I would follow my own rules and not ignore people who get left behind in events when clearly been informed that they had been left behind by other people in said event.

As a dev I would ban passive aggressive players.

As a dev i would make sure banned players were not able to return on another account

I know rite?

Sounds a bit counter-productive to me.

1. Some players who've been banned, haven't deserved it. See: Players being unbanned a couple of years down the line, most of them played on with new accounts. If they hadn't still been playing, they probably wouldn't have bothered.

2. Loss of revenue.

Plus customer service tends to deal with accounts and bannings.

Oh, and I wouldn't rule out people learning their lessons either.

generally an account is not banned straight away unless it is a major breach of the tos they are given numerous warnings for different offenses if they cannot learn from each warning frankly the account deserves to be banned or ill take your point and say maybe a temperory ban is appropriate so the player can return once the ban has been served but not continue to play on another account while the ban is active.

You'd have to look at a lot of the new accounts, though.

I mean, we can all either hazard a guess or name previously unbanned players who are now playing under new characters, I would suggest that if they are still commiting the same offenses and being warned/temp banned for them then they haven't learned their lesson, however, if they're not and their account is clean I'd feel it's fair to give them the benefit of the doubt.

Underestimating how long it can take to get through to some people would be a little wrong, because it can take longer for some to get the message over others.

Plus, it's almost impossible to do.

Ban an IP? The player changes his ID.

Ban a credit card? People aren't restricted to one credit card.

You can put a ban on there address and credit card.  this would prevent any other account being setup from that address.  You have to give the correct address registered to the credit card in order for the automatic security checks to be made.  If you were to put a temporary block on that address it would prevent this unless the person were to move house or register his new card under a different address for which he would have to provide proof that he is living at said address when he applys for the card.  The only downside to this is that siblings may have problems with this method but if you were to do it in a way that no new accounts were registerable but current ones were still valid this would solve this problem.

Dunno if the billing system would be good enough to allow already active accounts to work, presuming it's as tempramental as the rest of the systems but even then seems like a lot of hassel which can still be overcome (change of address, family member living at a different address, even friend living at a different address).

If I were a dev, I'd have a live event that would include Pentangle and a pole.

#36300523578 11/25/2008 14:26:22 Re:If you were a DEV...

Too much hassle to track down and police permabanned characters that create a new account.  They can always get started with an SOE gamecard (trust me they're still out there).  Those dont require an address or anything.

Accounts are not being handled by devs, but by CS as it has been stated in a previous post. Ergo, you're deviating

I understand that it's more of a dream Cringeey, the thing is you've mentioned the restraints (i.e. budget, staff, etc.), which give it an aspect of seriousness , although barely anyone took those aspects into account, as you've asked.

I guess that if I were a dev, ignoring those restraints , (e.g. staff and budget), I'd recreate the Loading Area, the way it should be. Without elaborating too much, think of "guns, lots of guns". I'd create the different types of swords we've seen in PoN and create animations for new moves involving those items. I would recreate the hyper-jump to make it more "realistic" or if you wish, close in design as the one the rest of the Matrix Universe offers (Animatrix included). The minimum I'd do to change it is environment change on impact (see Flight of The Osiris, MxO cinematic 1.2 - Morphy)

I do agree with certain ideas that Shadow presented earlier here, one of them being the level cap increase , which I would do gradually (i.e. 50-60, 60-70 , etc), given the intense work and requirement of new content for those levels.

Also, I would reinstate the LET or some form of it and have at least 1 LE/month for every instance, to ensure the Live Events are not just a pointless meeting for the players.

There are alot more ideas i have and ones that I would accept from what players suggested, not to forget bug fixes and storyline course. I would have contests for player-made cinematics, which would start when the chapter ends and the winner movie being included in the next update as a cinematic of the previous chapter. Legal issues can be solved with good will and patience.

Even if some of these innovations you might not find as useful, I believe they would definetly captivate the players more, and increase the player base.

As the visions most of the people have posted here, this is just a dream, in which MxO had at least as many ressources as the successful MMOs out there today. In reality, all this would go to /dev/null.

#36300557323 05/08/2009 12:02:20 Re:If you were a DEV...

Clearly: Real PVE-Constructs with own contacts or collectors...

#36300557366 05/08/2009 16:28:05 Re:If you were a DEV...

I would just shut it down. No money to make the game better. No support from the top. I would stop wasting people's time and money and move on to something else.
