#36300532848 01/01/2009 18:24:34 Holiday Event Review

This may be a bit premature but I wanted to get some ideas down before I forget them.

Where are the holiday enhanced winter hats? Knit Beanie and I think the Barelhead hat. The newbie one that you get during male character creation.

Also, mittens!

Drop rate for Rubies seemed better this year, but that can be luck and such in my case.

Also, how about a quest for better items with better buffs?

Here's what I mean about the beanies:

The collector in Bathary as well as lots of the bathary boys wear this hat. How about in red, too.

Also, I like a lot of the clothes we got this year, but I would like them better with level appropriate resistances. How about versions with 33-36 points for lvl 50s and similar for lvl 40s and 30s?

Maybe because winter gear is normally all formal type stuff, excpet maybe the 'bathrobes' and boots (but there santa boots). but maybe next your we'll get something like that.

The resistances are just fine considering what you have to do to get the items.  Aside from winter/archive type gear there are only a few items that have all four resistances.  Most of those items have 25pts to each resistance and are much harder to get.  The only item I can think of that has over 30 is Valfreya's Shield which has 36pts to each resistance and no other buffs.

i took that into consideration. I'd be willing to do lots more to get these items with better buffs. I think others would be, too.

Well that's fine but the text I originally quoted was suggesting an improvement on the existing gear.

Oooh, perfect! They'd lool like nice wintery stocking hats/tuques (I know the Canadian players are going to kill me for spelling that wrong)

Welcome to the new MxO. We're glad you enjoy it.

The only thing about a harder quest, is the work thats put into it is only for a limited time of year, which in the players cause would be cool to have a hard to get item but content wise isn't very logical.

Personally, I'd like to see some of the current items with better buffs. For example, Red Boots lvl 50, Red boots lvl 40, etc.

Something along the lines of the Valkyrja quest is very feasable and can be re-run several times during a 6 week period. Something like the Corruptor quest for the Patcher Headgear would obviously be very illogical for a 6 week period.

some people dont have the time to do anything harder. Thats why they are the way they are. You have to take into consideration those of us that actually do something for the holidays, and dont spend all of our time playing mxo.

No one says you have to do it.

I would like to see thigh high blood drinker/hel club female boots in black, red, and white.  Also, the succubus dress.

yes, but only giving it to people who have the time, doesnt make it fair to the rest of us.

If you don't play, you don't get stuff.  How is this unusual?

I think we all understand the concept of farming.  Thank you for your concern, though.

Back on topic, I feel its just fine the way it is.  I kinda like those lovable Yetis.  And note we have well over twice the amount of farmable items this year as opposed to last year, for those of us who want complete sets.

Point is moot though, there wont be another Winter Event.  Enjoy it while you can.  And, it looks like it'll be extended a week or two!  SMILEY

Jees guys loosen up a bit and a little less blunt remarks SMILEY

Zimm has a point that depending on how difficult the task is *everyone* should be taken into consideration. (and we know they strive to achieve this hence the current whole debacle with events etc)

i agree in that for optional seasonal content we shouldn't have to tackle something overly difficult. That said i don't think there would ever be anything better buffed released considering as i mentioned previously the winter stuff is a once a year optional thing. It's what i would call purely cosmetic and "just for laughs". Therefore there wouldn't be any problems with new tasks without any tough new items ^^ so it's a moot argument in my opinion >.<

Its nice its enough and thats all its ever going to be as far as sony can see it... And if they *did* put something more difficult i would be albeit pleasantly surprised. (:

In response to some of the above...

This is an MMO. I have been assured by Rare in an unbrelated thread that things here are SUPPOSED to take a long time to do, it is part of the economic model. Those who do not wish to spend their lives here need not apply...

So, yeah it might be nice if there were some more involved Holiday quests with more substantial goods. However, seeing as the Holidays are about gift giving, I would want to see easier content like we have now as well.

For me, the Holiday Event was largely a bust. The Pantsless G- oop, i mean bathrobes... well... suck. Especially since they cover up the other Holiday items, and/or look stupid with them (unlike the men's vests which actually go with all the other mens Holiday items quite well and rock.)

They could make it up to me next year with white, red, and black sleeveless Open trenches. (Im visualizing the one Niobe has in the early parts of Enter The Matrix. I realize that we dont get new items, but I think you could cut the sleeves off an existing open trench model, although that might leave you without arms, the coat model prolly replaces the body arms, but that should be able to be worked around.) Such a trench would show most of the Holiday shirt, maybe go well with it.

Just my two sense...
