In regards to June 1...

I know that this isn't the appropriate forum for this type of question, but honestly who cares at this point.

I was wondering if I could get a clearer answer to this question (with regards to the following statement):

Dear MxO Subscriber,

We want to inform you that on June 1, 2009, Sony Online Entertainment (SOE) will suspend commercial services of THE MATRIX ONLINE (MxO). However, SOE will continue to operate the game service and players will still be able to play MxO through July 31, 2009.

As of June 1, 2009, SOE will no longer offer customer support or provide updates for MxO, and active subscribers with accounts in good standing will not be billed after that date.  MxO subscribers who have prepaid subscription time that extends their subscription period past June 1, 2009 will receive a pro-rated refund for any such pre-paid excess subscription payments*. Such refunds are expected to be issued by October 1, 2009.

I know the after June 1, active subscribers will be able to play up until the end of the game on July 31st.  However, I was wondering if this has any bearing on in-active subscribers after June 1?  Will they have to to re-sub by June 1 to be able to play they game between then and the 31st of July?  Or will they be able to re-activate their accounts after the June 1 marker?

The reason that I'm asking in particular is because I have a couple of friends (old MxO vets) who will most definitely want to be around during these last weeks, but they're in the process of moving currently and I'm uncertain if they would be able to re-subscribe before June 1.  If they can't, can they still get in later?  I just want to be 100% certain that they would be able to join up for the final weeks of fun.  I appreciate any insight, thanks in advance! 

my guess would be that if you don't sub you old account by midnight tonight forget about it forever.  that would be my guess though.. I just re-subbed a alt of mine  so it still works as of right now..... you might only have 11 hours left. time check: 1:23pm

I also am confused about this. I asked Virrago and he said he would get back to me, but he didn't before the end of business Friday so I went ahead and resubbed one of my 3 accounts. I currently don't have $45 to spend so it's a coin flip as to whether Diced and the crew will be making it back for a finale.

I know exactly what you mean, I truly hope this isn't the case as all hopes of bringing many of my faction back for one final in-game reunion would be dashed considering we only really had 4-days notice between the announcement and June 1 cut off.  It would it practically be a slap in the face.

I would love an answer to this as well.  As I posted in another thread, I sent out a pile of emails about this news but I don't know if it will reach everyone in time, or if they will be able to resub by the 1st.  :/

I'd also like to know if trial accounts will still be offered.  I highly doubt it, of course, but The Watchmen have our 4th anniversary party coming up shortly and it would be nice if some interested in attending could get in just for the party even if they have no intention (or ability) to pay a full sub fee (especially given the rather short deadline).

6 1/2 hours left to sub...  ( I think)

Hopefully they will still let people sub, but I went ahead and resubbed today to be sure.

Raijiin answered this question when I posted it on the Station forums. Starting June 1 there won't be any subscriptions accepted.

If you don't resubscribe or just subscribe by tomorrow, you're done.

I find it absolutely ridiculous that they won't allow you to resubscribe after the 1st of June. If someone wants to throw their money at this dieing game for one last hoorah, they should damm well be able to. It isn't like it takes a lot of man power to keep it open until mid-June or end of June. News sometimes travels slower than you would like, and I don't think they made it clear enough that you couldn't resub after June 1.

Well, the credit card used might not work for this, but I heard people were resubbing all day, so Dragonram just tried to sub now and got nothing. Error page.

So, maybe, it's over.

In fairness, though, he didn't exactly shut the door.

I'm trying to get gracewing resubbed, but since she's in the UK and currency is in GBP it's not letting me use my own personal credit card (in USD) pay for it.  She's probably asleep and I can't reach her before midnight PST.

Anyone have a way around this?  I just want her to be here for the end is all.

But, if it's really not possible, and you guys know people that just want a way in, pm me for a trial key.  I do have a phew left.  I can't promist they will work, but it would be worth a shot to try.

This is absurd. One final slap in the face from SOE, giving us four days to resubscribe before they lock us out. Are they that dedicated to ticking us off that they're willing to lose hundreds - possibly thousands - of dollars in people coming back for the last hoorah? I'm struggling to understand the sheer stupidity.

So yea, I spent a whole day on trying to resuscribe yesterday, but some sort of error didn't let me.

Now, it's June 1st... and too late. Awesome.

Yes... I'm not all too pleased either. I just found out about MxO being shut down yesterday and *BY ACCIDENT* saw the June 1st post. Granted, I don't surf the MxO forums...  so I suppose it's my own fault for not knowing before yesterday. That aside, MxO was a big part of my life for 1-2 years, the second I heard it was being shut down I felt a sadness come over me. All the experiences I had, the people, the conversations...  getting sucked into the MxO was one of the best things that has ever happened to me. As odd as that may sound.

Anyway, I was able to resubscribe with no problems, but I had issues trying to get Mr. O reactivated. It kept giving me an error message when trying to use a US credit card and even puked on me when trying to use his UK credit card. What gives?!!  It's the same freaking card he used back in the day. I don't get it. And now that it's June 1st he has no chance of jacking back in.

And what exactly is SOE getting out of having the June 1 cut off. They HAVE to know that tons of people are going to want to come back for the last month or so. I'm willing to bet that even those who could care less if MxO dies would still come back. It may not be the same MxO as it was 2-3 years ago, but I know most of the dedicated players of 2-3 years ago would pay their money to be there at the end. Having open reactivations until the end would only give the MxO one last confidence boost and not leave the players with the sour taste they've had in their mouths for so long.

Way to go SOE...

Actually i resubbed someone today, it still let me and now they are back ingame.

Having that set in his account enforced a check to see if he was reactivating through a UK ip address. odd...  So he switched it to a US zip code and US Dollars and I was able to use my card.

Anyway, the tech I spoke to said they had a meeting this morning and they are no longer allowing reactivations. Although they seem to be clueless that you are still able to reactivate today.

Get to it people!!  Today is your last chance!

How do I change my currency (it was in fact Euro - can't believe I didn't notice that)?

And how do I remove my payment source if it has no "delete" button to it?

How do you change it from Pounds to US dollars?  I've changed the zip code but can't change the currency.

I actually called Tech Support at 1-858-537-0898. They have to change it on their end... there is no way to do it yourself.   Just tell them you need to change the currency type on your account, that you moved, etc. He asked our new zip/post code. He changed it and it took effect immediately.

The tech support line is open until 7pm PST and there was a bit of a wait for the MxO line. Be patient and good luck!!!

Thanks Reizen!  I actually just got ahold of gracewing, and she subbed up no problem, so I won't need to change anything.  Thanks!!  Hopefully someone else with this problem will use your info.

One more thing, I just added a new payment source, a credit card (it was "bank transfer") - however, I can't remove the old one.

Also, the credit card one doesn't say it's "currently working for MxO", while the bank transfer one does. How do I deal with that?

I hope they just open up the servers to all accounts in the last few weeks. What have they got to lose? They will have to keep banned accounts banned, but at least let the people who played this game enjoy it's final days.

I dunno, I think they should lift bans on all accounts.  So that at least those who were banned could join in on the last hurrah.

Well, my problem is that it doesn't work - so I'm trying out different threads to overcome the error.

Phoning them up didn't work yet (to correct the currency), so I thought I'd do something with the payment source meanwhile - which now throws up problems, as well.

I mean, if it's too late, then meh - but presuming it MIGHT work, do you know how I deal with the described problem with the Payment Source?

So I called, and the guy told me that they don't deal with German customers, and directed me to the following number:

Upon calling it (it was already 20:30, respectively), an automatic voice told me this number was unavailable from my area. WTH??


Does anyone know where the complete list of SOE support numbers is? Couldn't find it on their page, tbh.

I still find it kind of strange... rarebit leaves, the whole community goes away or goes to a dormant state... they pull the plug partially because of that and dang everyone who's ever subbed to MXO wants to get back in ... it's a CRAZY world.

Are there numbers on the people subscribed in let's say march compared to now.... I see lots of old folks again, and I see a massive amount of < lvl 10 running around

I agree 100%.  I don't understand how they benefit from leaving all the bans and restrictions in place. Unlock everything so people can enjoy themselves. I too would be interested to know the # of subscribers today vs March.

We won't know for sure until someone tries to sub today. Even the people at SOE seem confused as to what will work after the 1st.

Just have your friends try subbing and see if they can get in.

And if subscribing just to MxO doesn't work, have them try a station access subscription. I'm sure a lot of people are wondering if the SOE Station Access subscription will work.

I started playing MXO at launch... it was my first MMO.  I had to come back and see it end.  I just subscribed (11 PM EST June 2nd) and it gave me an error, but it looks like it went through successfully and MXO is now downloading on Station Launcher

Very sad to see this game end...
