Do you get this error when trying to open any other applications? Be it other games or just utilities?

Have you noticed any function's of your operating system acting 'odd' lately? such as MyDocuments or other such directories for your user account not doing as they should?

Have you recently brought any new hardware? such as a hard drive?

Have you recently updated your operating system or had any recent changes to it?

What is the User32.dll file?

Windows stores instructions for graphical elements such as dialog boxes and windows in the User32.dll file. The User32.dll file is necessary to the operation of Windows. If this file is damaged, deleted, or removed, the system will no longer work correctly. If a program or a service accesses User32.dll incorrectly, the program or the service will not work correctly.

User32.dll errors are typically corrected by repairing the User32.dll file or by reinstalling the program, the hardware component, or the driver that is causing the error. If these procedures do not correct the User32.dll error, you can restore your computer to a condition before the error appeared by using the Windows System Restore feature.

How to fix common User32.dll problems: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/142676

If it is only MxO that is having the problem then it is launcher.exe or matrix.exe that is damaged. (That procedure call is supposed to be GetDesktopWindow() not GetDesktopWindog() )...
Of course if you're really unlucky it could be bad RAM.

If the Launcher is able to boot far enough to do a Full System Check then run that. If not you may need to reinstall MxO.

Let us know how it goes.

Apologies for leaving people hanging, I forgot about this thread.

The problem was combated by - as with many computer issues - a simple restart
