In order to jack in, I think you have to enter cc#.  I'm not 100% sure though because I didn't use the trial.  If anyone else knows this to be different, please correct me.  Also, welcome to MXO.  We have a pretty cool community and I hope you stick around.

I will if i get this stupid trial to work XD

If not, then i'd have to re-consider lol

Where did you get the game and trial from? Most new players get it through  SOE's Station Launcher nowadays. That comes with a two week trial, and does not require you to enter a credit card number unless you want to subscribe to the game once the trial is done.

Welcome to MX0. SMILEY

I ordered it of Play.com via the Play trade function, but the game was sealed and such. I registered on that station website and then entered the code. It said it worked but I looked again and it said it was closed..

Is there a way to get a trial directly of that website? or did you mean from buying it off there?

All you have to do is click the "My Account" link on the top of this page, and it will take you to where you can download the launcher for free,.

However, the fact that you can even post on thses forums indicates that you should get the 30 days, as only paid accounts can post on here. What you got was not really a trial. so to speak, but a 30 day subscription included in the price of the game, That is why they are probably asking for a credit card number. What you could do is put your credit card number in, then if you do not like the game towards the end of the 30 days, click the cancel button so your credit card is not billed.

If you wanted to make sure of this, you could always contact SOE customer service.

Well it doesn't say anything about entering my card details but when I log in, I get the following message open up on a new internet tab

HTTP Status 404 - /mxo/details.m

type Status report

message /mxo/details.m

description The requested resource (/mxo/details.m) is not available.

And under subscription Information it says Matrix and it say's closed next to it. So if that message doesn't mean anything to you, i enter my CC details and I should be able to play and if I don't like it just cancel, compadre? :S

Meh. I would talk to SOE customer service first.. Perhaps they don't take the boxed version of the 30 day period anymore, I would not want to see you charged. You may end up having to get your money back from Play.com if SOE doesn't honor the 30 days..The boxed version has not been sold in stores  for several  years.

Yeah, that offer seems likely to have been closed ages ago. Apparently, it still allows you to post on these forums without paying anything, though. )

Grab a 2 week trial off the station launcher instead.

My advice would be to do the following:

  • Then Click "Search the Knowledge Base" on the right. (at this point you may have to log in)
  • After that click the "Chat Support" Tab. and follow instructions.

There you will get to chat live with an SOE Customer service rep, Explain the situation and they should be able to sort you out hopefully.

----

While you wait for them to get back to you, you could always make ANOTHER account (7 day trial will cancel your 30 day trial if i remember right,so be sure to make a new account it you want to avail of your 30day trial that came with your gamebox), Make sure you doint use the names you would like to use on your main account though since character names can only be used once and are locked to an account.

Free Trial linky..

SMILEY No worries, the other guy was right.

Incase someone else gets this, just enter your card details, and it basically gives you a discount of minus £9.99 so yeah, that lasts 30 days then i pay.

So..after i done this update, what server should i join, persuming that people still play

#36300557669 05/13/2009 07:46:58 Re:help

Plenty of people still playing, but morale is down. The game is a shell of its former self, but it still got enough content to keep a new player occupied.

Vector- forced pvp server, friendly to new people. Can seem empty, but it isn't.

Syntax- non-forced pvp, most populated server, but most of the time its pretty boring. People are just standing around 1 phonebooth doing nothing.

Recursion- non-forced pvp, equally full of drama queens and friendly people.

Oh, Riac.  For shame.  I will expect your resignation letter from Les Enfants Terribles on my desk in the morning.  /tsktsk
