Glad to see more NPC clothing becoming available to players. There's something about the tucking of trouser legs into boots that has bothered me. Catsuits and skin tight PVC/Leather pants (i.e. the female's pants in the IR) fine, but baggier clothing (i.e. the male RSI's pants in the IR) tucked in just looks wierd.
I know that there are a few baggier models which don't tuck in (male derrin sheen pants I think) but many do (such as female cargo pants). I guess it's just my own personal preferences!
Yeah its nice to see this. Not fond of the clothes, but.. its neat!
Cool, cool..

... Hot, hot! (Phoenix after all)
The next chapter is starting at the same time as the Winter Snow-nanigans? Oy, I'm gonna be busy, between running the chapter missions on Sieges and running the winter missions on her brother ( Great way to level a lowbie and make the cash he needs to level his abils).
It's a shame that Winter 2008 and 12.1 weren't released on separate weeks though. Granted it'll be an awesome update as a whole but I prefer stretching stuff out.

You could always take your time! But yeah, I was kinda hoping that they'd be seperate so that we'd have two patches to look forward to this coming month. Oh well, if I get bored with either, theres the other one to do!

Pfft, I'm still working on all of the 11.3 gear. XD

This.
Gonna make a new trial account alt, farm the winter stuff and mail it over to my main in case i resubscribe.
I really like the shirt though.
Great to see things moving to one of my favourite neighbourhoods in the game.
The items themselves don't really interest me at all though. The boots would only be cool if you didn't have to tuck your pants into them.
Hopefully the not yet revealed stuff is worth collecting.
It is interesting to see what appear to be the System Shades minus earpiece on that male RSI though.
Boots are nice, Will they work with all body sizes though >_> ?
I've always wanted that shirt!
I'm glad 12.1's taking place in International, gives the 50's more reason (in addition to the EC gear) to come to the district.

Are they not the Valfreyja Sheilds? I'd still like to see Voids being used as buffed item...

Nothing of intrest in this update.

On the plus side, if he's just going to recycle content literally, then perhaps we can get new buffs on cooler looking clothing.... which implies sort of what we were once told we would be able to do with the crafting system.
More so there's still plenty of gangs out there with single pieces of unique clothing that rarebit can put in game for us, i imagine that just because an NPC previously has it worn doesn't mean it's easy to put in game for the players...right?

Exactly. Some of the NPC's clothing is only set for that NPC's body type (Example: Hel Stompers). That's more than likely the case for clothing like the Blood Noble's highcollar trench. Only body type 1's (or is it 3's? whichever is the skinny one) could wear it without it clipping under the skin.

INDEED OPERATIVE!!!
Well the female shirt is supposed to be higher in detail then the orange razorgirl shirt but if it's buffs are unremarkable for the level then those with the orange razor shirt already may not bother getting it.
I can't remember seeing a female Phoenix wearing that shirt (will check in a sec). If they do then it's appropriate, even though there is a shielded version, if not then I'll wonder if the shirt has a red/orange flip style texture and the IR just doesn't do it justice. Again if not then I'll wonder how difficult it might be to make a orange and red texture similar to the male shirt but shinier.
The female shirt is similar to the existing shirt available to players, but the color is a slightly different shade, more vibrant, and the textures are sharper. I know it isn't a vast change, but I did want to get the other Phoenix items in (the male and female boots, and male shirt), and I was able to upgrade the textures on the female shirt by digging up the original high resolution source art and remaking them from that. They aren't exact copies of the shirt that at least one of the Phoenix females wears, except as far as color goes.
Want boots, and girl-top looks good.
Still waiting for Demon Army boots
THOSE are worthy of the Hellbilly Deluxe album covers. wantwantwant...
Woot! ugg boots
glad this area is being brought some attention though since the only 3 reasons people go there is 1) access key 2) huang shirt or 3) to get away from everybody.

Well that answers my question and I just went to have a look and yeah, the single chevron Phoenix Phlogiston wear them...

It could be just down to different lighting conditions but I did a mock up of the IR and the image above to see if I could compare...

...as Rare said the new one does look more vibrant. I'll probably get it, but I doubt I'd wear it much... it's not really my colour!
I <3 Ike ^_^
Best sun rises in MxO are phrom those docks! Yep, I'll be collecting these.

Perhaps you're right, Vin. At first glance they seemed too dark to be the Shields, but after looking closer it does appear the non shadowed part may have the same "rainbow" look that the Shields have.
All I ask is do not make a mission farming for whatever it is were going to trade iwth. You have several warehouses at your disposal in Ikeburo, please use them.
The boots look cool to me and I have always wanted Pheonix gang shirts for a long time too
And finally they set a crit in Ikebukuro so yay
deffdog wrote:

Warehouses usually aren't going to be an option for buildings I can liberate from the mission system and change into public areas for free spawns or whatever, because there aren't very many warehouse areas for the mission system to use as it is.

I want the Chelsea Main Library opened up someday! Supposedly the home of the Archivist Society, per the old City Guide. They probably intended it for use at a later date but never got around to it. Or intended it to house a mission-instanced only area within, like Club Hel. Archivist Society ftw.

The building is an empty shell. I've looked before but wasn't able to find any surviving interiors for it, if ever there were any.

I wouldn't expect the home of the Archivist Society to actually be a part of the city, more like a gateway... food for thought.

White Hallway style door?
What level will be these clothes Rarebit?? I think, being in international, around 40 right??
Just a sidequestion: Are there any confirmations that there has been a industrial district with powerplant under work?
Datamine is probably what remains of it. Hey, are there any future story connections to DM planned? Could be interesting to get a little bite more of the backstory for it aswell.
Looking forward to the boots. Although they aren't really all that wowza. Guys need more foot wear as stated before in various threads. There does need to be more new lower lvl content to balance out all the new high lvl content. Not everyone is a 50 all the time. So this is a good addition - keep up the work in adding the lower lvl stuff along with the high lvl stuff.
Except for Feng's bowling shirt is fairly unique, the girl top is very common. I would rather have probly taken the red coat some of the other Pheonixes have. Problem is - some gangs sprot unique clothings and others sport everyday droppables. Walrus did say to me that the clothing on the gangs and NPCs is modeled to fit their body type, whatever type it is - 1,2, or 3. So in order to fit it to player avatars, it has to be worked to fit all 3 of those model types somehow. ( I asked Walrus about all this in the morning hours at Fan Faire about the second day over a cup of coffee while watching him play around on his test server at a kiosk. It was just some casual converstation and questions about design and whatnot.)
Here's what I always thought that Pheonix's would look good as. It's just something I always had in mind as thinking they needed. Moar flames! After all - they are Pheonix Gang, Pheonix = Bird of Flame.

If I can dare to hope then I'll hope there will be more than 3 missions in the 12.1 quest. Like... 5, maybe?
*looks imploringly at Rarebit*
Ooh, rad flames.
I do need to get better at painting new components on textures; the problem (for me) is that I don't have all the tools, source files and knowledge that a dedicated texture artist would--I don't usually have a visual guide showing exactly how the flat 2D texture wraps around the 3D model, etc.
The female upper body can be particularly tricky as it's probably the part of our character models that varies most from body type to body type, so in order to keep a design from looking too ballooned or deflated on one body type or another, you either have to work out a compromise texture after checking it and experimenting on all three, or you have to make three separate versions and instructions to have the game pick the right one for the right body type. An example of a compromise I've done is the bustline on the female winter shirt; the only triple version I've done that springs to mind is the female commando pants, which had to be done separately because the "bikini bottom" part of the geometry wrapped the texture differently on each of the three versions.
Since I usually can't justify spending a whole lot of time on texture work, generally if I do add a new element it's pretty simple and/or on a flat area. There've been a few other things I've tried in the past that I ended up just having to scrap because I couldn't work out how to wrap them well.
Oh, which reminds me, another aspect of that is that the polygons in the models are set in certain ways that I never really understand well until I actually modify a texture and run it in the game. I've had cases where I thought I was doing something very simple--a straight little mark, for instance--and it turned out that the texture/model was just set up so that it wouldn't do anything like a straight line at that spot, and no amount of futzing would make it look nice and straight: a straight blobbo, maybe, but not a nice crisp thing. So it's always something of an adventure.

...
Thanks for clearing some of that up, Rare. Hopefully in time you'll get a better handle on it.

Beg to differ! There are also some great neighborhood contact missions, of which Mr. Po stands out from a strong group!
Plus, having lived in Asia, it all brings back such strong, savory memories for me.

Little known factiod: The old Mr. Po missions waaaay back in beta featured a group of Exiles that had a little business going whereby they would re-insert heartbroken redpills that missed bluepill loved ones back into the Matrix as bluepills once again with no memory of their redpill life. Kind of like what Neo was offered (and Cypher to an extent by Smith), actually made manifest. Of course, pretty quicly that got scrapped...perhaps even before EOB, because it would totally conflict with Cypherite storyline goals and later of course bluepill reinsertion being exposed as a fiction! So they replaced them with the current Po missions which are pretty generic, kill this guy, escort this guy types of things. I swear this is true...it stuck in my memory because they were so fascinating and poignant. No one remembers, alas
Certainly sounds interesting and perhaps even a little hasty in their removal. Sure it would confuse people, but what if this 'business' turned out to be a front for something else, they promise re-insertion but don't actually do it?
Of course an issue with insertion if it was true (or even if it weren't and the business was a front)... where would a redpill, who enters the Matrix via hovercraft, go to get 're-inserted'? Would this Mr. Po have machines on the outside?
Either way would have been interesting, but eh, hindsight is a wonderful thing.
The subject of reinsertion really pisses me off, as a Matrix fan.
First... I remember those Po missions, but I wasn't in beta. However, I did those probably within the first month of the game being live. I never knew they had been changed!! As a matter of fact, back when Enmascarado and Germaaskerd were around, a friend of mine that used to play this and wanted to be Cypherite, made Mr. Po part of his RP due to his ability to reinsert redpills.
Anyhow... the reinsertion thing ticks me off, because it was already established as being possible (and actually showing a redpill back in their pod) in other canon sources (the story "Saviors" in the Matrix Comics Vol. 2). Some people here will defend MxO by saying the comics are not canon, however, they had always been accepted as such (not only that, but some stories are written BY the W. Bros, and ALL of them were selected for print and edited by the W. Bros.... how is that not canon?) until this change by MxO.
I'm sorry, but I'd take the comics as more canonical than this game... especially since this decision to make reinsertion not possible came after the W Bros probably stopped paying attention to this game.
Actually, that's a question I'd like an answer to... Rarebit, when you're writing the story, do you submit your ideas to the W Bros for approval? Do you have contact with them? I'm just curious.
Fen wrote:

I wouldn't go as far as that. For example, the story "Goliath" (Comic Volume 1) is really in contradiction with the Matrix Universe as a whole. MxO is at least NO LESS canon as the comics to me.

Good at least I know I wasn't hallucinating them! I'm remembering them correctly, more or less, yes?
