Was looking around last night and ran across this. I'd read it before, but it had been a few years... was interesting to go back and re-read it. Makes you wonder what old Chadwick's up to now.

The closest they came to that were the corrupted monuments I guess.

Um, anyone remember Path of Neo? >_>
Oh, by the way, it's been a while since I wanted to ask that question: beggining with which chapter (subchapter) is the story written by Rare and no more by Chadwick?
Judging from THIS THREAD, I'd say Paul had complete control over the storyline up to Anome's death. From there, control was split between Paul and Rarebit with them both collaborating on Sati's kidnapping and such.
From 7.2-9.3, I think Rarebit started to gain more control over the storyline with Paul as more of a guide than the person who actually penned the story. I think it was Rare's idea to end the Truce, but I'm not positive. Paul had probably given his "1 year notice" and sort of "trained" Rarebit. That's all speculation though. =P
And from 10 onward, Rarebit's been in full control.

The truce was always supposed to end. In fact I'm fairly sure that was supposed to have happened in the first year of the story/game. But as we all know, things didn't go according to plan and the first years story was dragged out for several years.
I think the assassin was liked a lot more because he showed up when the LET was alive and kicking, literally spent more time jacked in then a lot of players, messed around with impromptu chase events, was taken out by the players, provided insanely rare and cool items and was generally intriguing as so little was known about him.
Anome didn't do any of those things really, his betrayal was far more annoying then surprising, his butter finger grab of the general's key was a rediculously irrelevant story, his general arrival was sort of less them amazing, he provided no one with any cool items or what i can at least say for myself - entertainment - he was generally annoying and uninteresting, and he was killed off in a cinematic.
The difference between the two was effort - the assassin did so much more in the game for the players then anome even came close to - and he never even said a word.
