Just noticed a problem with quoting pointy brackets. I don't think it happened before this forum update, but I'm not absolutely sure about that. Might also occur with other characters used in HTML markup--haven't checked.
The problem: if you quote a post containing text surrounded by pointy brackets, <like this>, the brackets and what was between them don't show up in the edit window while you're writing your addition to the quoted text, and don't show up in the resulting post you make. For instance, if someone quotes this post, my previous sentence will have just ", ," in it instead of the "like this" words that were there between the brackets.

Yup. I noticed that a few days ago, but didn't mention it because I couldn't remember if it used to do that before. Looks like it hides anything even slightly HTML-like.
One of the first things I learnt when doing Web development was to turn any greater/less-than symbols in non-HTML input (such as posts made with a GUI like this) into their respective character codes so they don't behave like HTML in the final output. You don't just remove them and their contents!
Web development 101 guys. They're disregarding the most basic design practises. (Although I confess it could be the TinyMCE people who fouled this time, might not be Web Presence. Someone's being an idiot, whatever the case.)
I just put the newest version of TinyMCE on my site and I have yet to have any problems remotely resembling what we are having here. All it comes down to is they messed up big time on this new update and I'm sure it will never be all the way fixed.
Who thinks we should go back to the Lithium forums? heh
ER, i cant View/Send PM's and the link on my profile is missing.. not sure if its due to the update or not as it was fine a few days ago >_> tried relogging a few times and cleaning out my cookies, my other account works fine. O.O
Not a bug that has any direct affect on forum users.... I guess you could call it a slip up if anything... clicking on the links will take you to a 503 error page...
The forum now deletes the last return from a post or PM. Unless you enter at least one return at the end of your PM text, your sig gets chunked onto the same line as your text:
The return-eating is a bit of a peeve of mine, partly because I use Firefox, which doesn't render the single-width "hr" horizontal rules that the forum uses to separate post content from a poster's sig; to avoid having my text run right across the top of my sig, I got in the habit of entering a return at the end of my text. Now I have to enter two. Otherwise it ends up right on top of the sig like this
I now seem to have a problem where going to these forums in Internet Explorer loads a blank page.
It works fine in Firefox, though logging in is a bit odd. My login is accepted, but it never finishes loading the page you're redirected to afterward, and often I'm redirected to the login screen which, oddly enough, tells me that I used an incorrect username despite the fact that I am now logged in.
I kept on getting the blank page on FireFox, had to clear out all my cookies and private data to get the forum to appear, I get the same issue with logging in as Neoteny and also I see this...
I just ran into a problem where posting a new reply caused it to appear as the only reply on the second (last) page on a thread, despite there being several other posts on that page.

Nope, we've seen that before.

Another problem.
When I posted in this thread, the redirect took me here: http://forums.station.sony.com/mxo/...mp;#36300481329 which not only put me on the wrong page (2 out of a supposed 2, when the post actually was the last on page 1), but made it look like it was the only post in the thread.
No consistency in the calculations relating to posts and pages. Pagination is not difficult. The original forum code probably worked (if somewhat inefficiently); what did Web Presence do to break it, and why?
So I was hit with the post eating bug again, when I was informed in lovely bold red text that "you must input a message before you can submit it!" or something like that. Luckily, I copied my entry before hitting submit, so I simply reloaded the page and pasted it in again, then clicked submit.
However, I was promptly greeted once again by the same lovely red message, despite being very aware that I had input more than enough text to qualify it for submission. I refresh/copy/paste'd several times over, eventually being frustrated enough to type "THERE IS A MESSAGE HERE, I SWEAR IT." into the bottom of the entry, which then made it work.
What is wrong with these forums?

I did wonder why you posted 'THERE IS A MESSAGE HERE, I SWEAR IT.' elsewhere.
That's crazy. I could understand (though not tolerate for more than a few seconds) if maybe it only picked up typed characters rather than pasted stuff; so if you pasted the message it wouldn't realise you'd added anything. But that doesn't explain the red message the first time.
I want a "Preview Post" button. I want a "x/20,480 characters left" tally on top of the editor so us long-winded fellows know when our post is getting too big. I want automatic image resizers for signatures and avatars so we don't have to edit them manually to get them in without the Mods jumping on our tails.
Why do we not have these things?! My fur is wet from my tears (plus I fell in the human toilet again).
I can see a new post has been added to a thread, however when i actually go into the post by either starting at the begining of the thread or clicking the last post link i see no new posts. This happens in the majority of threads. I have tried refreshing and its still the same. I have tried different methods of getting into the new posts but its just not happening.
SOE hang your head in shame this is rubbish. As ive stated elsewhere we are affectively paying to access this forum with our subscriptions. Why are we the customers getting shafted up the botty?
so eh...uber fail? i never noticed untill it was pointed out lol now its unavoidable >.> then again i dont use many features of the forums text in a box...post...read...close >.<
Ever think they're testing them on some foreign browser that no one EVER has? lol
After today's maintenace, there is a bit of a margin on the left between characters and the body border. Also, a new box for adding links in text. In the box there is something that says Link List, but it seems to have no function yet.
Yeah, they've added padding to the paragraphs in addition to the margins they had before. It's showing in the editor and the post, so everything's really spaced out.
Awesome. They don't even know how to use CSS properly.
I swear to Foamy, how hard is it to copy code from a SUCCESSFUL website, paste it here, and claim you did the work yourself? It's not like anyone's gonna call you on it.
And after entering the post screen, the back button doesn't work (in Opera at least). I need to select a page at least two steps back before it'll work. This wasn't the case before.
