I had a thought the other day....

Wouldn't it be nice to have a holster for gunmen trees and a sheath for the knifer tree that could fit right into the book slot. I'm not sure what you could use for MAs and Hackers, but I'm sure some creative minds out there might have some thoughts.

Then I thought it would be nice to have something that would reduce the re-use timer for specific attacks whilst maybe reducing IS cost during use. Im not talking about adding defenses or resistances on to the item as I think we have plenty of items in game for this now.

You could have two types of holster: One that goes around the chest or 1 that goes around the waste, likewise for the sheaths.

I appreciate this would take some doing, but I just thought that it would be cool is all. Obviously an item like this would take some farming!

Messing with timers is a bad idea but the rest sounds pretty neat and do-able.

As much as i try to avoid agreeing with Cadsuane she's right in this instance, the system here is already pretty messed up combat wise, if you start messing around with the timers your likely to throw any sort of semblance of balance between the trees, but it's a very neat clothing idea suggestion, a nice change from:

 "i...i... i want a blue one!"

Your probably right about the timers,  it would take masses of work for something that might/would cause problems to the current system we have. It would be nice just to have more use of the extra slot other than: Book, Mentality/Mastery and launchers.

That's true it would be nice to see some more off hand stuff, maybe some in game trinkets that did other sorts of buffs.

If your talking about viewable items on people then I can't see it happening. Some security forces have holsters and radios but they are part of their pants model I believe. Unless there are already seperate holster and belt models, then a model will have to be created which is unlikely.

Now an item that you don't see, that can be done and I suppose it could be done as a holster, but if noone else can see it, it might as well be a blank square giving you an IS reduction bonus or something. In fact there has been a thread recently about using some of the gang tokens (or farming the tokens for a special version which doesn't stack) as items to put in the tool slot, and although others won't be able to see what you have equipped, it was pretty well thought out.

There would be no point unless you could see the item. I don't see why it couldnt be done, you can get katanas as such as a visual, so in terms of a body holster, there isn't much torso movement with an RSI so maybe it could be possible? I understand that the Katana, Headtorch etc are on the outermost items so to layer a Holster between clothing items may prove difficult,, but anything is possible. I could be an optimist however, it's just in my nature! Would love to get a holster like Cage in Face Off. That would be awesome.

In my eyes, it is just a shameful waste of an available slot that COULD be put to good use

As for the actual idea.  As nice as it would be to have these extra little features, the possible balance issues outweigh the asthetic gains.

Hackers: little Blackberry clipped on the belt? Although that would seem superfluous to the head-mounted eyepieces used for datamining and such. Might be funny to be able to equip a little MP3 player on the belt with white earphone cords, and give an IS regen bonus.
MA: a sash?
