First of all, MacGuffin (found here) can be described as "a plot device that motivates the characters or advances the story, but the details of which are of little or no importance otherwise."

Way back in Chapter 1.2 (and seen in the cinematic) and in the MxO game manual in the box, the refusal by the Machines to return Neo's body sparked Morpheus' actions and the events that subsequently lead to his death.  However, since his death, Neo's body has been all but forgotten; but the question always remained, "What happened to it?"  And thus begs the question:  was it ever going to be revealed what happened to it?  At this point, it's been almost 4 years.  I'm curious if plans changed to reveal this or if the intention was to never touch upon it again.  If it is the latter, then it leads to two more questions:

  1. It is mentioned in the Assassin's Memoirs that the Assassin was denied recycling Trinity's body, and that it had an unusual device connected to her neck / cranial jack.  Again, this mystery has not been touched upon again.  Why is that?  Another MacGuffin?
  2. Around Chapter 6.2, the remnant of Neo's RSI was placed in Westview in the basement of that fight club.  IIRC, Rarebit had stated it was requested by Chadwick, and I had thought something was planned for the "body."  Yes, a couple of years later, nothing has come of it.  Why is that?
Anyone have any thoughts on this?  Is anyone else curious?

I tend to think of MxO as a game version of LOST.  In LOST, we've known about the smoke monster since episode 1 and we've yet to find out what it is or what it's doing there, etc.  Heck, we've even known about the Island itself since episode 1 and we've yet to figure out what it is.

However, the advantage of LOST is knowing that in 2 years we'll have all the answers (supposedly).

Which makes me wish sometimes, only sometimes, that this game would go under but give us enough warning so that Rarebit can reveal all the answers.  Actually, even a story from Rarebit explaining everything would be acceptable.  I just don't want to be 85 (in 67 years) and STILL not know where Neo's body is.  That would be great in some ways because this game would still be going and still be popular enough, but seriously.  It needs to have an end at some point, even if it is another, Lord willing, 10 years.

The last Zion Crit, "101", makes me think we're heading to learn something new about Neo or Trinity. The BIP's message "Knock, knock" seems to be a step in this direction to me.
