#36300466140 06/10/2008 10:33:27 Hi and a little help.
Hello,

I've decided to give the game another chance. I was in the beta, but quit after the disastrous release. I again tried to come back after CR 2.0 but couldn't really get into. I'll be honest, WoW won me over. I'm a huge matrix fan, but with the bugs, the fact that everyone I knew in r/l played WoW, and with being a hard core bliz supporter since Warcraft 2, I couldn't resist. Anyway, I quit WoW a year ago and with summer rolling around, I decided I'd give into the months long urge to comeback to mxo SMILEY

So currently, I'm lvl 25 on Vector. In the past I leveled up both the infiltrator and gunslinger trees, as well as some of the coding abilities. So, questions:

1) Will either the infiltrator or gunslinger work for well for soloing? Should I pick one of them and just run with it? I would like to group more, but I always end up soloing alot. I don't want to pick the wrong build and then bash my head against the wall and not make any progress. I also would prefer to use what I already have going for me,  but I would start over if I really had to.

2) Is the economy still worthless? One of my biggest disappointments from before.

3) How much played time does it take to hit 50?

4) Is it possible to focus on crafting while leveling, or will I just cripple myself by trying?

Thanks for the help SMILEY

I like the feel of a small tight-nit community I get from the boards. I look forward to getting involved.

Peace

Welcome to Vector!

1) Either Infiltrator or gunslinger will work. To be honest pretty much every tree works in Solo but some are better than others depending on what your doing.

2) Pretty much, farm the low level constructs though and sell the drops for info to level your trees, that way you can have more than one going.

3) Depends on to many factors so I won't answer.

4) Again depends on what your crafting, crafting in MXO doesn't really take long. Just decomp when your taking a short break, code your abilities  and pills and stuff. It's more of a money sink then a waste of time though. It does make you more self sufficient though.

What org are you?

Welcome back again to MxO!

1) While I never used gunslinger or infiltrator when I leveled up in the old days, I would think gunslinger would be better.  With my alts, I used both SMGs and MA, and I found MA to be the best, most efficient, and quickest way to do missions and grind up xp.  Since gunslinger is more on an interlock guns class, i'd think it would be better than infiltrator (but someone with more experience in the spy tree can probably give you better advice).

2) I wouldn't really say it's worthless.  It's a bit different an WoW's economy though (i have a 70 and played for almost 2 years).  Also, prices for things will vary based on server.  The best way to make money in the game though is either by farming hideout drops (dragonskins, direwolves), farming red frags I would think, data tapping in Datamine, and running missions.  For lower levels, missions seems to be the easiest way.

3) Not sure on the /play time amount, but a friend in my faciton went from 20-50 in 2 1/2 weeks.  But that's all he did, all day.

4) It will slow down your progress of course, since you have to spend $info to level up your Compile, Decompile, and the Maker abilities.  I leveled up my crafting abilities as I went too, and it's handier I think to be able to craft my own abilities instead of asking (and most of the time paying) for someone to make it for me.

Hope this helps!  I know others will have opinions too.

Thanks for the help SMILEY

I'm currently affiliated with Zion, though were I to start today, I would probably go with the exiles. Something philosophically appealing about arguing that AIs are valid living beings.

I also get the feeling there is tons of story I missed, I'm going to have to catch up. SMILEY

Archive missions will help you catch up, also check out the MxO: Archive.  Stack made this great resource, and I flip to it every so often to remember things.  The Timeline is also a great resource on the story before/at/since MxO started.

Welcome back to MxO!  You picked a good time to come back.  There is another new construct on the way in the next update in two or 3 weeks!
