Answering for myself: not on a regular basis. Once I blundered into a club with my alt though (I was looking for cake, to tell you the truth) and found some French Merovingian players having a party and advertising their radio station, so I came back with the Merovingian, and he brought the cake, and I practiced my French and only screwed up bad once!

By the way, your handle is familiar... Were you the one I froze and forgot to unfreeze that that Death of the Destroyer faction meeting? Darn, I forget now.

And that actually sounds like our party you stumbled into too :smileyvery-happy:

A full-fledged quest system, integrated with our super-complex interior mission system. But now that I've said it, you can be sure that it's never going to happen! Muhahaha! Man, that's a weight off.

Ohh I think I froze you because you were shouting Cypherite stuff or something. There's a time and a place for loud roleplaying, but during a Live Event speech is not that time. Of course, I could be remembering this all wrong.

Pound on the QA server when it goes up, and keep posting on the forums!
#10400133473 12/15/2005 12:57:55 Re: Ask the devs an MXO question

How much of the game has SOE driven changes in it now?

Reason for asking, I understand that Pandoras Box and even Combat Revamp 2.0 were orginally planned by monolith so im interested in how much SOE has actually done to the game itself.

Have any of you played the prince of persia games yet?

In the releases about the combat upgrade it mentions that stats can no long be increased by using stats.

Are the existing items just going to be replaced in our inventorys or grandfathered like has previously occured?

(Probably future release so won't get answered SMILEY but meh!)

Jeffers

That *is* a future release question. However, I will say this: in the future we will not be "grandfathering" items by having them decay rapidly except in the case of extreme exploit-type emergencies. The whole thing with the old Richland/Westview dungeon loot decaying was an implementation of an old team practice that was not re-examined sufficiently by yours truly. *sigh*

I don't know about it being removed. But if it's anything like the reason why you can't send them tells, it's because the name you see on your screen is usually not their real name, but just a database hack--because even we can't have two characters with the same name between servers.

Strange, as we used to be able to send them /tells, and as far as i'm aware it has always been a database hack/cloaked name on each server.  Although I do agree it was probably stopped because of massive spam - just strange that they turned that function off completely.

And since I got in here - would you pass on Split Infinitys invitation to all devs etc to attend one of our many Xmas Tour parties, as advertised in the events forum? :smileyvery-happy: (Shameless plug!!!)

#10400133497 12/15/2005 20:26:01 Re: Ask the devs an MXO question
Well, I laughed too, for about a minute - before being stuck there for over an hour, seeing people spam area chat with 'MERV U SUCK D*CK!!!', 'MERV IS A F*G'... whereas I think all I said was something about justice being done for Enmascarado's death (refering to the Assassin being killed).
#10400133498 12/15/2005 21:03:18 Re: Ask the devs an MXO question
Not that I'm laughing at your misfortune, friend, but the casual manner
in which the Evil Dev Rarebit remembered as well as I did. I recall
being shocked and slightly angry that they'd mute you and not them...
But, the reply is funny.

We need to know what the devs think about the Mervovingian swarm on
Syntax at the moment and if this sort of thing will be balanced no
matter what organization getting all the players to join. How messed up
would the story get if everyone was one organization? Perhaps an
experience boost to the organization with the lowest player count and
call it "Hope".

Just a little inspiration for your questions as I can't stay up and
wait for the return of the Walrus and the Last Battle with the Penguin
after Frog throws the One into the fires of Beta and Mr. T, son of the
Oracle, becomes the hierloom to the swirling office chair of the

Rarebit, this is a fracking good thread.

Now, with that out of the way, here's my question, which I'm sure won't get answered, but it's important enough to me that I have to give it a shot:

With CR 2.0 on its way, will we see an improvement to Bullet-Time?  Because, I gotta tell ya, it's in SAD shape right now.  The timing is off, it doesn't really look as slick and, well, "Matrixy" as it should...it just needs an overall improvement, and since it's already been mentioned that combat animations have been updated somewhat for CR 2.0, I'm hoping some improvement has been made or will be made to Bullet-Time. (In my opinion, Path of Neo gave us an idea of what Bullet-Time in a Matrix game SHOULD look like.)

#10400133518 12/15/2005 04:29:53 Re: Ask the devs an MXO question
Putting a question out there in the hope someone will think it worthy enough to re-ask.

Are devs/designers thinking about making changes to the coding system to allow colour-customisable clothing?

I don't wanna know if it's slated for release at any specific time,
just whether or not its been considered as a viable route to go down at
some point in the future SMILEY

#10400133519 12/15/2005 04:48:54 Re: Ask the devs an MXO question

I have a few questions about the archives.

Right now the bosses are hard to kill, which is a good idea to encourage teams to go in, however, the drop rates haven't been changed, making it near freaking impossible to get the special items, which has only encouraged profiteering for those selling them.

Are there any plans to change this?

Prim3 made a good suggestion, make the bosses even harder to kill, and have them drop the special items every time. this will encourage large teams to go in, and make for some excellent archive pvp.

Also, are there any plans to give Taskmaster an Uber item?

Will we get a new archive for 50+, and can we even hope for a way to get the items we missed levelling past the lower level archives without haveing to fork out millions for them?

#10400133522 12/15/2005 05:39:10 Re: Ask the devs an MXO question
Quote by Rarebit on things he won't/can't:

...

5) On the other hand, questions about quirky MXO things are encouraged! Why is Ghost bald now? What does Walrus keep on the wall of his cubicle? The answers to these and other such questions could be yours!

...

SMILEY We can't answer questions relating to future releases!

9) We can't answer questions relating to story spoilers!

I think a lot of people are missing this. Especially number 8.  I do believe this thread was to be more of a light hearted discussion to show that the Devs do care...not to find out about the new stuff that is coming to the MxO world.

#10400133523 12/15/2005 05:51:54 Re: Ask the devs an MXO question
true, but they've answered almost every good question that I've seen...and well. this is a 180 on their policy and pushes our community beyond what it was before in terms of closeness to the devs and people who are working on the game. This kind of two-way mirror thing is probably the most liquid I've ever seen in terms of feedback and reaching out to the community I've ever seen and should be commended for it...you guys rock.
#10400133524 12/15/2005 06:33:24 Re: Ask the devs an MXO question

Rarebit, HCFrog, thanks for taking time out of your busy schedules to answer some of our questions reguarding my beloved game.  Though, you skipped mine, you sort of answered it in your responses to others. SMILEY I was curious if you had actually PLAYED this game, as opposed to just seeing it in code and in designs.

Now to my new question:  Are there any plans for a new way to know when LET members are in the Matrix, aside from the buddy list which doesn't work due to the database hacks?  It'd be nice to have some kind of hint to know when things are going down!  Maybe something like when Crew Members jack in, a little line up at the top left hand corner of the screen reading, for example, "Niobe has jacked into the Matrix."
#10400133527 12/15/2005 06:25:49 Re: Ask the devs an MXO question
Are you planning on implementing the "outer clothing" shell idea (i think it was mxoclothing.com's idea) or something to allow us to not look like an army of clones? plsssssssss!! :smileytongue:
#10400133528 12/15/2005 06:33:58 Re: Ask the devs an MXO question
Speaking of Rarebit's questionable French... Someone should ask the biggest mistake the Devs have ever made with their godly LE powers.

Silencing KingKAW and forgetting about him?

Accidentally turning off my mission system that one time?

Maybe... Getting hacked to death because they forgot to turn on "god mode"?

I guess a lot of people have good ideas to enhance gameplay by writing cool tools.
