after 2 and a half years of waiting Sony will plan to roll out the open beta of Home. if you haven't heard home is sonys new interactive social network were you can meet other ps3 users and meet and even launch online games, there are a whole bunch of mini games in home like pool bowling and several arcade games. i have been in the beta for about a month and a half and it does seem to be that it will live up to the hype that sony has made it.

Is this something that's going to cost money, or is it going to be part of Playstation Network? Seems like it was a good time for me to get a PS3.

its part of the psn network now if you wanna go out and get better clothes or apartments etc that will be a few extra bucks now this is still open beta im not sure if there gonna start charching yet or not but they said a while back that most of the stuff shoudlnt cost more than 10 bucks

and its important to point out that stuff that cost money is totally optional not to mention will most likely be unnecessary, but more importantly, you wont be paying $10 bucks for chair, $5 for a shirt, yourll be paying $5 or $10 for "packages" that include furniture or clothing sets. You'll you'll be getting a lot more then just one item per purchase.
yeah we should deffintly have a mxo hang out in home some time tommorow or this weekend. i already have a mxo club going were you can invite up to 32 players in one club and hang out right now its me and DevilJohny in the club so hopefully that will cary over to the open beta.
Can't wait for this, bout time something like this was done.

Okay, first off... I got me a big arse cable so I could hook my new ps3 up and got that working. My PSN name is (surprisingly) Fenshire.
Now, I looked around the playstation store... but I could only find a video and a theme available for download. How do I play this game?

If your asking how to play Playstaion Home, its not out yet, just open beta starts tomorrow (thursday) Also Home isnt really a game as much as it is a social networking area just for PS3 owners. You can access little mini games within Home and play with friends or just new people to meet, and create your own virtual "HOME" and invite people to hang with you.
You can also access your real games (MGS4) and if you meet someone who owns the same game and decide you want to play it together, then all ya gotta do is hop in together, provideing of course the particular game your playing supports online multiplayer.
Also just an FYI, the PSN store updates every thursday with new content, with the rare exception of holidays and somtimes there might be a speical release that is updated early on a tuesday or somthing.
I may just hook up my ps3 to the internet tomorrow.

its been a lil rocky morning with the servers but home is now up im loging in for the first time now
well ive explored home the central plaza is brand new the items price was in the store arent to bad furnuture items are 99 Cents Clothing items seem to be 49 cents. and apartments seem to be about 4.99 so far i dont think that is to bad price wise
How big of a download was it, Nubious?

you are able to customize an apartment for free tho right? As in everone has something they can call home and bring people into without having to buy it. I'll be checking it out when I get home from work.
yeah you geta few items to arrange your self beta testers get a opurtunity to have the stuff transferd over to closed beta.

its about a 11 mb dl but it downlods each area to your hd baicly overall it takes 3 gigs of space but each earea you go into is dl and the bigest area you dl is 35mb i think it was but once you dl the areas you dont have to dl them again till they change somethin with a future update.
a heads up servers are very spotty right now..
WTB - Stress tested servers plzkthnx.
Home was one of the few things about the PS3 that's interested me. I hope it turns out as well the initially released details made it seem like it should.

well from what i have seen since i been on Home it is really a great service the arcade is fun and i think now open is up stuff will get even better once they hammer these server issues but all the big ps games has had the server issues
Well servers seem to be up and running for me now ive been on for about a hr or so just seting up my apratment etc
Well, I checked it out. Wasn't really impressed, to be honest.
I think it has a lot of potential, but it kinda seems a little too Second Life-ish to me. I thought the physical character customization was very well done... but the selection of 'free' items to dress yourself in and decorate your apartment with is very seriously lacking.
Not only that, but the selection of available items to buy is horribly limited too (which I'm sure will change).
It's in beta, so I won't complain too much... however, I have a very real problem with having to pay real money for items in a beta game. For it being open beta, everything should be free.... since the game is in test mode.
I'd say that I was against paying money for virtual items, but... *hides his Fan Faire jeans*
All in all... it's neat and it has promise. But as it stands right now, there's not enough variety, paying for a very limited variety of virtual items blows goats, and I got bored fairly quickly.
EDIT: Oh, and one other thing... what's up with the only free facial hair items being Chester the Molester moustaches? Where's mah goat?!

yeah once more game rooms and more games suport game launching i think that will help right now warhawk is the only one i belive that does Thats where you can get a group of players and run a game right through home and im sure sony will have some stuff when e3 comes around in june
Yeah... it's hard to judge it as it is now, but hey... that's what I do.
It'll be neat once they add more things in there.

yea, I'm hopeing because its just day 1 of open beta that it will improve dramaticlly. I have all the same complaints as Fenshire, but I will attribute them to the fact we are still in beta.

Tsusai
Its a bit 'meh' from me, went in, saw the world, left.
*dies from making a huge run-on sentence*
Yeah. Got on last night. Had a nice wonder around, watched the new Watchmen trailer, played some chess, and chatted to random shims (probably).
Looks nice, and I look forward to new areas, houses and items to be released. But for now its pretty nice looking and easy to use.
Now, if only the servers would actually let me back on...
There's tons of potential here, having read quite a bit on what Home hopes to become. Not much to do right now, though. I finally was able to log in, did the cabbage patch in the main square, and some guy called me a homo.

agreed unfortunetly there will be idiots were ever you go. yeah but despite those few thingsits not bad and ive seen worse on Live i do say though i am surprise when the servers are up i hardly get any lag and i give sony daps for that sony's servers once they fix out the loading kinks they are pretty realible ive played several games of warhawk with 30 players virtually no slowdown and FOM i rember wasnt to bad either.
well there has been some new revalations i though i bring up First off during the CES this year EA showed off there new room wich looks like it will be amazing here it is

Things isn't easier if you play as a female character. Guys won't stop flirting with me. The irony. :/
