I'm sure this was discussed here before, but now that Datamine has taken kindof a back seat to Sati's Playground, I think it's safe to discuss it again.

I am wondering if

a) it is possible for Rarebit to change Datamine FFA pvp so that if you are teamed with someone they are not hostile to you?

b) what does the player base think about making this change to Datamine?

I know that team-based pvp has long been something the pvp community has desired for this game. I can remember people begging for this on the white forums during Beta. I also think it would be a huge bonus to Datamine, giving us just one more reason to go there. Thirdly, non-hostile teaming means rezzing inside DM would be possible, which would also benefit Datamine by alleviating the construct exit/entrance problem.

So, what does everyone else think?

Seeing as how most people already do or did this in Datamine, I don't see the harm in doing so. However, I suppose it would boil down to risk vs reward on that. If you team with people, that would lower the level of hostilities in the place, and thus - would the payout have to take another hit with the nerfbat?

Either way, people do this already (as far as teaming) and just avoid attacking each other while they farm Raeder or whatever.
I'd go with it personally.

Thanks Travi. One point your post made me think about is that, if you are teamed in Datamine, there are a great many abilitites (such as the entire Howitzer/Destroyer tree) that you can't even use.

So, no good team buffs/rezzes and no friendly-fire abs in Datamine if you are teamed.

I say that if you want FFA pvp, you can choose not to team with anyone. If you want team-based pvp, you don't con red to the people on your team.

Opens up several new possibilities for Datamine, don't you think?

Though this is a pretty cool idea, I think Recursion and Syntax would whine about the heavier ganking they would get (they could enter Datamine and get 6v1'd). Plus, with the larger amounts of money you can still make there, I think it should stay as difficult as possible so that it doesn't get nerfed again.

Datamine is just fine as it is. I don't see any compelling reason to make this change.
