I was browsing the forums just before going to sleep last night and came across this thread. Needless to say I stayed up later than intended. I eventually stopped at the the steps one with the balls rolling down!
This was Edge Magazine's 'Internet Game of the Month' in today's issue. I've managed to get to the level with the goal directly below the starting point. Gotta find a way to swing the block over the edge. H'mm...
It's really interesting to see other people's solutions. Sometimes you think "Oh, why didn't I think of that?" or "Haha, that's far too complicated." but it's always fascinating to see the process a mind goes through.
I wanted to see if I could deliver the target with a "lander" rather than launch it.
An exercise in unfurling self-removal change of direction and carefully tweaked variables... It's kind of funny to watch and when it finally gets there it tends to get a cheer from onlookers:
I love how at the very end, the initial "Contraption" rolls off the edge of the cliff because of the Anti clock - wise wheels, with the one Clock - wise wheel not being enough to stop it... followed by the tiny unpowered wheel... followed by the massive sphere.
May as well share my favorite achievements: Slingshot for "15. Down Under" Tank for "16. Awash" Conveyor for "14. 4 Balls" Roller for "21. U-Turn"
I'm stuck on "Unpossible". This was my attempt but there's no way to fling it around into the goal area. I think I need to rework my design. Still trying to figure out how to do 17, 19, and 20. Obsession is an understatement.
Success! Crane for "17. Handling" Way more complex than my previous ones, but it works.
Also notice how I said... "an extreamly simplified version of a small part of" Implying the LittleBigPlanet will have MUCH MUCH more to the game.
And considering I'm sure LBP was in development long before this Fantastic Contraption thing, your logic if flawed.
*Sighs.*
Of course LittleBigPlanet will have more to it. The only argument I've ever tried to put forward was that it's not as original as the unwashed masses think it is.
Was it in development long before The Incredible Machine? I doubt it.
