Very simple, really.

Perpetual items that when activated by the player, would initiate the "Code Bomb" or "Code Pulse Device" effect...  then have the standard 5-minute-or-so reuse timer.

You mean an FX item that would create the explosion effect?

Why can't we have the real thing for luggables or something? That would be so much cooler and interesting, would add more fun to PvP AND the vastly un-fun luggables.

There's already terminator bits being used at every other Recursion Syntax event as a pvp device now.

May as well make and ballance one thats actually intended.

PvP has had enough "fun" added to it, in my opinion.  Between FFA combat, the Intruder bits, Smith Rage Pills, and other consumable items, luggables and buffs, why not let something like this be strictly for effects?  I think the last time the RP community got any real love was when we were first given the Prop Vendors.

Sounds like a good idea to me. More RP items are definately needed in-game.

I'm for this, especially since I was never online when any of those devices were detonated and couldn't witness them firsthand.

My only problem is seeing it used in PVP to lag people out.  That or, say, a Mech uses it near a Zion/EPN/Merv org-locked building to mess with the event.

See, I thought about that too.  But this is what I came to the conclusion of...

1. It would be a Perpetual Item, meaning it would only be obtainable as an event reward...  so not everyone would have one.

2. In the off chance enough people with these Perpetuals were to get together on the server, they'd only be able to fire the item off once without having to wait for the reuse timer.

or atleast make them a vendor item but say make them like 10 million a bomb or device

To me we almost need an RP area for stuff like this. Yeah, I know it'd get kinda annoying to have to go somewhere for it everytime, but that way it could stay out of pvp and live events. That way we could get spawns outside of just override bits, stuff like cpds, code bombs, etc.

Open up all the buildings so events can be run in peace.

From what I'm aware of these CPD's are extremely difficult to code and are in most cases entrusted to Org leaders and not the average grunt. I say keep the CPD effects for LE's. At least when they are used once in a while it makes for an entertaining LE, if you see it often it'd lessen the overall effect.

Make it a singleton item and you're set. I don't think it'd work as a Live Event reward because none of the org heads use the item, and so it wouldn't make sense to hand it out.

Just put them on the prop vendors for a high price (50-100 million for a re-usable item with a 5-10 minute cooldown). Or have a shifty NPC somewhere sell 'em. Either way, as long as they're singletons with a fiarly high cooldown, they can't cause too much trouble. Hell, Rarebit set off about 20+ in a row in the same location on Recursion before without impacting server performance.

Nah in all seriousness I was hoping for grey bandanas someday but the image retrieval just killed the thought of that ever being special for Cypherites. I don't know though I fully agree.

That would really be nice. You can argue that within the storyline they wouldn't fit but then again we got 13 feet high flymonsters in Westview, Vampires on the streets and Angels in downtown, so ehm I think there's plenty of other things to awaken bluepills also, so why not make these as more interesting player devices to drive the roleplay along? Don't tell me that the Kid or Shimada is coding up something that anyone with the time and effort couldn't code up themselves? The Org. leaders are just captains which happens to be heroes like Luke or Han Solo in Star Wars, we're helping them along, but we don't have to be feeling totally powerless while doing so ourselves, do we?.. because then it's not really that fun to help them at all.
