I'm a returning player starting back completely anew. I planed on a non-Hostile server last time. But, now I'm considering being on the Hostile server. Can someone help me decide by giving me some information on the Hostile server? Is there as much roleplaying there? I'm a roleplaying addict. I'm not sure if Hostile or non-Hostile is best for me at this point.
Should I join the Hostile server?

Hostile server RP depends on what you would define as roleplay, If it's meerly staying in character then yes, there are also a few unofficial LET type teams going on which are started by Vectorite's that already hit 50 and get bored of PvP'ing all the time. Of course it's your choice but i manage to have my cake (PvP) and eat it (RP) constantly on Vector.

I would deffinently join Vector.
Vector is the only way to go in my opinion, if your a carebear (no offence) then you definetaly should go syntax or recursion as mainly recursion is the best for RP. But I'd probably get bored after a while and I'd say that I wouldn't play on a non hostile world anymore
I say, you learn the ropes on non-hostile. And, you test what you learned on hostile.
I agree, Vector is the most realistic interpretation of the Matrix in my opinion. I'd come there if I were you.
when you get right down to it, hostile is just more fun. it has its drawbacks when you want to do certain things, but the "feel" of it all is just cooler.

Question: When you turn level 16, is it safe to hang around highly populated areas, like Mara C? Do the higher levels tend to bully the lower levels, or leave them alone? Also, compared to Recursion, how much RPing is there?
yes, once you turn lvl 16 any reds and all that see ya are going to attack you and kill ya, get used to it, its not bad at all, u get used to it, and dont get mad, because theres always payback, as RP goes yes theres some but not as much as i heard from the other servers : )
We have RP, but pretty much only when situations demand it. Les Enfants Terribles is one of the more RP'ing Merovingian factions.

Seriously if you've gotta ask, then the answer is probably no. Just make a character and see how you like it, it won't be any different than the other servers until you hit lvl 16, and then just keep watching your back because you never know when someone's going to come and kill you.

Thats the FUN! Really its great. I couldnt Imagine dancing at Mara C with a bunch of enemys but i cna imagine me and my faction storming Mara C and try to clear it from reds. It is so much fun and who cares if you die just keep you bits in your LA and your good.

If you like to hang out at mara c and dont want to get attacked on vector create an alt and keep it below 16. Lots of people do this when selling items or when they just want to relax.

Yeah be sure to try both out first. I still regret not choosing hostile in preorder.
I wouldn't mind being at Vector. Heck I love PvP. Just don't have the time to start a new character over there.
But hey its MxO, Im sure you'll meet some kool people on there just like any other server.
I would disagree I have alts on both servers and I can't stand being on Vector for long.
Not the people there great, but the server is frustrating and hard to do ANYTHING.
Think anytime you log into a hardline someone shoots you down, when your trying to do missions, and its not even for one day its ALL the time.
It gets very frustrating, then you get the real higher levels that laugh everytime they kill you. Try pvp for a day non stop and you get the idea.
I would not go there.

Seeing how most of vector seem to be coming to recursion, that should answer your question.
It's really just the small differences that sets Vector apart from the other servers. For instance, i'm sure all you people on the other servers like to jack in to Mara C. On Vector, unless you're Zion, you don't even try using that HL for anything other than a tool to attract cattle for the slaughter.
I'm assuming that's where you HL'ed at and people shot you, Midnite, as it's only one of the few HL's that people like to congregate.

Also Midnight there are some on recursion that are going to vector so don't use such a wide brush when you paint your picture.
Pick the server that you enjoy best but if you want the real matrix experience go hostile. If you want to stand arround and chat, chill, take it easy then go syntax or recursion.

vector kicks *CENSORED* . it was my 1st server and my fav , i hav tried carebear but its not for me cause u end up just standing around and "chilling" if ur into being jumped by people at 1 HL and then starting an all out pvp war at it then join us but if u want to stand at mara all day go carebear (recursion / syntax)
Vector is the tru matrix cause just like in the movie u just dont kno wats gona happen next u think ur safe in an area then u hav about 3 jump u and u gota kill them or hav them kill u :smileyhappy:

Zion doesn't own Mara all the time. I would say she either went thru Mara C, Mara NW, or Midian E. Those are really the only HL's that hold people for any amount of time.

There is a reason they made non-hostiles blue and hostiles red. If you want to take the redpill and enjoy the true matrix experiance of survival and tactics, go Vector. Or take the bluepill and dance at Mara C.

Tjink of it this way, it is alot more realistic when someone can kill u at a meeting with opposite forces, ie merv meeting with zion or ect... Raither than have to flag yourself or sit in mara all day and dance and chat. Believe me I have friends on other servers and they wish they would of started on vector. But try it see what you like I guess. It is a players choice. Thats why they have the care bear servers.
In response to something Midnight said about not being able to do anything on Vector, I disagree. Not everyone on Vector will continually kill you THE VERY SECOND you hit 16. There are a few definable groups of players, from cq enthusiasts, to the honourable few who won't fight anyone more than a couple of levels below them. The hardcore neanderthal cq hunters are in the minority (DISCLAIMER-Not all of the hardcore cq hunters are neanderthals 
). You absolutely will meet many from each group but that's what makes The Matrix....The Matrix. It's up to you the individual to learn to defend yourself, and eventually exact some revenge on those who did get their cq way back when you were 16. At the risk of doing the broken record thing, the operatives in the movies wouldn't jack in and wander around without a care in the world. They were always watching their backs, spending as little time as possible on anything that wasn't relevant to the task at hand. There was no deleted scene in which Neo said; "Combat training? I'm sure the people wanting to kill me dead will understand I'm a pacifist, ooooh carrot cake" This isn't to say that Vector is constantly fighting each other and that's all (Wait a sec......), rp is a daily occurence, and there if you want to indulge in it. Dancing does indeed ensue at Mara C on occasion (Usually accompanied by random yelps of Mike Jones) The thing that differentiates Vector from the rest however, is the community. I firmly believe it's the best out of the three servers. P.S I was in the high 30's before I got officially 'Ganked' you can take steps to avoid it.

Lol yea I think Midnight must be basing it on a select few people. I love Vector and have been for a while now. Got a great faction and lots of great people. I can say for sure there is less Drama not that there isnt any.
Its about what you love though in the end. I'm a pvp type of a guy so it makes sense. I still do enjoy going back to Recurison to hang with some buds.

yeah ignore my first post from way up top there. Hostile is the only way to go. It's a true matrix experience, and you might even have a chance to work with or get killed by the Sniper Squad.
Right this is very simple. I have always been on syntax i started there i just randomly choose a server back when we have 9 and i didnt even know the difference between hostile and not...(come to think about it i didnt even know what pvp was lol). I took it upon myself to level and get to learn the game on syntax i was able to take my time, something that you really cant do on vector as you have no choice its going to happen no matter what. I reached 50 and spent my time on syntax untill i got bored n leveled my vector alt. Now i know both sides, and i love the feel of vector but nothing can take away what is syntax to me and it will always by my main server.
And do be honest RP if its a big thing doesnt happen that often on vector, and if it does its preorganised and a small event (unless its an RP character by let/lesig/pet) i say go syntax or recursion and then try out vector once you gain some skills on a non hostile.
Good luck with your choice.
its all down to personal prefereances, in my opinion you dont get large pvp battles all the timne as you do on the "carebear servers" but i still spent 99% of my time when in mxo on vector, instead of my home server syntax....its a good place to practice speed killigns too, how quick can you kill someone before they call backup and you get zerged
