PvP Test Event

We all know the Combat Revision 2.0 is coming out very soon. We haven't had a chance to mass pvp with the latest updates and time is running out. So we are putting together a PvP Test Event on Saturday at 2200 GMT (5pm EST/2pm PST). We want you to bring your cheapest loadouts, your favorite loadouts, and everything inbetween. The objective is to test as many loadouts as possible and get your feedback to the devs.

At 5pm EST is when the event officially begins and will run for 1 hour. At 6pm EST we will take a 15 minute break (for those that want to) to jot down notes, change loadouts, get more consumables, eat or whatever you might do on a 15 minute break. These are parameters to work with, obviously you can do as you please. There will be announcements at the designated times, and we encourage you to jot down a few notes at the break before the next session.

The next session will be at 6:15 EST until 7:15 EST.

Please fill out the following template with as much information as you can and any additional information you can contribute. The official feedback thread will be in the External Playtest Discussion forum.

Please use one template per loadout you use.

Your help makes a difference.

Awesome idea MK, maybe I'll finally get to see my city-block sized heal radius in action SMILEY.

Thanks Cal,

I'm getting a lot of feedback from the various server threads I put out...but the testers over here in the EP forum are a bit quiet SMILEY

You guys ready?

#34900006764 03/18/2006 05:02:19 Re: PvP Test Event
Whereabouts will the event be taking place? Can I suggest a large park, rather than the same old Mara C. That place tires me.:smileysad: not that it matters, just a suggestion. to interest more people who are fed up of seeing the same ol' stuff.

#34900006768 03/18/2006 06:19:29 Re: PvP Test Event
I hear you Dragonram, unfortunately a location was something I left out and PvP default is MaraC.

We could potentially move the second session to say Midian Park...suggestions?

Radio MegaCity will be broadcasting live from the event.

Bring everything you got to this test, if a class needs tweaking let's find it.

I'll try to make it, at the very least should be able to make it for the second session. Got a few different loads I've been wanting to try in some serious PvP.:smileyhappy:

The last few wars I have been in on Vector havebeen downtown. Why not move it somwhere like a park or building, kind of like king of the mountian.

What was the most annoying bug during the event? Teams breaking apart at random. I didn't even try to load Panicked Heal as its been doing 1 damage heals all through Beta, but that's my most annoying bug overall.

Commentary: Overall, with the Evade shield fix, I'm basically reduced to doing Restore Group 2.0 in interlock all day until the MA or Gunner that's on me dies. Vector had a dedicated Akido GM and a Ballista/Howitzer (I think) on me most of the time, when it was just the MA, I actually gained health through the fight, but double-teamed with an unmolested Ballista on me, I was toast (as is to be expected) although it did take a good amount of time, I was still able to pump GR2.0 out.

The IS Cost on my buffs is massive (even using only Force Mulitplier's Class Buff), and with them taking a long time to cast (Improved Hacking and Viral Shielding especially), aren't really practical in a mid-combat situation, outside of the rare situation where I'm not getting targeted as soon as I enter the fray. Lowering the cast times on some of my buffs would help a lot to actually let me buff my organization mid-fight.

Also, I absolutely love Renew RSI's cast time, it really makes it worth the memory space and the IS cost.

Finally with the current combat system it really became Sweep Party 2.0 versus Howitzers/Destroyers and Stun 2.0 as to who controlled the battlefield, now it's more of an issue of mitigating damage versus states.

The theoretical situation of one Trauma Surgeon versus one Howitzer comes to mind, but we'll have to wait until a later update (I think) to see just how well I can heal, as it stands now, I'm still pretty sure I can make a difference in a battle versus rolling a Physician/Upgrade Master or maybe even just another DPS loadout, but the difference isn't by much.

In terms of one on one match-ups I worry about:

  • Ballistas worry me a lot, simply because of their damage output, same with Karate.

  • SMG's burst damage is a problem if they get lucky Dazes a couple times in a row, other then that, not too much to worry about there.

  • Duelists are the only loadout that really has a chance at disabling me enough to counter my healing. They remind me a lot of a Stun-lock Rogue from WoW: really hard to beat if they get the jump on you, but if you break up their combo just enough, they go down kinda easy.

  • Aikido, with Determination, their Powerlesses aren't very bothersome and Enrage doesn't matter. Overall, they're the easiest opponent I can see as I can outdamage them with Harmful Code 1.0 and outheal their damage with Restore Group 2.0.

  • I haven't had the chance to fight any Patchers, Spies, Riflemen or Coders, so can't really say anything there.
