This thread is for discussion of the earthquake that affected Pakistan and India this past weekend. Whether we have players in that area, there are certainly those in our community who have family or friends impacted by the quake. Our thoughts go out to everyone affected by the tragedy and those who have gone there to render assistance.

Its times like these that make me think of the last book of the bible. Not saying its the end of the world but 2 heavy huricanes, a major earthquake and who knows what else has happened between Katrina and this, definitly makes you value life alot more then you did before this all hit.

An interesting point, WGAnubis. I think a more startling revelation is that this type of thing happens more often than we were previously aware of. As global communication has become easier over the years, we hear more about tragedies like this than we used to. And after something happens close to home, you become hyper-sensitive to stories from other parts of the world.

We are still neglected as to some stories of this kind of thing....and that is the saddest things at time.

Of course we can't possibly miss something as big as a hurricane or a 7.6 earthquake....

But something happens in a small town that levels it completely and kills its entire population goes unheard of.

Of course I don't mean to minimize the earthquake in any way...it's killed tens of thousands...it's just horrible.

My thoughts and prayers go to all those lost or affected by these terrible events, wherever they may be in the world.

This isn't meant to take away from this huge tradegy which will only become worse with ineffective aid relief, but what qualifies as an SOE sticky worthy disaster thread?

I didn't see one for the Guatemala Mudslides which buried and killed hundreds alive, wiping some cities completely off the map which will now only be remembered as mass graves.

You're right, adonai. We absolutely should have one up for that as well.

My condolencses to any and all effected and affected by this tragedy. I have just read a little about it in a newspaper while i was on break at work today. Not sure if the figures are right, but it mentioned something about 10k-20k killed? And millions left homeless.

I also heard they dont have the kind of resources as other countries so heavy machinery to come in to clean up wont be for some time, and possible dieases might pop up if enough time passes. Hope everyone is safe as safe as they can be in this cruel world SMILEY

I'm sorry for the personal loss suffered and I hope their countries have better disaster aid than the USA does.

Hey, Walrus, shouldn't these stickies be in the off-topic forums? Haha.

All these disaster stickies gives the forums a nice "the sky is falling" feel. SMILEY

all the other people non associated and all the people visiting,
prayers and best wishes go out to them,

earthquakes dont pick and choose who to kill and what to do destroy. its like a hurricaine or another other natural disaster,

it destroys anything and everything it can in its path
