Ok, I have been back to MxO for about a week now, and I've kept track of MxO through friends I've made on here, and by checking into DN1 from time to time.  Honestly, you guys need to stop your b****ing!  So we won't get anymore offical story content, so we won't get anymore missions, etc, whatever.  Honestly, even though Chadwick and Rarebit did do the best that they could with what they had, I really didn't care for their story telling style, and I know a few others don't either.  Rarebit is now gone, and we now have a choice.  We can either contiune to whine on DN1, or we can either put up or shut up.

I don't know about you guys, but I am truging on.  I am still writing Meta's ongoing RP story, and I've taken part in other people's RP, and I actually have a few RP events planned myself.  One that should be coming up very soon that I am really excited about.  So we don't have an offical storyline anymore, honestly that just frees us to be more creative, to finally let us explore where we couldn't explore before because we were restricted by the offical storyline.

So, you can either take advantage of this opporunity, or you can sit here on DN1 and whine and moan.  Which one is it going to be?

#36300548080 03/02/2009 15:11:26 Re:Either Put up or Shut up

I dont care for the storyside either, but as paying customers we have the right to moan.

We are investing our hard earned cash into a videogame in the middle of a global recession and getting nothing for it, surely some of us are better off giving $15 to charity?

I'll still continue to play for the reason i've always played PvP, but nobody should have to put up and shut up and deal with it, if everyone followed "Put up or shut up" the world would be controlled by Nazi's right now.

What i would like to know is, what drove you to make this post?

#36300548081 03/02/2009 15:11:51 Re:Either Put up or Shut up

You realize that you're whining and moaning about people whining and moaning, right? :p

#36300548082 03/02/2009 15:13:20 Re:Either Put up or Shut up

I'm a total agreement; I used to co-GM a fan-created Matrix RPG back when MxO was in Beta and I was saving for a new comp to be able to run the software. I still have a lot of left-over ideas I want to run with, and now that I have the chance, I'm going with them. I still have Sieges and Morraeon and Merrill's stories to tell, as well, and there's a lot of items I haven't collected, Mission Contacts I haven't run missions for and Archive Missions I haven't run (and will be finding ways to use the latter to create whole-cloth missions from, much as Tranque has done).

Also, no, we don't have a "right".  If you don't like how things are run, you can always take your $15 else where.

Actually yes we do have a right, some of us have invested 4-5 years worth of money and time into the game and still continue to do so.

Yeah I agree! Stop being *edited* guys!

So what if we're not getting any story content?

So what if we're not getting any cinematics?

So what if we're not getting any new missions?

So what if we're not getting any new enemies to fight?

So what if we're not getting any new abilities?

So what if we're not getting any interaction with characters from the movies or even the game itself?

So what if we're paying money for a fancy chat room?

So what if everything we love about The Matrix has been raped?

So what!

We've still got Fenshire. And really folks, isn't that all we need?

Personally... I think MxO has gone from being an MMORPG where we were spoon-fed the storyline, to something like a tabletop RPG with a 3D chat room. We have a set of rules about this universe, we have NPCs we can write stories involving. We have different character templates and organizations to work from. We just need to put our geek thinking-caps on and make a little more effort to create the story.

#36300548120 03/02/2009 16:17:58 Re:Either Put up or Shut up

I'm really two hands for player RP events with Animatrix-like sidestories. But at the same time, I want an official main storyline, and it's not because MetaLogic or anyone else doesn't care about it that all of the players don't care about it. I personnally do care and I know a lot of people that do so too.

So, my point is: do player events, but don't think they can take the place of an official main story. Do these events and keep asking for a new head dev for this game. Maybe it will not be useful at all. Maybe. But if we don't try to make it as obvious as it can be that we want and need it, if we don't keep asking for it, we'll never know for sure if we could or couldn't influence our SOE big brothers.

If we try and fail, well - that's how life is sometimes. If we don't try, we'll be sure to get the same result, but also a part of the blame to take.

I don't pay so I can make my own content.  It's like going to Burger King, buying a Whopper, and then having to make it yourself.  No thanks.

If I want my own content, I'll play an actual tabletop RPG, where the players are all within striking distance.

Pretty good analogy. The game was definatley marketed 1 way (that way failed for several beurocratic reasons) and now we have a shadow of what that game was.

I would really rather have what we have now than have no MxO. But I think I am about done with these types of discussions. I can't imagine the regulars of these thread maintaining their tolerance for much longer either.

And furthermore:

Economics 101:

Money is exchanged for goods and services.

In a marketplace, if Vendor A is selling poor services for too high a price; where Vendors B though Z are selling appropriare services for a reasonable and fair price; it is fair to ask Vendor A how he justifies his fee when the services are far substandard to all the other vendors in the marketplace.  If he doesn't give a good justification, then it should not be unexpected if Vendor A goes out of business.

We are asking Vendor A to justify his fee.   Nothing wrong with that.  If he can't justify it, he should lower it, at the very least.

Agreed. However there will always be whiners who believe their $15/mo. entitles them to whatever they want. I don't see why we would need a dedicated Dev like Rarebit to implement those tools.  They are essentially Dev tools.  They could be made available to subscribers the same way SWG story tools are now made available to its players. The tools are already there,  but they're server side options.  It's not a stretch to make them client options and you wouldn't need a dedicated Dev to do it.  Afterall, we're not talking about making more clothes, or constructs, weapons, etc.  You're just giving access to tools that are already programmed into the game.

Agreed. However there will always be whiners who believe their $15/mo. entitles them to whatever they want.

I don't know if you just fell off the turnip truck or what; but money is exchanged for goods and services, at least last I checked it did.

Flame me all you want but you won't shut me up.  YOU are paying money and in exchange you are able to play an online product that works and is virtually bug free.  Your implications like "the turnip truck" are insulting just as your racially motivated comment you directed at me in the past was.  I recall Virrago booting you for that.  I guess some people never learn.

Lol you're the one who broke a perfectly good 18-month old thread.  Nice Freudian projection there too.

Keep lashing out at those who expect a baseline service for a monthly fee, soon enough you'll have a nice empty husk of a game all to yourself.  And don't give me that EULA garbage, I'm sure you'd be the first one pitching a fit if all of your inventory and all of your emails were accidently deleted.
