*Shameless Plug*

There's a new Fanzine out as of yesterday. Made for players, by players.

Nice to hear some news about the Test Server and the LESIG. You know I'm all over both of those as soon as they hit.

By the way... Walrus, my man - err, mammal... How about granting us an interview for the next White Rabbit? SMILEY

Good stuff. I feel like we're really about to get some interesting changes.

And I can't believe the cow discussion made the OSotLG article. If this is what Walrus is doing with all that extra time on his hands....:smileytongue:
#10300001329 11/11/2005 17:11:35 Re: The Other Side of the Looking Glass - 11/11/2005
great update Walrus!
I'm kind of upset that I won't be helping in the first round of LESIG...but I hope to eventually get in thereSMILEY.

We have noticed that there are more characters ingame...but can you elaborate on the intentions of how much they will be "phased" back into the game? Will this kind of interaction be the way you guys are delivering this new storyline or will we see a small event (3 days) coming up to play it out?

I'm hoping that the community decides to take the opportunity to help out the devs with the new test server and show them that we are dedicated to getting all the bugs out of the system.
I know that there are some players that will be religiously submitting /ccrs...can we get more than one /ccr at a time PLEASE!!!! especially for the test world in which we might find up to 10+ in a gaming session.

thanks again for staying true to the friday deadline...SMILEY

EDIT:
Can I also say cudos for the player video idea! but can we get a feel for the audience it will be shown too? it might help if we know that info so that we can taylor the content to what they would like to see best.

Thanks for the update.

Hmmm... well, the QA server and testing of the "new" combat system sound good, but I won't be part of them as I just don't have the space to install a second copy of MxO.  Otherwise, I would definitely pitch in at least a little bit of time.  I hope all goes well with it though, and I hope that the testers comments are actually used to forge a better game.  (psst, keep interlock)

I can't wait for the email to make it's appearance, and I hope it won't be overly buggy.  Few things can be worse than miscommunication caused by lost or dropped emails... especially if you are goign to be allowed to actually send items.

The LESIG should be cool for those who are participating.  Once again, however, I just hope that what they have to say about things actually does get listened to and used when appropriate.
#10300001331 11/11/2005 17:19:52 Re: The Other Side of the Looking Glass - 11/11/2005
Bonopi:

I believe you can submit as many simultaneous bugs as you want. You can only have one open ticket at a time. Since most of the problems on the QA server will be bug-related, I doubt there will be much of a difficulty there.

#10300001332 11/11/2005 17:20:31 Re: The Other Side of the Looking Glass - 11/11/2005
great update Walrus, but PLEASE dont make me wait for 2 to 3 months for
the next event. It gets very lonely when you are a level 50 and pvp is
getting dull.

#10300001333 11/11/2005 17:35:48 Re: The Other Side of the Looking Glass - 11/11/2005
I was thrown off regarding "Why is Niobe concerned about Cryptos?"

I haven't heard of Niobe's concerns for Cryptos before this. Has it
come up in a critical mission and I've just forgotten about it or was
it in a LE interaction type thing that I've missed? Not being critical
against the game or anything, just worried I may have missed something
important.

#10300001334 11/11/2005 17:36:13 Re: The Other Side of the Looking Glass - 11/11/2005
Can't wait for the changes and QA.  I do like this movie contest...

#10300001335 11/11/2005 17:51:23 Re: The Other Side of the Looking Glass - 11/11/2005
PLEASE dont make me wait for 2 to 3 months for the next event.

I really hope that the event "delay" is because the event won't be run until after LESIG is started as I am sure LESIG will be able to help improve the event for everyone even more. Here's also hoping they haven't forgotten about the international players who applied for LESIG too =)
#10300001336 11/11/2005 18:23:48 Re: The Other Side of the Looking Glass - 11/11/2005
Thanks for the update, Walrus.

Once we're done testing the combat system on the QA server I'd love to
see QA become what it was back in beta. Many MMO's have adopted a test
world. Why not MxO?

Wow, The future is looking bright.  Well about as
bright as it can
get in the green tinted world of the Matrix.  Is it to late to
sign up for the test server?  Also I know alot of other people may
be thinking the same thing as me on this one:   Will people
on the Test Server Have access to the SOE Email system? If so I know
someone will be tempted to SoeMail themselves a Second Sakura Bandana?
lol.  And believe it or not The Cow's In the pod post wasn't
created as a joke.  I was honestly curious, it was the few people
who posted after me who clowned it up a  little.  As a matter
of fact the cow in the matrix idea was coined by some philosophy guru
in the book im reading based on the Matix.

#10300001340 11/12/2005 00:14:31 Re: The Other Side of the Looking Glass - 11/11/2005
Considering that the QA world needs a separate install (gotta reinstall my copy >_>) it will not be linked to the live servers in anyway. This means that if it does have SOE mail, it's server wide only. Much like I expect it will be in the live game too (at least for sending items) as I really can't see the devs allowing items from one live server to pass to another, shame considering that both Recursion and Vector have unique enhanced items that do *not* exist on any other server. As for signing up for the QA world, it will be simply a matter of following the instructions to install a second instance of the game that points to the QA server - once it's ready I am sure instructions to do just that will be posted on DN1 or here.

What I am interested in is which of our characters will be copied over. Some of us have several characters on all three servers (even if, like me, we don't play them). So do we get to choose which one is "copied" over, or is one being randomly picked for us?
#10300001341 11/12/2005 03:44:40 Re: The Other Side of the Looking Glass - 11/11/2005
Cheers for featuring the Matrix Haiku thread. Its my favourite :smileywink:

#10300001342 11/12/2005 07:37:32 Re: The Other Side of the Looking Glass - 11/11/2005
Wow....I hope that LESIG is interesting *coug**cough* *slips Walrus a 10 dollar bill*

But seriously...I didn't see that concerned msg in the Sentinel with
Niobe...I did get all of the others however. Can you tell us where it
is?

And I have to say that I agree with chuui about the LE's. Walrus, I
know that this isn't your doing but I do honestly find myself jacking
in and lingering around Mara Central hoping for ppl to flag so I'd have
somethign to do. Otherwise, if I don't create things to do with my
faction, there isn't anything to do, and there isn't anything to look
forward to as we don't know what there's to look forward to. I can only
hope that this revamp creates intruiging content - even if I'm at lvl
50 and the Bells gang aren't very intimidating.

#10300001343 11/12/2005 08:46:34 Re: The Other Side of the Looking Glass - 11/11/2005
Glad to see the LESIG is about to start up and be used.

Lets hope it can help out in the way it was intended.

The QA server, I hope will be continued to be used after the combat upgrade testing, seems to incoporate some of the suggestions which were given back in the old days when you wanted more people to use the QA server which is always good.

Does it mean though with the character copy over to the QA server that we are going to have 9 characters available or is only the highest level and then 2 open slots going to be available?

One other quick point which I'd like to see would be some sort of live events schedule like we used to have with approximate dates of when live events are going to be run. Just so we could have some indication of how often we could see them.

And have these mentioning of Agent Gray going weird and niobe being concerned come from the sentinel, or have these been things that have happened in game? The only possibility of ingame I've seen so far is something to do with Agent Gray of Vector, but could be wrong.

Looks like you made it two fridays in a row which is always good Walrus. SMILEY

I know I'm VERY excited about the player movies! I know MidoriMegami has been itching to do another one, and I have quite a few ideas on what we should do! Hi-Res though? Uploading may be a pain, but I think we can do it ^_^ !

Question though, can we submit more than one?

Also, good to hear that LESIG is comming back. I remember one time in int'l, Sugaree and I were just chatting, when Seraph showed up. I miss stuff like that SMILEY

Guys, just wondering, is there any way I can sign up for LESIG, or were the sign-ups closed prior to the transition?
#10300001347 11/12/2005 14:09:21 Re: The Other Side of the Looking Glass - 11/11/2005
I believe the signups are closed at the moment, just because the old e-mail address we used to sign up probably isn't being checked at the moment. However, it sounds to me like sign-ups will probably be reopened once the original pool of applicants has been gone through, as they need more people.

Live Events Special Interests Group

It was originally supposed to happen back when Aether was head of the Live Events, but once the SOE announcement came, it was held off.

I have a question regarding who gets in though:

Okay, I did get a second e-mail from Aether saying I was basically in, but I need to fill out a more complicated set of questions, and that's when LESIG stopped, so does this mean I'm getting in?

#10300001352 11/12/2005 22:30:53 Re: The Other Side of the Looking Glass - 11/11/2005
Yeah, I definitely want in on LESIG! Can't wait until the combat revamp SMILEY

Good question. I filled out and sent that off too. But I doubt it means we are automatically in, is was probably just the second stage for selection which means that not all who filled it in will get picked. I'm also interested in knowing how many of us who filled it in are actually still around...

Great to hear it's finally on its way, I got that second email too, but like you say it would be interesting to know how many people who filled it in are still around, the initial closing date was something like 6 months ago :smileyvery-happy:

#10300001355 11/13/2005 12:46:41 Re: The Other Side of the Looking Glass - 11/11/2005
I would definitely like to learn more about the LESIG since I missed
out on it in the past. I know that it involves the LE topic as a whole,
but beyond that, I do not know.

Any clarifications?

#10300001356 11/14/2005 07:21:46 Re: The Other Side of the Looking Glass - 11/11/2005
Money must be tight at MxO these days. Everyone is working hard, yet nothing is being done to the DN1site.
#10300001357 11/14/2005 08:44:45 Re: The Other Side of the Looking Glass - 11/11/2005
Glad to see you're starting to adhere to a set "Looking Glass" schedule, Walrus.  Weekly updates are great, and will really help player morale.

A hearty "thank you" for not forgetting the LESIG.

Can't wait to get my hands dirty in the QA server.  I'm eager to see how the dev team has worked to improve combat in MxO.  Namely how external hacks will affect MAs who are in interlock with other opponents.  Perhaps the test server can remain an option when further input and testing is required for other major updates to the game?

Thanks again for the update!
#10300001358 11/14/2005 12:51:04 Re: The Other Side of the Looking Glass - 11/11/2005
"Money must be tight at MxO these days. Everyone is working hard, yet nothing is being done to the DN1site."

Heh, I agree though. I think we need to see some sort of DN1 updates every week besides news headlines.
  • Remove or replace the EBGames and GameStop links because they don't work.
  • Remove the Halloween Masquerade graphic and put something else up... anything...
  • Update the 1.3 cinematic, or just remove it. That 1.3 download has been there for months. Non-subscribers may think the storyline has stopped...
  • Live Events graphic on the right, update it or take it down.
  • Update the site info from the Monolith site, or have someone create content to put on the site. The whole site is basically " Content is currently being updated."
Sometimes the little things matter.
#10300001359 11/14/2005 14:17:14 Re: The Other Side of the Looking Glass - 11/11/2005
I'm glad to see the first invitation for the LESIG is coming soon... I
was one of the players who sent his application and answered to the
long winded series of questions for the next step. Like Chuui, I don't
know how many of us that filled this 2nd step are still around, but I
think surely enough to help define what the LESIG is meant to be.

It's not available yet. There will most likely be an announcement on the main page sometime in December when you can download it.

#10300001427 11/19/2005 21:40:13 Re: The Other Side of the Looking Glass - 11/11/2005
I hate to sound like a grump, but this talk of a new combat system has me a little ruffled: I just started playing and I'm getting the hang of the combat system; now it's gonna get changed. And the ins and outs of the test thing have me wary, since I'm not the most technologically savvy person out there.
#10300001437 11/20/2005 20:01:28 Re: The Other Side of the Looking Glass - 11/11/2005
Don't worry, installing the test server is easy, and they will give you step by step instructions on how to install it.
