I also wonder if it would be possible to have character anonymity that way (for those super-secret alts, you know?
I guess this would be useful mostly to roleplayers, but I figured I would throw it out there anyway.
Be kind.

Cue pic of 'The Database' wrapped in lasers.
Sadly I think that is what would make that impossible here, creating a character would add it to the forum and if that was possible xfire would have set it up for everything to be added there.

Its like these things for WoW and a few other MMOs, they automatically update when I level up or change armor or whatever.
Saying that, Rarebit has given the details to the Web Team to add a CQ leaderboard to the website, so mabey he could get the information to do this but as the Web Team wont even add the CQ leaderboard, there is no reason to >_<
How could I have forgotten about The Database?
Sometimes I think we need an orchestra to play ominous music whenever it is mentioned. But I suppose that would just invoke The Budget.
I think we should just be glad that our forums actually works half of the time, before we start invoking The Database and The Budget.
And the fact SOE could care less about our game, because the minimal is fine. Just as long as it doesn't go off the deep end.
Actually, I don't think The Database would be a problem this time, as much as I'd love to post Capone's comic.
It's open enough that regular SOE systems (account management, chat system, Station Launcher) can access character details. A persona system for the forums would use the same hooks, so it would be alright.
Of course, Web Presence would actually have to implement it. So, eh, scratch that idea, no matter how easy it might be.
But they've done it for EQ2? I'll believe that when I see it.
