I think it's time we get some new disguises to our collection. We got a halloween coming up, so why not get the old disguises back from 2006 halloween in the collection? I know the disguies should be a bluepill, but this is one of the few places, if we add some new disguises could be fun for many reasons.
What do you think?

Huh?

Talking about disguises, an idea (which isn't doable, probably): NPCs should be able to distinguish disguises, so that if you enter a mission area, you need to put on the right disguise, in order to fool the NPCs in there. For instance an exile hideout -> Lupines or Vamps, but if it's a security area (like Orouboro offices) you need to put on a security guy disguise otherwise they'll still find out that you're not supposed to be there.

I could've sworn the thread title was 'Diseases - New Ones!'.

In the Master Shadow tree, you can use a disguise.

How about like those regular ol' org NPCs like the bald Merovingian woman with the red pants and black top, or any Zion with white hair and newbie clothing, or the merovingian hacker guy who is also bald and wears purple with the launcher that looks like a headset.
And I like the idea about NPCs distinguishing disguises.

when i first saw disguises years ago I hoped they would do that, but sadly no they do not :[

It does seem silly that a Lupine can infiltrate an area full of tactical security and they don't think it's out of place. :p
On the subject of new disguises, it would be pretty cool to see some new ones. What is currently the highest level of disguise available?

20 or 25.. i cant say i pay that much attention to them.
Im sure the agent disguise is one of the highest?
#3630050292409/25/2008 03:39:30Re:Disguises - New ones!
Thats what I figured, that the Agent one was the highest. Having a couple more high level ones would be cool.
#3630050292509/25/2008 03:45:42Re:Disguises - New ones!
there are a few others that are around the same level but they rarely appear.
I would say theres plenty of scope to add more disguises. There could be bonus etc added to them the higher the level i would say, bonuses that tie in with the spy trees id say.
#3630050293309/25/2008 04:20:42Re:Disguises - New ones!
What sort of bonuses do spies really need with disguises?

Well what about anything that reduces the chance of detection... noise cost modifier. I know its a disguise and not sneak but similar buffs would be good.

Disguise duration, mainly.

Agent Disguise is lvl 30.
I'd like to see some new ones to mix it up a little. Basically ones for exiles that don't have a Halloween mask, like Commandos, Dire Lupines, Club Toughs (those othe two models besides the two we have...male and female, they both wear hoods). Maybe even Nightmares and Succubi for consistancy's sake. Other bluepill ones as needed.
#3630050445009/29/2008 18:47:41Re:Disguises - New ones!
Good ideas.. and I was also always mystified by the fact that the type of disguise you wear really doesn't change anything. Infiltrate an Exile hideout? Sure.. this Agent disguise will be perfect.. >.> Would certainly add a little bit of spice to infiltration style missions, and it would actually go some of the way to give that branch of the ability tree real purpose instead of just a sneak without the speed penalty.
#3630050492910/01/2008 06:53:48Re:Disguises - New ones!
How about a disguise for every exile gang, and if your wearing one and the gang sees you get attacked they back you up untill the disguise breaks?
#3630050493110/01/2008 07:06:39Re:Disguises - New ones!
I like the stipulations suggested above with different disguises more effective against different exiles. What I don't like about disguises is similar to Shinryu said about it being a sneak without the speed decrease but along with that the distance from enemy required to put one on is too small. You aren't supposed to be able to use a disguise if your opponant can see you yet I can get rooted and spy can backup a short distance and apply the 'disguise' in full view.
I understand that there are certain limitations in the game engine, but the game does allow for using world objects to block views (HL's walls etc...) so a spy would have to get out of all hostile views to apply a disguise. But I guess my idea of a spy and MxO's designers are a little different.
#3630050494210/01/2008 07:40:43Re:Disguises - New ones!
See the thing is.. NPC's are totally stupid. I always figured thats why they dont flinch when an agent walks in.
No Vin and Shin (ooh rhymes!) are spot on. There should be limitations to how disguises are applied. As someone that uses the spy tree as their main i know (despite being seriously rusty). Its like a get out of jail free card sometimes.
If you are in view of a hostile op there is no way you should be able to activate a disguise. The op would be like.. hai.. i see youuuuu! ::BANG BANG::
You can even get shot and the diguise still sticks. Thats not on surely?

I did hope that one of the dev's could give us answer about if it would be possible to make new disguises? We seen have they make the Halloween maskes, so adding 5-10 new disguises from level 40-50 maybe with buff's would be nice.

Interesting idea.

Maybe a bit of a necro, but it would also be nice if having a disguise on replaced your player name with some NPC name and changed your details to something more appropriate.
ie. I put on an agent disguise and it say "Agent Brown" above my head and if you select me it says I am lvl 100/255 (even though I wouldn't be) to make it seem like I am an agent spawn. Could be cool in PvP.
#3630052487511/30/2008 23:30:05Re:Disguises - New ones!
if only that where possible...
it would freak everyone out!
on a side note it does get rid of what build you are... which is sorta pointless since its an infiltrator ab your most likely mkt and if not assasin or ms.
now it would be cool if the RSI captures changed your name at least

Winnar.
For the love of god, no new disguises, just this. Please. At least it would finally make sense and add some spontatnity to it.

How hard would it be to implement though? To me it just makes sense that the ability should have some use against players too.

That would be great. Plus, it would make much more sense for the idea behind a Disguise. "Well, he just rooted me and broke my shield, but since he looks like an agent, he must've forgotten about Punting me"
#3630052510112/01/2008 16:38:39Re:Disguises - New ones!
Shame a disguise doesn't have a collision detection which knocks off the disguise if they come in contact with their target. This would prevent people applying the disguise (usually in full view) then, in order to get behind their target quickly (behind being anywhere from actually behind the target to coming in at a 90 degree angle) they simply run through their target and suplex or punt as soon as they can.
