Another FX I'd like to see.

Rarebit, If you are going to continue releasing FX like flame virus, fly virus, etc, I hope you throw this one on the list:

Seraphim Wings

From your image thread, it looks like there will be wireframe FX, so hopefully FX will continue. I think this one's pretty cool and can be used for RP a great deal.

Seconded!!! We've got a fallen/neutral angel theme to our faction, so I'd love to design a recruiting poster with a bunch of us sporting the wings.

Valshamr, White Plain Slacks + wings... sweetness. Would absolutely love this.

In all honesty, I haven't seen *anyone* RP an angel, out of all the different kinds of Exiles that pop up in game canon, and all the different sorts people have run with. Frankly, I wouldn't mind it at all, since it's something that hasn't been done before, much less run into the ground. I don't have a problem with what people RP, as to how they do it. As long as everybody and their brother doesn't start doing it, because then it gets silly and ruins the originality.

And for that matter, neither are we, I meant our faction to some extent emulates the idea of fallen/neutral angels; having the Wings as an FX would make the recruiting poster that much easier to make, since the wings would fit the poses of the RSIs better, etc.

I agree, I'm voting this one down.  As cool as angel wings are, I just think it would venture too far away from the Matrix Universe (inb4 pew pew, wireframe guys, etc).

Balthial and photoshop are going to be your best bets pretty much.

Whoops, that was before my time... But still, it's a nice FX I'd like to have... maybe as a reward for the Winter Holiday missions...

No, it's because it is non-Matrixy because according to the established canon so far, there are only two types of angels out in the Matrix. The ex-agents who are locked up in blackwood ony to be released here and there through pandora's boxes and are recalled after a time if not entirely killed and Seraph.

And no player falls into either of those categories.

And I'm sorry, but everytime I saw *Gothique bites into her neck to feed* my palm hit my head so hard, I was worried it would fly straight through. So I shudder to think where my hand will go if I start seeing *XXRANDOMANGELXX flys 80,000 feet above you!* *XXRANDOMANGELXX uses SEISMIC TOSS!*

I think there are far more interesting and practical FX we could have instead.

To me, the Exiles don't get enough coverage in the canon, and I don't mind when someone RPs an Exile in a sane, reasonable, non-god-moding manner. I'm one of those players myself, and I really don't like seeing Exile RP lumped into the same category as the one or two wack-jobs who gave other Exilic RPers a bad reputation, merely because they were the most visible. Squeeky wheels getting the most oil, etc. I'd say we could use an expansion pack that would allow a player the room to create an Exilic character, but that's a moot point and it's also going off-topic.

Honestly, this just seems like its something people want for their own roleplay stories. Every other FX reward has something to do with the storyline, these don't.

But, with the new RSI capture tools, players can RP exiles in the asthetic sense and look like an exile. 

1. Farm an RSI Capture Tool of your choice

2. Make an alt with an Exilic background and name

3. Give them the RCT.

4. ???

5. Profit

Uh, no, they can roleplay looking like an exile leader. That means roleplaying as an important, named character like Jack the Hack.

I know this.  I'm just saying it's a step in the direction.

If this were a year and a half to two years ago, we'd have half a million Sylphia's running around.

While the idea of wings is a cool one, I would prefer the fx to be kept in the vein of story related stuff.. especially with the changes coming to the way the fx will work where they are all nearly perpetuals.  Actually, I can see a lot more people grinding out the flame virus with the new near perpetual status... and that, even though it's story related, is something that would stick out just as badly as the wings would.

As for the argument as to what is acceptable RP and what isn't.. really, that's a pretty argument to be having in the first place.  As long as the RP is done well enough and fits within the universe (which angels, vampires, lupines, non plain jane operatives, etc. do) I see nothing wrong with it.  It's also not like Player X choosing to RP something different somehow hurts your own experience.  If they for some reason bother you that much, just use the /ignore function.  Problem solved, and everyone gets what they want.

What did the War Sword have to do with the story? Or even the Ninja Scarf (which was based on content, not story)?

Didn't the sword come out for chapter 8 when the war was back on between Machines and Humans? Also, yeah I missed the scarf, sorry, I stopped getting any of these after Seraphic Vision came out.

I can see a lot of the con points-of-view and agree with most of them. But I must ask the obvious question as to why angel wings, from Seraphim Agents or Past Agents, doesn't qualify as storyline?

Regarding /ignore for RP, there is also Ctl+F for FX. Not that I like doing this, I actually don't like doing it ever since Meretrix hit 50 and didn't get her screenie of "Level Up" becuase she had Ctl+F due to morons in Mara healing people for no funky reason.

But the option is there, and in the spirit of The Matrix: The problem is choice.

It does qualify as storyline and canon, but only in the sense that it refers to the Agent Angels.  It's ok for them to have them because that's what they are, and they're being pulled out of their constructs representing earlier versions of the Matrix.  The current Matrix doesn't support people to have wings and fly around since the "Paradise" formula was abandoned. 

I know it's kinda nit-picky.  But, I think it boils down to what an operative of Zion, Machines, or the Merv can obtain as a human RSI within the parameters of the Matrix story.  Code eyes are feasable because the Unlimit used cheat codes and theoretically an operative could've found one.  Flame Virus... yeah, the jury's still out on that one.

Angel wings are just over the line between Canon and 400-year-old-lesbian-vampires.

That says it in a nutshell. If another person wants to RP a plain-vanilla Redpill, that's fine by me. My main is a plain-vanilla Redpill, but I have an Exile alt who feeds off the code of other Exiles. Not that she goes around biting the necks of other Exile RPers, she just likes to mow through the gang spawn. It's just me thinking a little outside the box.
