I was one of the pre-order beta people that never received my copy of MxO Magazine sent to all pre-order players.  I sent in a petition, but never got my copy, so I figured they ran out.  Well, about a month ago, I was cleaning out my closet and found a white envelope mixed in with some other old mail.  Lo and behold!  It contained my copy of the magazine! :smileyvery-happy:  I know there are some that actually did not receive it, so I've posted a copy on my web site: www.mxostory.com.  Enjoy.

Reading the Paul Chadwick interview months later is very interesting.  Many of the little "hints" given have since turned into real events.  I think I found one exception:

There's even one player who will get to appear in a cinematic we have one mapped out so that there's only one path he can follow.  Once somebody does that in gameplay, we'll use the character he's built and plug him into the cinematic we've otherwise already prepared.

Think this was supposed to happen when The Assassin was killed on the barge?

If
it was about the assassin on his barge then that would mean we could
have gone to the barge to kill that assassin ourselves. While it does
seem "someone" was supposed to appear in the cinematic, the excerpt
doesn't lead me to believe this is what he meant.

We all have to remember that right now we are kind of just treading
water when it comes to events. The original idea was to have a team
playing out these events on a pre-scripted schedule. Now it seems that
all event scenarios being performed are the critical ones we absolutely
need to get through this year, or season as I call it.

Take for example the fight the assassin had with Ookami that brought
about his end. In the past we would have seen this battle ourselves.
But this small event had to be put aside most likely.

So what I am getting at is this line could be about some other event we
haven't been lead toward or even know about. It definaltely seems like
it means something that they thought we would be able to do on our own
any day if we figured out how to do it. I think it was meant like when
the first player figured out how to become a jedi in SWG. Something
anyone could do, at anytime, but would be very difficult without
knowing the way.

It coudl be talking about:

-Someone infiltrating the masked on their own...

-Killing off someone of importance (Merv)

-Legitimately breaking into the halls...

And many, many more...

Now that would be cool, but I have that funny feeling that the player was supposed to be the one who found a way to the barge and killed the juggurnaut with shovels... But no one found the way, and therefore never was added to the story.  It was just, "Some Anonymous Redpill."
#10400056191 12/18/2005 13:08:41 Re: MxO Magazine at MxoStory.com
Once someone does this in gameplay...

I just take this to mean that anyone could do this at anytime. I mean
one player alone with the assassin on the barge with just a flit
gun  would get ganked so quick he woudn't even get past seeing the
matrix code. Now a group of redpills could do it, but then it would
become a crowded cinematic, and they couldn;'t just reward the one who
get the killing blow...

Nice work SuperJenius. The CopyRight issue always stopped me from doing a similar thing, I wonder what the publishers think SMILEY

Glad it's out for the masses tho SMILEY

I don't have my magazine with me at the moment, but somewhere in there he talked about the different organizations.  one is a group misrepresenting themselves, bla bla.  I thought that was interesting.  also the picture sketches.  When I last looked in it I was like "omg that the assassin and cryptos"  makes you wonder who the other people are.
#10400056403 12/18/2005 21:31:54 Re: MxO Magazine at MxoStory.com

"I might add that in short order, there are four, five or more organizations, though some aren't interested in having redpills join them.  They're reactions to developments in the story.  One group forms for vengeance."

Cypherites.

"One seeks power."

Ookami.

"One is misrepresenting itself and hiding it's true motives."

The General.

"Another is a quasi-religion.  Neo died for us, you know."

E Pluribus Neo.

I wondered the same thing about the Cinematics, LOL :smileytongue:.  Seriously though, one word from the devs and I'll take it down.
