You'd be amazed at how many worked behind the scenes rather then held liaison positions which is the only LESIG job that's changed it would seem.

In some cases not even that. While the position and role of "liaison" is gone the characters still remain. Harkee and Catalyn from Syntax come to mind as former LOs that are sticking around and still acting as operatives.
I missed the whole scanline thing while on a break; what would it cost to get a hold of one, useless or not? Was it an in-game item? Anyway interesting stuffs if it ever comes to fruition. And yes we do still have LESIG 
just no liaisons.
