Tried truces, and they failed miserably. Now we just have mutual respect and friendships.
As individuals earn my respect, I will in turn respect them.
Factions take all kinds of members, and it's easy to simply say "Well, that faction's cool" or "I'm not going to rez anyone from that faction"... But that never ends well, and in those cases, people are either being unjustly punished or given a free ride, simply by association.

The only truces that I respect are individual ones. I make those truces
with my friends that are in different organizations. Other than that,
if its red, its dead...
