Ok this isNOT a stop PvP thread at all but rather a stop the mindless PvP.


Let me start by asking a few questions.


1. How many people actually use the constructs on a regular basis for PvP?


2. How many of you feel it's pointless?


3. How many people want a real war between orgs? Not just some cold war thing!


HOW ABOUT THIS!


Lets turn the constructs into some place worth going, were winning a battle in the constructs has a direct impact on who is winning "THE WAR" a place were names are made.


Simply put a reason for GREAT PvP!


Why don�t we have objective based battles in the constructs?


"Capture The Disk" (a.k.a Capture the flag)
Firstorganization to get all the opponents disks home wins.
Loose the mobs and put a computer in the otherorg's base.
Objective is to get the disks! Before you get smoked!


Occupy the Hard Line (Control the Area)
Organizationthat controls the most Hard Lines by the end of a certain time wins.
Again loses the mobs.
Objective hack the Hard Line and protect for as long as you can.


First to theMark (Mission based)
All orgs get the same mission but from different views point of a story line.
You are all going for the same last mission door.
This is a race and the first org that completes the mission wins.


All scenarios work on a queue based system with minimums and maximums set for allowedorganization operatives onto thebattle fields.


Now yes this may sound familiar to some people and totally new to others but it can work and does it makes even those that don�t like PvP enjoy it that they cant even imagine a MMORPG without it.


These are just a few ideas that can be used for this purpose and I am sure there are many others and some of youalready after reading this can think of a few more.

The Idea is not to remove the existing constructs but rather add to the game dynamics by adding battle senarios/missions. Were you simply give a Battle Mission Contact a ring from the Mission window and enter the queue to teleport you to a instanced neighbourhood were its REAL WAR! one that that dictates a ranking for the different orgs.


Having played this type PvP I am talking about I have to say that it is without a doubt some the best fun to be had while PvPing in an MMO.

The constructs are meant for PvP not relaxation and chilling.

Just look at your flag when you enter a construct.

Guys, just let everyone know this is meant to be an idea thread for PvP simply saying "NO" is not what we are looking for lets get some real fun action in PvP, and if you do say no why are you saying no?


Here is another idea to add this thread.


1. If your org wins a battle in any of the PvP Games you get a unique item for your efforts.

I have one question for you then.


What is wrong with the constructs or PvP that makes people say they are bored with it?


This particular problem or complaint may indeed be from those on a non-hostile server.

but mindless PvP is fun. you and your buddies against 20 people is one hell of a fight, sure you might die a few times, but in the contruscts you need to wait for a rezzer.  keep the mindless pvp

Indeed keep the open PvP it is fun when you have full out brawl with your mates.


But what I am actually trying to get out of this is a type of ranking system for both individuals, factions and orgs and ultimately a draw card for even those that may not be inclined to PvP to give it a go.

This is NOT A STOP PVP thread but a call to the Devs to investigate a systems that has been proven to work for PvP and is still gaining momentum in the world of MMO's.


Just take a look at this.




Now lets have a real discussion about whether or not this will work for MxO.

Just a short request to those reading this thread please post constructive comments if you DONT have a viable argument as to why not impliment a system that actually uses the reputation you gather from missioning, also a system were you get the almighty XP from PvPing..........DONT POST HERE!

I think that perhaps the problem lies in the titling of this thread.  People view this with an expectation of it being an "anti-PvP" thread.


Clearly, the OP seeks a more organized form of PvP that serves a purpose.  At the moment, it only serves to keep us entertained.


I think the Dukelive has good intentions, its just the initial delivery that throws a curveball into the design.


Call me simplistic, but I enjoy our current PvP system (or lack thereof).  It's just something to keep me entertained.  Most of us PvP to have fun.  There are a few who do so to measure their e-wang.  They can have a ranking system if need be.  Because all of us who've been fighting for a while know that there never truly is a winner.


But if there could be?  It'd still matter little, imo.

Sorry about the title :smileysad: it was named thus in order to make an impact. I think it is doing its job :smileywink:


I think this whole thing started when I first started playing MxO. I think most people believe that as we first started rolling our characters we were about to make a difference in the history of the Matrix.


Most of us have all seen a lot of great RLpeople stop playing MxO because they felt that it didn’t live up to its claims or because they just got bored for one reason or another. The saddest thing is they still are.


PS. I have been playing since Aug04 so its been a year and a half for me now in the MegaCity and although there may not be that much to do in MxO other than PvP after you have done all the missions. I still love the world it is without a doubt one of the richest worlds out there.


The likelihood that this type of system will be implemented anytime soon is admittedly rather slim, but it is a great place to start for a future version of MxO overall.


The most important thing is that we find a system that works for the entire community and that helps grow MxO.

Anyone who uses the term 'Carebears' maliciously is worthless to this game. Unsubscribe. Leave now. Go back to your WoW loserdom. I PvP and I RP, stick that in your pipe and smoke it.

This would be a wonderful idea, but the main key to this would be to keep the mindless large pvp in a certain area of the battle, but who ever can win that part would then have to press in for the objective. Plan on joining a large PvP battle, make some time for it and really put your skill into it. Unless you have none, than I'm sorry for you. Perhaps make "respawning" a little different in the Constructs so that you come back within, lets say, 15 seconds at a semi-secure area that is still very near to the battle, but WITHOUT Death Effect, allowing you to jump straight back into the battle without any disadvantages. The more times you die, the more seconds it will add to your respawn time, so eventually, one side WILL push forward, garunteed.

This will take the mindless PvP, keep it semi-mindless, and yet add a whole new realm of tactics to the gameplay. Great idea man.

I agree with Duke that PvP is fine, but PvP with greater purpose would be better. The fact that fight nights are still going is a clear indication that a lot of subscribers enjoy PvP which is rewarded or has more structure. Yeah, sure there's often a reason for PvP when an event is running, but outside of that it becomes meaningless. Some folk will still enjoy PvP and I guess you still get points for it (not sure, since I've signed back up after a break) and a rep, but generally people enjoy activities that have a reward or goal.

Sorry, but you lost me there Hostile, but the naming of the thread was just to grab the attention of the passer by.


The thread is more of a plea to enhance the PvP experience by making it an integril part of the MxO world rather than what it currently is.


Just to recap.


PvP as it is now provides nothing more than forum bragging rights and some RP, it does not play a part in your RSI's faction status, It does not offer you any form of ingame currency in the for of it.


I believe that given that PvP is what has kept this game going it should become a fundimental part of the world where we actually get benefits in the game itself for participating in PvP.

I agree with you Duke.  PvP is getting ... well ... lame.  Pointless battles at Mara C when it usually turns out to be a gang raping of like 5 vs 1.  The storyline has slowed down drasticly over the last week or so.  PvP with some kind of "reward" would be a great addition to MxO (besides getting a worthless CQ point).  Something needs to change soon cause this type of PvP is getting us nowhere.

Lag is a personal issue. If you only play for PVP, that's a personal issue too. Nothing personal, but I have no lag and my puter is fairly average with a good vid card and while I like PvP at times, there is so much else to do that I don't have time to PvP every day and do nothing else. (And I've been playing since launch so I've been around as long as anyone else.)

There is a huge hole in the Matrix that seperates PvP from the storyline so PvP is meaningless and that's why it's prevelant in Mara C with the atmosphere it has. There is no meaning to it so the only place it crops up regularly is in the most populous area which is Mara C where the odds of instigating PvP is the highest. There is nothing to accomplish in PvP other than killing another player and that is why there is so much really awful trashtalking in PvP because people want it to mean something when they kill someone and the only meaning they can get is to think they are somehow uber for getting a cq point that in itself has no value. Even if someone has 20k CQ points, it means nothing since you can get them by sploiting the bugs or for killing lowbies (don't get me wrong, I'm not raggin on peeps with high CQ counts or calling anyone a sploiter,  just pointing out that the flaws mean you can't know for sure how someone got their CQ points). So trash talking often becomes the main event in PvP since there is nothing else of value to gain from it.

The new luggables are supposed to enhance pvp, but how they will connect pvp to the storyline (which will draw more players into PvP) is still yet to be seen. We'll just have to see what comes of it before it can be judged. The storyline itself does not support open warfare between org operatives.

I'd like to see pvp connected more to the storyline with objectives and rewards because I believe the quality of it will improve when there is truly something on the line. Peeps won't just be looking to talk trash cause they killed another player for no reason other than to talk trash. They will be focused on achieving objectives where killing other players is part of the process. I don't see why that can't be done without affecting the nonstoryline PvP that currently exists.

Ideas: 

Each contruct should have a collector like Binary Boy.

Each construct should have a luggable that gives the same buffs as the rare drop item in that construct.

Operatives with a high enough org rep should be able to lead sentries in attacks on the other org bases in the constructs. A successful attack should change the location of the org base in that construct or more specifically the org proxy and recon point in the Megacity. This would mean taking (or protecting) the Machine base would reward the captors with a proxy and recon point in the Megacity closest to the hardline. This captured base would remain in possessoin for 24 hours of inactivity, then return to the original org's possession if there is no use of that proxy by the captors. 

Require operatives to complete a mission in the archive construct to achieve certain landmark levels like 25, 30, 35, 40, 45, and 50. So for example, when you have enough experience to be level 25, you would have to complete a mission in the Yuki archive to graduate to that level.

To enforce the reality of the truce and protecting the simulation, pvping in front of bluepills should cause agents to spawn.

Critical mission number 5 in each live chapter (which requires the highest org rep) should make the operative flag up when activated.

There should be special PvP collectors in Downtown that make you go PvP hot until you bring them all the items to trade for the reward. If you log to remove the flag, then the items collected in the inventory would also disappear. This could work by having two types of items to collect. the first is a single item that needs to be traded, and causes the player PvP flag to go up, before the second item type can be collected which upon turning in for the final trade, then removes the player pvp flag.

i liek the idea, but there should be either A) whole new constructs so that the ones that are now arent made uselss for the actual purpose of them, or B) make it a voluntary thing to participate in these events, becuase if there are a hundred people in the construct pvping, and there is one that wants to kill the boss... he wont be able to.
