What do you think of lowbie pvp?

Is there any way we could encourage it.  I have found occasions in the lower level constructs where people just run from it.  Why is there this fear?

I imagine you would probably encounter this on Vector more than anywhere.. but is there any reason why lower levels shouldnt be able to pvp (apart from the obvious threat of higher levels of course SMILEY )

#36300523474 11/25/2008 08:38:25 Re:Lowbie PVP

I think it's awesome when lowbies pvp, easy CQ ftw!

#36300523477 11/25/2008 08:54:57 Re:Lowbie PVP

Well it may just be the simple fact they are inexperienced and don't really know how to PvP, also you kinda feel bad

if you die against a guy who is 1 lvl below you that maybe another reason why they run, and also probably because they

are on a no-pvp server... Maybe they are just not interested in PvP. :/

although to be honest ive not really been to syntax a lot so i wouldnt know just a quick

in n out hehe

Lowbie PvP my dream might come true... To use Devastation Field on a load of level 2's.

#36300523693 11/25/2008 20:07:34 Re:Lowbie PVP

I really like pvping as a lowbie.

I'd like to see more pvp competitions for levels like 25, 30, 40, 45 but it's hard to get enough people together.

#36300523724 11/25/2008 23:03:22 Re:Lowbie PVP

Lowbies duel more often I've seen, or I just challege as a lowbie all the time to make up for pvp.

On vector the only real lowbie pvp there is is you run into another mission team and attack or theres at mara there may be a lower lvl patcher or someone that just doesnt care and recons and dies a million times.

#36300523726 11/25/2008 23:12:01 Re:Lowbie PVP

I think it would work if you had some sort of encouragement for PvPing in the constructs. There is a lvl limit there so it would prevent the high level gank somewhat, you just need to develop some sort of incentive. If there was some way to make it so CQs gained in a construct could earn you loot....could that be possible? What other ways could it be done?

#36300523740 11/26/2008 01:07:57 Re:Lowbie PVP

Datamine provides the paradigm... there'd have to be a reason for players to spend time in the construct and a reason for other players to attack them - like how in order to get the big bucks you have to fight someone for the datamine tap.

#36300523744 11/26/2008 01:37:56 Re:Lowbie PVP

Hmm... I remember when, as a lowbie, I went into one of the first archives I saw another player of an opposing org. Now the way I set up my mouse one of my buttons targets the next hostile and as some of my faction mates know from datamine, I don't always pay attention to exactly what I'm targetting. Anyway I shot him I think for two rounds of combat before realising but he was complaining bitterly before I'd even stopped firing.

So really what I'm trying to say is that some lowbies (those that are newer to the game) don't see Archives as a place to pvp but rather as a place to farm and being flagged is a hinderance. Also I guess that lowbies might think about pvping in a construct if they are at the maximum level allowed because they know that, they won't be ganked.

Another problem for lowbie pvp is numbers, you don't often see many lowbies at around the same level.

#36300523746 11/26/2008 01:50:46 Re:Lowbie PVP

Yeah when i log in as one of my non farming alts and actually go places like the constructs i try to pvp but theres seldom anyone in the constructs and if you are lucky enough to find someone they run and cry.

Kinda devalues the auto flag feature of going into a construct.

Now, if you only could get XP from your cq's when killing another player....

#36300523862 11/26/2008 08:24:32 Re:Lowbie PVP

I predict a slight increase of lowbie pvp or at least duels. Now that meeting will occur on all three servers for the orgs, many people will be willing to create and level a lowbie to go to them. PvP/Duels... It's something to do whilst waiting for the transporter beam.

#36300524155 11/27/2008 09:05:37 Re:Lowbie PVP

I think the main reason is that there can be a big difference between a level 34 and a level 35. Because you would do less damage to a level 35 as a level 34 it becomes extremely difficult to really kill someone even if that level 35 has only 10 resistance. With the exception of 45+ level players as they tend to need much more resistance to keep the damage down.

It's a big reason also why we find a lot of people rushing to 50 because at the end of the day it's very difficult for someone 2 levels below another to kill the other person borderline impossible. I just think we need to blur the lines a bit is all.

#36300524267 11/27/2008 18:46:45 Re:Lowbie PVP

A strong player can kill a weak player even if the weak player is several levels higher.

There's a big gap between 49 and 50 though due to equipment.

#36300524314 11/28/2008 00:48:46 Re:Lowbie PVP

Lowbie PvP is quite different than end-lvl (50) PvP. They haven't got the same "flexibility" in abilities nor in clothing, but they're still more unpredictable than lvl 50s because we're not used to fighting players at lower levels.

I want a large scale PvP match at lvl 25-40, that is all.

I said good day!

#36300524682 11/29/2008 16:45:28 Re:Lowbie PVP

I pvped on my recursion alt from she was mid teens. Mainly stating and debuffing to hinder 50's. Ofcourse i was an easy target but i did have fun.

So i pose the question who has an alt around level 30 that would be interested in pvping in a construct?

WE should get a gathering every so often in a particular construct and pvp. I'd say on syntax since its the busiest and i've seen alot of lowbies floating about ^^

Anyone else?

#36300524714 11/29/2008 20:48:52 Re:Lowbie PVP

I could possibly run a competition in Yuki or One Zero.  The Tetragrammaton would offer prize money.

How many people do you think would be interested?

#36300524733 11/30/2008 00:57:49 Re:Lowbie PVP

If archs don't get my to much higher I would (currently lvl 33 almost 34) so hopefully ill be eligble for one of them if not yuki.

My level 20 Syntax guy PvPs sometimes. Heh.

CptBanana and i were low level dueling at the recursion party today.. and i think this could be really fun lol. We would need people from any server to hand out enough $ to buy a datamine book, then everyone just goes there and kills each other with newly created lv 2s

I'll bring my lvl 50 howitzer along. Just for fun, of course.

#36300535668 01/15/2009 10:36:51 Re:Lowbie PVP

well i think that  the combat system should be changed to allow ppl who lvl certain abilities , perception, beleive, and etc to they way they likke for their class weather its kung fu or its duelist , just casue ur one lvl higher shoulndt make u automatically a winner if that case no real lvling there , pvp should be skill not just lvl  maken it where a lvl 25 might have a chance against a lvl 30 and so forth based on how he lvled and if he lvling maxed and which abiltiy treee like range, should be better against hacker/coder as they sorta like ranger vs mage on any other type mmorpg, and melee agianst range and hacker agaisnt mellee so forth building a better combat scale and more imagination to fighten thanx hope yall talk into consideration all that i said

#36300535669 01/15/2009 10:52:10 Re:Lowbie PVP

was in a rush...so i didnt see which server this will be located...but i would mind puting my lvl 36 in

#36300535725 01/15/2009 12:10:20 Re:Lowbie PVP

PvPing in Sakura was some of the most fun I ever had playing MXO.

Unfortunately on my last 6 50s or so Sakura's been dead every time I go there. A shame.

I was getting ready to type this.. nearly exactly.  Though it's only been the last 4 50s for me.

My all-time favorite pvp battle was in Widows.  It was huge.  There were two different people that leveled out, different orgs, and a massive amount of people were called in to try to kill us out.  Great flarking times.

Different times I suppose.  For me, the last time I saw any good action in constructs was pre-CR2. More population in general, and more people wanted the dops from Sakura and Widows.  They were the "must-have' items.  Now, not so much.

I'll be in Yuki on Syntax this weekend.

#36300536122 01/17/2009 03:06:50 Re:Lowbie PVP

I remeber when seeing a level 50 was like ooooooo RRRRRRRRRRR

and level 20s - 30s used to pvp all the time

was great fun. so many 50s bout nowerdays tho SMILEY

#36300538719 01/28/2009 04:51:41 Re:Lowbie PVP

yeah, you wont see lowbies pvping while your getting the replies on this thread "yeah all those level 2s i could cast a code on and kill as a level 50" thats precisly why, because some of the users are lame, why would someone new to the game, who wants encouraging to stay, as we allready have a population problem, carry on his subscription, when everytime he tries to get a decent fight, some muppet 48 levels higher hits his i-win button and slays him everytime he spawns.... ridiculous

now lowbies fighting lowbies, that would be good, rather than level 50s jumping in all the time just because a lowbie is flagged and its an easy kill

#36300538745 01/28/2009 07:53:08 Re:Lowbie PVP

Flagging for PvP indicates that you're up for some fighting, it doesn't say that you want a fair fight and flagging in Mara C in front of a multitude of 50's doesn't invite a fair fight either.

Lowbies have 3 choices to avoid higher level interference when it comes to fighting each other;

1) /duel.

2) Find an area suitable for pvp with no higher levels standing around (best if you're not lighting up a HL).

3) If you're at the right level, arrange to go to a construct.

#36300538747 01/28/2009 08:13:42 Re:Lowbie PVP

but level 50s insta killing level 2s are still failing at life, the community moans that the game is dying, then acting like retards to people that are trying to get into the game, its the wrong attitude to have, its like watching mike tyson beat up at 15 year old kid who wants to be a boxer that weighs 7 stone, it fails

#36300538811 01/28/2009 14:29:53 Re:Lowbie PVP

Then that Kid shouldn't get in the ring when the challenge is way over his head. I agree people fail at life when they trick new players into pvp and kill them, but if they flag of their own free will then they'll soon see what happens because of it. If they didn't mean to, well.. lesson learned. There are some low levels that flag constantly and have been killed time and time again, yet they still do it. Others go for a lvl 50's shield and then start bouncing around Mara trying to escape anyone chasing.
