Seeing that rarebit has somehow figured out how to implement the cold and wet moods into the game, i figured these should be just as easy.

-Couples Emotes
--/loveseat - a simple emote that would allow for the couple to sit closer together, perhaps allowing the asker to have an arm draped around the accepter's shoulders or something, lasts until one of the participants moves
--/laydown - similar to /loveseat but has the two users sprawled across the couch, allowing the receiver to be on top and have their arms wrapped around the requester
--/embrace - much like /holdhands or /holdbothhands, but think of it as more of a perpetual hug until someone moves
--/slowdance - a slow dance, lasts as long as one or the other moves

Anger emotes
--/throwphone - throw your phone into the unknown!  pop up a magical one!
--/punchwallhole - punches a 'hole' through the wall.  could be used for several occasions and even make some funny moments.
--/fingercount - shows the user trying to count to 10 with his/her fingers, only to get frustrated at 3 or something

Laugh emotes
--/laugh - redefine the laugh instead of a random circulation to one long happy laugh
--/evillaugh - see above but opposite
--/chuckle - a low /giggle

Feel free to add your own ideas on emotes and give a review of my own, it's much appreciated.

Do these emotes already exist in one way or another? We know the /cold one has been taken from one or two of the NPC's up by the Uriah toll gates. The other one I don't think I've seen before but it could be either a prexisiting mood that didn't get into the game or another existing animation that have been tweaked.

I very much doubt that Dev's, with all the skills they have, can create a mood or emote from scratch... not just yet.
However, that being said, I'd love for there to be a plethora of new emotes, with knowledge of the animation software, imagination (and database space and Dev sleep time) is the limit.

can't hurt to start a list

Indeed.
Great to see initiative!

I support the list!

Single player:
/shhh (or /bequiet)
/sneeze
/dance6, dance7, dance8 (some additional dance styles would be awesome and would really help bring back the party scene SMILEY )
/cartwheel (how much fun would it be to cartwheel between mission areas? ok not very matrixy, but then neither is /russdance)
/binoculars (pulls out a prop like /drink, only with binocs)
/freakout (get away from me! lemme out! I want out!)
/umbrella (like /leanwallloop, just stand there with an umbrella) YAY!!!
/whatever (or /diss)
/drawgun (draws your gun and hold it aimed at someone/something)
/pda (takes out a PDA and consults something on it, then puts it away)
/bunnyears (makes bunnyears behind someone else's head)

Two-player:
/slapbutt
/high5
/high5hug (two handed hi-5 and then hug SMILEY )
/high5round (like in Top Gun ..did I just date myself?)
/kisshard (woobaby!)
/kisscheek (mwah-mwah)
/slowdance (which loops until stopped)
/punch (when /slap is just too girly)
/patshoulder
/touch (just a sweet loving touch on the cheek, I know, I'm a romantic)

Speaking of, it'd be nice of the /holdhands emotes would last longer.

I'd rather see Dev time getting used to fix bugs such as The gunman bugs instead of time being wasted on emotes which we have enough of already

Well it seems that Rare's been looking into the gunman IL bugs as well as enabling these new moods. I'd say his time was split between sorting out bugs and new (or enabling NPC abs/emotes etc...) content. I think it's a good system, splitting your time on different objectives usually prevents you burning out on one subject. I do the same at work, when I'm not working on new networks, I'm checking out my subordinates work.

heh, sounds like the high five is a necessity.
#36300488740 08/14/2008 22:03:15 Re:Emotes
I was thinking like a /finger of /givethebird or somthing. For when u dont want 2 get ccrd lol. But for real a /finger would be alright.
#36300488752 08/14/2008 23:34:25 Re:Emotes
They do have a sort of Variant on the finger/bird on the /insult for males, but I suppose it couldn't hurt.  Only problem would be ESRB restrctions, but it's Online, so as long as it follows the CoC They'd put it in.
#36300488764 08/15/2008 01:01:56 Re:Emotes

I'd like to see certain insults actually flagging the insulter for PvP. So the insultee can attack them, if they want.

Also /pushoff - a proper full on push for when two people are squaring up.

Oh As, /cartwheel is more Matrixy then /russdance. I mean when did you see Neo russdancing?

#36300488770 08/15/2008 02:55:44 Re:Emotes
/youandme  (The player points to the targeted in anger and then points towards himself, could be for evoking PvP)

The idea is not as to what suffices brom, it is to what conveys.  If something is conveyed, then you have achieved something.

SEE!?  We must continue our voice our opinion!  The latest image retrieval is proof.
#36300490425 08/21/2008 12:43 Re:Emotes
Lol, I could think of quite a few people who would use that emote constantly.  Good idea, az.
#36300501956 09/22/2008 20:10 Re:Emotes
Something i discovered when kicking about Club Hel today...could this be /liedown? SMILEY

Course once you get down flat, you sort of spring up so you are standing (maybe thats why we never got the emote possibly?) but it's kinda there...just thought id show this as i never seen it before SMILEY
#36300502052 09/23/2008 00:50:06 Re:Emotes

Well seeing as we know that the new emotes are, in fact old, emotes perhaps we could get a glimpse of what other old emotes there are so the community could work from that point on.  Like it was said, there is no better way to learn about something than to strip it down and investigate.

The lists of emotes to be had is endless really.

#36300502203 09/23/2008 12:17:10 Re:Emotes
Okay, here's one based on an animation that's already in the game. Next time you see Francine, watch her .. she does this cute little wiggle, almost like her saying, "check me out, I'm sexy!" and she moves her hands in kind of an hourglass shape.
I say we call it: /slinky
Trying on clothes would never be the same! SMILEY

So of all the other emotes suggested and requested over the past few years, how many of them were thrown out in the most recent update?

Well with numbers like that clearly we do need to suggest more.

Not a new emote, but something feasible with the current ability and time schedule of the devs, as well as a way to get new mileage out of the old emotes.
/gun
This command allows one to toggle on or off the appearance of their character's equipped weapon, making the weapon model appear in the appropriate hand, or hands. In addition to allowing the guns to be shown in something other than the combat 'mood', this would allow emotes to be used with the guns drawn. For example, /point would cause the character to point at their target, gun in hand. /pointleft /pointright /pointback etc would also benefit from this. The /bang and /bangbang emotes would look a whole lot cooler with real guns, and even the new /rush emote would look pretty neat with a rifle or shotgun held in one's hand.

#36300502388 09/23/2008 21:33:17 Re:Emotes

seriously though, look at the new ones -

They texture in an eyedrop bottle for an emote which i can't for the life of me understand is in game, it's only amusing because of how rediculous it is, they give us wine bottles and pills, - but we don't get an umbrella? - seriously that could be a new off hand item, cue collectors and hours of farming which we eat up and convince ourselves is content. I won't lie, i'd walk around with an umbrella, even though my shoulders get all pointy cause it's really not textured that well.

But miming an umbrella? - That just seems so halfassed. Like they started taking it somewhere and then were like..... ugh umbrella models don't exist except for closed ones in those canisters, screw it no umbrellas. Lame.

Also going along with void's it'd be very cool RP wise to be able to point and hold your gun on people, or have like a two person hostage emote or stuff along those lines. It is kinda of painful to have a animated weapon system but still have to pretend to pull out the gun in your inventory.
