Greetings programs! Oh. Sorry. Wrong movie. SMILEY

Newly Awakened here. Well, okay, L8. Have to say, despite all I heard about the game (and experiencing some really weird graphic glitches... although upon reading the TechForums, it's Vista) I am enjoying MXO immensely.

I've also not seen an awful lot of players around, but I guess I'm just in the wrong place at the moment. Trying to get my head around the 'Coding' lark - may be a bit complicated for me right now. For the time being I'll just stick with punching foes in the face..!

Two questions, if you don't mind:

1) What do I do with those floppy discs numbered 1-8 that I seem to pick up constantly?

2) Are there any central "HQ/Stronghold" locations for each Faction to hang around in? For example, while I know Zion is outside the Matrix, is there a central base for Zionites to gather? Same for the Machines and The Merov's Club Hel? Probably an awfully fan-ish question, but if I don't ask... SMILEY

All in all, good to be here and I look forward at being killed over-and-over by you all. LOL

Welcome to the Matrix, and welcome to Vector!

Those floppy discs called bits. You need them to craft Tools, Consumables, Abilities, Clothes and Weapons.

No there are no special organisation locations to hang arround except the White Hallways. You my remember them. The Oracle and the Key master used them in the movies. You need a special key to get into them.

Hey, welcome to vector!

cypnis is right that there are no special organisation hideaways except from the white hallways, and they aren't seperated for each org, you can encounter one another in there.

Some factions have claimed hardlines as their home ones, so if everyone isn't at Mara Central PvPing (that tends to be the central hardline for everything going on) then they'll be at their faction hardline. A couple of examples, Morpheus' Legacy, Zion faction, hang around Morrel and Dark Evo hang around Eshean. (I can't remember the exact hardline >_>SMILEY

Since you are from the UK try jacking in at late evening, its usually more populated areound those times. Also if you try and get into a faction with more Euro players then you'll have more people on closer your time then SMILEY

One bit of advice, Remember after lvl 16 to keep your evade up, It's saved many lives xD

Majority of people will tell you the same. The majority of people hang out at Mara central usually, but after level 16, this will become dangerous for you SMILEY.

Each organisation has a stronghold, but only if you have purchased the Key, and even then, only up to 6 people can go in....basically a mission team. So there's no real mass hideout/stronghold for each organisation.

Although sometimes, and especially back in the old days, certain hardlines were noticably used by certain organisations, not as much today, but still sometimes:

Moriah East - Zion
Midian East - Machine
Apolyon Northwest - Merv.

You shoulda check out the whole Matrix. There are several beautiful spots. A good way to explore the matrix is, to find all hardlines by yourself (get the coords and run for them).

Well... I think I'll leave my exploration for another time... Spent 15 minutes running from flocks - flocks - of purples on my expedition. Was finally cornered and shot to pieces. LOL!

Fantastic fun. Now if only I could work out how the hell to get new abilities, I'd choose Hyper-Leap. LOL

Speaking of which.... there's "Hyper-Leap Beta" in my Abilities Tree attached to the root Awaken. Not entirely sure how to get this (if at all). I suddenly recieved a "Mobius Code" somehow too.

Gagh. Don't mind me. This game is - ironically - a whole new world to me.

Actually, I tried to download the Trial a good while back, but the installation files were always corrupted. I stopped trying in the end (which explains my 2007 forum reg date and only recent jibber-jabber.. SMILEY ). Tried again a week or so ago, and it still failed (something to do with a checksum). So I purchased the full game on trust and patched directly from the Launchpad. I've /claimed a couple of times, but only seemed to have recieved the Mobius Code thing. Ah well. Not really an issue - looking forward to leaping like a gazelle very soon. SMILEY

Well at least when you go and get yourself flagged the reds will make it faster for you. Brommerz77 is a mission machine btw!

Any player on this board can make you any ability, it's up to you to take a little iniative and ask them.

Finally worked out how to purchase/upgrade my abilities - boy was I woefully underequipped. It's all so clear now. Great system, if you don't mind me saying so. Harkens back to the ol' pre-NGE hybrid templates in SWG *wipes tear of nostalgia from eye*

As for flagging red - I relish the challenge when the time comes.

SMILEY I will admit, I had awful trouble deciding on an avatar.  But I always enjoyed Marsters on Buffy/Angel (and now Torchwood... despite the fact I think the show is dreadful IMO) and if any character could port into The Matrix well, it was Spike.
