Recently my roommate threw soda on my gaming PC and all I have left is my Laptop.  The only game I really care to play on it is MxO, but the last time I tried it was like running Crysis on a intergrated card.

Basically, I need some stuff I can put in the UserOpts to make it run a lot smoother, aka make it look like EQ 1.

I'm running with an ATi RADEON XPRESS 200M (127MB) card, Vista OS 32Bit (I can't figure out how to format back to XP on this laptop :/ or I would), 446MB of RAM, and Intel Celeron M Processor 520 @ 1.60 GHz

So basically since I only have 446 MB of RAM it's hard to run things on Vista.  I just need some help on making the game run smoother if anyone can help SMILEY.

eep

that laptop is sharing system memory with video memory... and as such doesn't meet Vista's minimum requirements, let alone those for MxO. We can try but don't expect anything beyond terrible.

  • turn off any aero related thems in Vista. Revert to the Windows 2000 look as that uses much less power and memory.
  • Close every possible program. I wouldn't be running any IMs or anything that isn't critical for running the system. close everything but your anti-virus.
  • in MxO set all your graphics to minimum. (you could probably get away with medium quality textures.)

You should be able to run fairly smoothly, but expect horrible load times. Setting the Graphics to minimum will reduce the amount of stuff MxO loads into memory so It shouldn't load too slowly, but it will need to load stuff every time you enter or leave a building.

That should get you online... post your MSINFO (including the section on running programs) when you are done with that (instructions in this thread) and we'll see if we can tweak it some more.

P.S. I should add that I started playing MxO on a system much like that, and the strain on my system burnt out the video card in under 4 months... so I hope you can move to a better system soon.

Yeah, I'd much rather run with XP, but I can't reformat this computer for some reason.  I try to boot from CD and it just goes to the Vista bootscreen.  I've set the boot order correctly too. /shrug
