I have been annoyed by it since beta and it's still an issue sometimes when the game crashes and you try to log back in the object supervisor won't let you. Fix it in some way I don't really care how.

Captain Kirk, make it so?!

Seriously though, uh, it's probably a, I dunno, necessary component for the server to function as it does? Can't really just go turning things like that off :O

I suppose it can be edited or make it forcefully jack out the character so we only get that message once. I was a bit stressed on the first post, sorry about tht.

Reason why it waits, is that the server is assuming bad lag, like if you load a bad web page. My router had rebooted once, and everything froze. Connections re-established 15 seconds later, and I was still able to playing. Else its going to timeout and there is a set time. Now, as for kicking the person off on a reconnection attempt, it is a possibility in a computer programming way, but given the server is as complex as we think it is, it would be a pain in the you know what.

Yeah man, and those region servers, so freakin' annoying can we just get rid of 'em?!

Well making some basic assumptions, the object supervisor only ends your character object's session when your client sends a specific msg packet saying "I'm logging off, kick me." In the case of a crash, that message isn't sent, so the server has to wait for a timeout. If that timeout duration was changed to something small, it'd eliminate the problem of "Character In Use..." but the consequence would be that those with packet loss or crappy connections would randomly be booted from game all the time. It'd be more worthwhile to try and figure out on your end what's causing these crashes, as I don't think crashes are that common for most of us (except last week, when we almost killed Camon with zombies).

On the very odd occasion I got that message, I log in and out on a spare alt/mule from an old RP story and try again. It's alway let me log right back in as normal doing it that way.

I am not syaing they are common, but they still happen for everyone I bet from time to time to almost never. And Vinia that worked for me as well couple months ago but for some reason it doesn't work anymore.

I have a fix that works:

Wait 2 minutes.

If for some reason you get stuck ingame on a very rare occasion, use the out of game CS ticket system to ask them to unstick your character.

In those two minutes you wait, think of all the useless constructive idea threads you can make!

I dunno about MxO "assuming bad lag" or being able to re-establish a connection.  I've been having issues with my router that cause the game to lag out and desync, but the issues never bother any other game or my web browsing.  Or if they do, it's only a second or so, like the router is resetting my connection.  At any rate, MxO is not handling my connection the same as other apps.
