I'm surprised no one's mentioned this recently. After all the hype it's had over the past couple of years, it's finally out today! SMILEY Who's got it? With any luck it will have popped through my mailbox sometime today.

(I realise there's another thread about Spore, but the title isn't very obvious. SMILEY)

Looks fun, I'll look into getting it I think.

Haven't got a copy ... yet. But if you can do all the things you saw in the trailers, then that game is epic.

There is a percent chance that I've been playing it since Wensday >_>

There's also a good chance that it is indeed quite enjoyable, from cell to space takes about 2 hours total. Space stage lasts uh, forever. Real hard conquering every star in a galaxy/going to the center of the galaxy.

I'd've been playing it on Wednesday too if my supplier had shipped early like they usually do. SMILEY Blast them.

Yeah, I've heard the first stages are pretty easy and quick. I'll play on hard and drag it out a bit. I'm in no hurry.

ah, well thats a point that wont sell itself to me, the quickness of the first stages. I was kinda hoping for a fair while to get to a space faring civilisation, a couple of days good play or something. While I've not played it, I guess I was hoping for challenges along the way which forces you to evolve the creatures but come across a repurcussion or evolutionary dead end which means their de-evolution some way and trying again. If this is the case, then it seems to be done very quickly. Still I'll see what others think first.

Well, I guess it depends how you play the early stages. I pretty much killed everything within sight ASAP. I wanted to move on and blow up planets, which NEVER gets old.

Biological Anthropology prof said she wanted to get this game with department funds and make it mandatory for the class.
I support the motion wholeheartedly and will probably get it myself sometime.

For some reason I preordered this game through EA Games' Online Store. And for some reason I selected a physical copy rather than a download. So I have no idea when they will ship it to me or when I will get it.

Needless to say, I am very anxious to get my hands on it.

when does it officially release for download purchase?  I may pick it up but I don't buy physical copies anymore... wife doesn't like my game boxes taking up room for her shoes.

It'll be out this Sunday, September 7th.

What do you actually do in spore?
#36300495399 09/05/2008 14:57:15 Re:Spore
You evolve a creature from a celluar level up to being a galactic empire basically.

And occasionally blow up some borg-wannabe's planet, like so:

EDIT: Also, just got to the center of the galaxy. lol.

Right...

Conquer an economic city through religious ways. You'll get the choice to make the new city religious or keep it an economic one. After that you can build economic vehicles to conquer the rest of planet with.

I had a very aggressive style through the whole game so the first city was a military one. Eventually, the last remaining city surrendered. They were the second biggest, having two cities. They were no match for my army of planes though. I destroyed cities in a few seconds, haha. =D

I'm thinking of beginning again from scratch. I enjoyed seeing the evolution of my creature on a timeline. I'm going to gather all the parts to get to this creature I build yesterday: http://www.spore.com/sporepedia#qry...st-500032494772
