope this one receives serious consideration.

Oh, one more little suggestion (though id take it as easily done)
How bout a little reminder text in the interface that you cant send items unless near a hl?
Just cause i was using an alt the other day and thought there was a major bug cause i cudnt email anything, said to a faction m8 and everything then they reminded me i was like DOH!
#3590000021012/11/2005 03:23:28Re: The Official In Game E-Mail topic
1. mails may have random letters.
2. mails may have random freespaces.
3. and the badest thing: mails go empty for the reciever.
Example. I started to hack in a list for all collectors and after every 5 min i send it to myself. ( to do something like document saving ). Then i forward this mail and go on typing the list. After another 5 min the same as above. After 2-3 forwards see letters and freespaces like : Wha rf Ra eee ts (should be Wharf Rats ) And while the mail grows, a "saving" ends in a empty mail i recieve.
Anyone else has this?
dave
#3590000021112/14/2005 19:18:27Re: The Official In Game E-Mail topic
I've been having a few problems with my e-mail and also some thing I wish for SOE to improve on.
When sending E-mails they must all have a subject and a message otherwise you cannot send them, I don't like this because if I am just trying to send items or info I have to waste my time to type out all that.
which brings me to my next point SOE should allow people to send more than one attachment into heir E-mail, it looks like the game already has that function, because of the scroll bar in the attachments window, I just don't see why they can't implement that in the next patch. I think it's pointless to send ten different E-mails to an Alternate Character just to send them some abilities.
my last point is that SOE should allow people to have contacts, more or less why not just use someone's buddy list as their contacts list. It would make sending messages to your faction or crew a lot easier and less time consuming.
Hopefully SOE will listen.

#3590000021412/27/2005 09:44:11Re: The Official In Game E-Mail topic
I want to send info to other servers.
Not so fussed on items, though that would be nice, but info is a must.
Since live I've been on Vector but have just started on Recursion. I
started an alt on Vector, and whilst I didn't *need* the info I sent to
myself, it was nice to have there as a backup.
My Level 50 has a lot of abilities, a lot of info, and a lot of things
in code storage. It would be nice to utilise my work of the last 9
months for my new character, rather than having to build everything up
from scratch again.
#3590000021501/02/2006 23:33:43Re: The Official In Game E-Mail topic
I need to bring this up again:
Are we ever going to be allowed to e-mail and store our Halloween Masks? I was going to use the e-mail system mainly for storing my random event stuff, but unfortunately most have a non-tradeable tag, however if we e-mail it to ourselves, we're not really trading it, but the system doesn't see it like that.
Can you please fix this?
#3590000021601/03/2006 10:45:03Re: The Official In Game E-Mail topic
A load of my emails appear to have auto archived themselves. I
have been assured by in-game support that this is not possible and that
seeing as I can't prove that I ever had the items on my emails
basically it's a big tough break for me! They've told me that the
developers are looking into it but it's been over a week and they are
taking longer and longer to reply to me and keep closing down my
tickets!! Not very helpful and I'm out several valuable items,
which I will seemingly never get back.
#3590000021701/03/2006 12:28:47Re: The Official In Game E-Mail topic
I think in that case, I heard you can only have 50 e-mails at once. When you go to 51, it deletes or removes the oldest one. Not sure on that though.
#3590000021801/03/2006 12:31:22Re: The Official In Game E-Mail topic
I'm pretty sure that after 50 e-mails, it no longer SHOWS the oldest one. if you delete one or two, the missing e-mails will return.

#3590000022003/26/2006 04:17:40Re: The Official In Game E-Mail topic
Actually I've figured out a good way for mass e-mails. Just write the e-mail to yourself, then forward a copy to everyone on the mailing list. It's really faster than you'd think.
