am i doing this wrong? spent tons of info leveling the abs to lvl 33, activated goggles, and just find tiny blips on my map, that when tapped give 900 xp, surely there has to be more to it than this? any big ones hanging around maybe im in the wrong place etc, is that all there is to data mining? just extracting 900xp from each little blip?
is there a full guide to it anywhere?
It goes up as you level datamining nowdays is mainly used in the datamine construct to farm info.
is it not good for xp anymore? i read somewhere about it spawning npcs that drop boxes, is that only in data mine construct?
All the good stuff is Downtown, in the northern neighbourhoods.
Make sure you have the highest level tap available to you (The higher the level of the tap the better chance you get NPC spawns). The higher the level of the district the more xp and $info you get from tapping too, so tap from a neighbourhoor around your level (Chelsea so you don't get harassed by the gangs, Hampton Green if you want a bit of a challenge).
If you want lots of $info go to the datamine construct and use the luggable datatap, remember to actually equip it to your hotbar and use it like a normal datatap.
fair enough, im using data tap 3.0 as am lvl 33, ill try downtown later, more bothered about xp than info
The XP may never live up to your expectations, but it is great supplemental XP while running missions. You can also get rich in the Datamine and catch good spawns around the city.

Yup, DM made me able to affoard timeshares.
Another note about XP and DataMining is that some taps randomly cause spawns of Data Sentries (or other enemies). Defeat the entire spawn and you'll get a reward. Defeat an entire Sentry spawn and you can get (or is it always get?) an XP booster worth a full 10% of the XP needed for your next level. If you get anything other than Sentries though, it's probably not worth trying to fight so you can HJ and most spawn types will disappear (or at least won't realy follow you around enough to make escape difficult).
