Crazy amount of focus on this MMO. We'll see if the hype lasts. Seems to be more of SOE's focus than the Agency, which is strange since the Agency should be out earlier I would think.

Run buy SOE, means it going to be **** good for the first 6 months to a year until it's hit with a sweeping combat revision which causes 50-75% of the community to disappear, taking an equal percentage of the development force with it while the remaining community reminisces about "the good ol' days." Consequently, it will still have more developers, servers, and test servers than the Matrix Online even at this point. Including at least three animators. It will, however, have little to no continuing plotline.

Fixed.

IGN: When I'm doing these cases and capers, do I pop up to other people? The thing I would think is that if I'm helping Superman on a mission, wouldn't I get swarmed by a hundred other fanboys wanting to talk to Superman?

John Blakely: Well, it's not necessarily that. He'll be in a personal relationship with you. You'll have a communicator either by the JLA or the Legion of Doom and you'll be able to communicate with this. So, he might pop up and he might tell you "Hey, go here. Down in this district something's going on and you have to go over and take care of it." Then, as you get there, that content that's relevant for you will pop up. We're also using what we're calling a surplus model concept, which means as objectives spin up in the area, as you consume those objectives, they spawn more objectives. Case in point might be an armored car rides though -- if you're a villain, that objective is hit the armored car, y'know? There's an opportunity for you, but as you hit the armored car, now more objectives pop up because, well, the police are alerted and the police come in. Now, if there are other villains in the area, they can participate. As your threat level rises, heroes are beckoned in to protect the police officers. Their objective is opposite to yours, so it's a really neat, dynamic environment that creates. As people consume content, it creates more content for more people to consume and so we bring all of those people into that kind of heroic fray of heroes versus villains in the shared space. Obviously in the instant space it's more of a story-driving encounters. They'll lead you through. That's where you get the really personal attention from the character that isn't through the communicator interface.

^--- Awesome.

That was the impression I got too. I don't know, it just seems like everyone has given up on MMO's. Like everything has already been exhusted at this point.

Not too surpising. Most MMOs have the mentality of "buy at launch, screw you n00bs." Only MMORPG that doesn't have this habit is World of WarCraft, and that's really not saying much.

i understand that it is like city of heroes but it is my opinion that city of heroes doesnt have a fan base that be compared to DC

i mean come on? its the freaking DC universe! i think MARVEL has to throw their hat in da ring now!

city of heroe's cant compete with the big dogs!

but....

SOE has the DC universe! this iz most unfortunate and saddens me, and i dont think i am only one that thinks that. SOE knows they can frack a game up.

the dc universe will no doubt ROK! will SOE take care of it? will they fire all the devs after a year? will they give up on it?

more than likely, they buy these games but they dont have a clue how to keep them going?

they have to learn... that u have to keep a serious dev presence in order to be successful, u got to keep churning out content and upgrades!

why do u think world of warcraft is so successful?

if soe had it, they would have fracked it up!

I don't trust their ability to properly depict these characters.. The trailer itself already stinks of sellout.

If I trusted that I may give it a shot but Nolan upped the bar for Joker.. these guys seem intent on lowering it yet again with a very cartoony depiction of the universe.

There needs to be a fine line between comical and depictive realism when making a game like this with well known DC entities. They already crossed it in one trailer into the cartoony. I can handle WoW its subject matter can be rather dark at times in the higher level instances but something tells me collecting 10 pumpkin bombs for spider man aint gonna be all its cut out to be.

First thought: NEAT! Wonder what my costume will be!

Second thought: Oh wait. Is this going to require Vista? Too bad. Guess I'll stick with CoX.
