An important word about MxOSpace and Trial Keys

Hi everyone.  We are within a few days of the one year anniversary of MxOSpace, and it has been a wild ride.  I take great pride in the Trial Key program, and have given out 1262 of them during over the last 12 months.  Most of the requests I get are from people who 'really actually want' to try MxO.  This is the way the trial keys were meant to be used, and I feel we've accomplished that.  Some of these new players even decide to stay.

Now, here's the bad news.

I have 10 keys left.  Virrago can not get an answer from SOE as to when or even 'IF' there will be any more.  This whole program may end.  I will be completely out of keys in 2 to 4 days.... and I will have to turn people away.

I'm posting this to try and keep this going as long as possible.  In order to do that... I need your help.  If ANYONE out there has any trial keys that are unused, PLEASE send them my way, so we can do this for a little longer.  I would greatly appreciate it, and these future operatives can still have a chance.

Yes, these folks could use the station launcher.  But it is still in 'beta', and they would have to 'buy' MxO first thru 'Direct2Drive' or some other means.  With the trial keys, they can download the game for free... nothing to lose.  That's the big difference.

So... please!  If you have extra, left over, dusty, tossed aside, trial keys... I could sure use them to keep from turning away players like this:

Hi, i was a former player of MxO and unfortunatley i cannot re activate my game account. Would it be possible to get a trial key so i can see if its worth coming back?

I'm recently new into the whole matrix thing and it is a wonderful movie trilogy. When I heard the online game continues the story I had to try it! So I'm suggesting a trial key so I can experience it first hand. Thank You.

Congrats on one year in service and over 1200 trial keys given out!  MxO Space has been perhaps the most important fan vehicle for promoting MxO.  Many thanks for all the hard work from all the contributors.  Sorry we don't have any spare Trial Keys to send your way. 

Just to clear things up: Trial through the Station Launcher does not require the purchase of the game client.  It's a free download with that method.  In fact, the Trial Keys and the Station Launcher Trial are exactly the same.  It breaks down like this:

Direct2Drive
* Game client must be purchased
* One month free with the game client
* Normal rates after one month
* No special reward items

Station Launcher or Trial Key
* Game client is a free download
* 14 Days free trial
* Normal rates after 14 days
* Hyperjump beta immediately (on one RSI only)
* Mobius Code upon subscribing (on one RSI only)

Thanks again for running MxOSpace.  If there are no more Trial Keys, maybe the detailed instructions for using Station Launcher to get the free trial can be posted there.

MxO Space has indeed been an invaluable method of communication between new, old, and returning Matrix Online players and, above any expectations, advertised MxO as it is to an otherwise inaccessible audience.

From the displays of player art to the links to faction websites that new players may find useful in learning the ropes of the game, should they wish to try it.

What is unfortunate, however, is the uncertainty and, possible cancellation, of the trial key program, especially since there have been so many new players who have decided to become regular players of the game, having found they enjoy it so much after experiencing  the Simulation through the trial key.

Your ongoing dedication and tireless promotion of MxO is very much appreciated Phluff. Thank you again ;)

You should speak to Havocide. I'm pretty sure Raijinn gave him 10,000 trial keys for RMC:Terminal back in the day. I don't think most of them were used.

Thanks bad kitty... this helps.  I really thought the game had to be purchased through the station launcher.  Glad to know you don't have to.   ....but in the station launcher don't you have to give them your credit card??  With the keys, you don't.  And a lot of people don't like to do that.  I'd really like to know.  If they don't have to give credit card info, then it would be exactly the same, and would solve my problem.

Nope. This is probably why you're not getting any more keys, since SoE wants to utilize this format.

Yeah, the ones I gave you were from Havo a while back.

Got em!  Thanks so much.... but man, I wish there was a way to tell which ones have been used.  I can try them for a while, but if I get too many complaints from people saying they don't work... I may start using the Station Launcher info.

Yeah, had to slowly grind my own key operations to a halt over the last few months. I still direct people to SL but buddy keys were preferred by a lot of people, especially with SL still being in beta. Oh well, end of an era and all that.

No need for trial key codes... All you need is to download station launcher beta, use a existing soe account or sign up for a new one and click Matrix Online and "Download Full Game" and if you never signed up for Matrix on that SOE Account you  begin the 14 day free trial =) Just a tip

PS  I never "bought" the game i went from triaal account on station launcher to full account and never had to download from direct to drive (Sure i didn't get a free 30 days... but station launcher upgraded my account for me and i got the full game without having to go to direct2drive or best buy! Best part was no patching even after upgrading from trial because it already downloaded the full game for me when i started in the first place ^_^)

Phluff, you've done and continue to do a fa phantastic (<3 Phluff) job on MxOSpace, the amount of interest you've had about trial keys despite the Launcher being available just goes to show that there is still some people with a preference for trial key codes over the Launcher.

PS I'm not saying Pluff is doing any wrong and i appreciate you changing the post...  i was just trying to be helpful...  I'm new to the game and my only option to getting the game was either direct2drive which i personally have problems downloading thru their client or station launcher.  I meant no harm and hope you understand that. =)
