Now we all know we have and End on our horizon, what we don't know yet is.... why?

There is anyone  in the community relationship of MXO with at least a small respect for us (and the balls for doing this), that can simply tell us the reason we are the first mmo SOE close?

There is any one worthy to be called man that can give us  this answer?

Or Big corp boss at SOE still pull the wires of his puppets?

It's because SOE would grow too big, it would've actually sucked up WOW's subscribers if they kept this game going.

They probably want our servers for another game, either The Agency, DC Online or Free Realms.  It's all about money.

They'd already moved 2 Agency people into Rare's old office before he was officially relieved, so there you go.

I believe its because of its potential competition with their own product, The Agency...which, frankly I doubt will ever be as good as MxO.

Or potentially they just feel the IP license from WB is no longer worth what it costs them.

I just wish WB would release the game to NCSoft....maybe give it to Scott Jennings(Lum The Mad) over there and let him really take the game somewhere....(If theres anyone I'd trust not to purposefully screw up a game its Scott Jennings).

LOL all you like, but they haven't shut down Planetside and that games been a massive failure now for years. Its hacked from one side to the other and they do nothing about it and they still continue to charge a monthly subscription for it...and its active player community is probably even smaller than MxO's.

Agreed, I would love to hear the thoughts and what led up to this decision.

Quoting myself....cause well I made a mistake, Scotts not with NCSoft any more, its been a couple years since he and I have talked. Apparently situations have moved on for him as well.

I just left him a message though...it would be interesting to see his thoughts in regards to this closure. Lum the Mad is probably the most experienced voice of dissent in the gaming industry next to maybe...Warren Spector.

There won't be. Let it go man. It's not even worth the effort to bother.

<3 Life goes on.

We shall be able to keep that alive that matters most - except SOE decides to kill off the Matrix storyline wise completely by ignoring Rarebits work and plans completely. Oh well... nvm

Quote from an insider:

I think you'll see a moving away from World of Warcraft style games because they can't compete with WoW. It's hard to compete with such a dominant market leader, especially when your goal is "clone something else".
I also don't think MxO or SOE in general are a good indicator of where the market is going. DCO and Agency are both troubled projects - SOE has been betting everything on Freerealms, which is working for them. I expect we'll  see some branching out in the next few years just because it's ironically a safer bet with WoW's iron dominance of the fantasy genre.
This comes from an unnamed hermit out in the hinterlands.

No man, they still cosider us just kid  to say "Game over, now all to sleep!", well is not like this, and ehy.... look here noone from soe  still answered me...

What this mean?

I have an idea, and i have written it in first post of this thread.....

Camon  SOE employed, it's easy..... just make a step and shoot whatever you want to say, the question is simple three letters word.... WHY?

Anyone there?

Come on Rajinn, Walrus, Virrago, i am sure you can stand truth without melt down and disappear.... you all say to love this community, well just make something for this community, we just need an answer, you know truht can make us free, and i am sure, can let some souls like dropping down an heavy weight.

#36300559559 05/29/2009 15:07:40 Re:Why?

I remember Virrago saying not so long ago (but still before Rare's departure) "That is not going to happen" when answering a concern about shutting down MxO. So I completely second Sepet's question.

#36300559631 05/29/2009 16:09:28 Re:Why?

Time passes and noone still answer.... ehy ok ok is SOE policy to not answer but hey i am talking with you administrator of mxo..... please

#36300559769 05/29/2009 17:51:57 Re:Why?

Why they did not answer us?

Something to hide maybe?

Still waiting for one simple answer....

#36300559798 05/29/2009 18:27:16 Re:Why?

WB pretty much owns the rights to publishing DC universe stuff in everything but comic book form. To secure the rights to said property SOE had to scratch WBs back by handling a problem child of theirs for a few years (or until profitability maybe) well whatever benchmark that needed to be met has been and the cost of leasing the matrix property is greater than the profit (or potential profit) to be had (if any). And before anyone says it, if sony had not taken mxo over this would have ended in the first year instead of the 4th.  Sony ran with the ball as long as they had to and that's that. Shame DC online is shaping up to be a spectacular failure, an all around loss for sony on the whole deal really.
