#36300463247 06/03/2008 17:05:54 Thanks, but no thanks. Only one person was scammed in the Mask Tournament.
I'm rubbing my temples right now...I hate writing these...but it has to be said, because it's going to escalate into Round 2 if nothing is done.
...I've been a fan of CSR service and the such lately but I'm sorry, I disagree on actions currently taken.

So to the point.  30 mil for a entry into a tournament for the Assassin's Mask.  2nd and 3rd place prizes were also tempting, and worth a 30 million entry fee as well in my opinion.  Those prizes were delivered as promised to the rightful winners, and no one is complaining about that.  Everyone agrees that THAT was fair.  So, were all players who competed scammed? I don't think so.  Yes, most of the contestants were highly pissed off, since no one thinks about winning a 2nd or 3rd place prize.  They were mad that not only were they "punked", but most of us are mad that a good person got punked out an item he deserves.  It doesn't matter who won first place...what matters is that the champion receive his reward.

If it is against CSR policy of not removing items from players and giving them to others, then what is this refund then?  Why ask about a date, time, and who the money was sent to, if that is not exactly what you are doing?  Items and money are nothing more that database entries.

If nothing is done, I'm sending my entry fee refund to the champion, and encourage others to do the same, to make up for where faith in the CSRs has failed this time.

#36300463251 06/03/2008 17:30:00 Sounds reasonable to me.

Props to BlazinWolf.  He's got my respect -- I hope he has yours.

I sincerely hope the other entries phollow your example sir.... you have my respect and gratitude.  This is a very honorable thing you've offered to do, and Blazie certainly deserves something phor all his hard work and effort.  It won't make it completely right, but what you've suggested could make it not quite so painful.

I have little respect for the CSR ban zealots.  But in this case they are only the messengers of injustice, not the authors.

The sad, bitter irony is that the person who did the most to win ends up with the least.  Way to go, SOE, really a world-class decision worthy of Solomon.  With TOS with a wide range of discretion allotted to GMs/admins, it breaks my heart to see such a callous interpretation, with no regard for Blazin, for the other contestants, or for the community.

SOE does not take and item from one player and give it to another. Fine, just make a new assassin's mask and give it to Blaze, problemsolved, no items missing its all good.

And I highly doubt anyone would have a problem with it. Except maybe the scammers

I am not defending them or anything, but they try to do what they see as best to satisfy all players. They can't refund AND give BW a mask so they thought refunding everyone would be better and would satisfy more people.

I wonder more what's wrong with people that try scam others all the time?

Just when you think that people in the community couldn't get any lower something like this happens and for what?  So a few people can claim internet fame for scamming an entire community?  I don't know what's worst the perpetrators of this scam who then brag about it or the fanboys who jump on the bandwagon and support it.  I think one person said it best and let me quote him....

With that said Sony will not change precedence by taking an item from one player who won it officially during a Sony event and then giving it to another player based on a player run event.

However there is nothing stopping Rarebit or the powers that be from righting this situation and making Blazinwolf a new mask.  It is not hard to do, just do it.

To keep it sort and MOD friendly (jury seems to be on the war path these days)

Cap0ne, Ballak, and Zudrag hosted a tournament in which he promised to give away the rarest item on recursion. The prize for first place was to be (as he put it) The Assassin(no 's) Mask, which is the halloween mask not the real deal. However his post to announce the tourney all showed pictures of the assassin's mask, explaining what it is, what it does, and why its special. This made it easy for people to skip over or miss the fact that first prize was not the assassin's mask but just the Halloween mask. Once all was said and done he emailed the prizes and posted a comic making it out that this was his intention from the start.

Naturally people were upset about this, calling it a scam, CS was called in, and a lot of drama came about resulting in what you see now.

Can another mask not just be conjoured up for BW?

No mask is taken from a banned player, the tourney winner gets his prize, and everyone can go about their business.

Is there a cast iron rule that there can only be a certain number of masks per server? If so, is it right to for it to reside with a banned player?

#36300463383 06/04/2008 02:05:14 Re:Thanks, but no thanks. Only one person was scammed.
First off how many people would have entered if the mask that was implied was not the "supposed" prize? i know quite a few players stat hacked and spent about a few weeks learning the Master Assassin tree for the purpose of entering this tournament and winning this "mask" they were mislead.

2nd and 3rd place actually got a decent deal for 30mill but that's not the point, Blazin was obviously expecting the actual Assassin's Mask the fact is he showed pictures of the item and IMPLIED that was the prize. Also it was noted that when the tournament finished he edited the post i wonder what he editied on 05/31/2008 11:22:08?

Its all gone down and there is nothing we can do about it no matter how immoral we may think it is. The quicker it is sorted the better.

The Customer services department have quite a task as whatever they do someone will complain. I agree that Blazin should get a mask even if they give him a shiny new one.

The main problem with giving out another mask is that it could be used as precedent in future messes.

Hmmm there is the possibility that it will open the flood gates but this is quite a legitimate claim but it was a player event not SOE so i can see where they are coming from in offering the $i back then nobody has lost anything im guessing that's what CS are thinking as there could also be up roar about giving out another mask. I wouldnt object but im sure some people would.

The more I think about it, the more I can see why adding another "item", regardless of what it is will cause futher problems. Let's say someone hosts a tourney with a Patchers Bandana as the prize, they don't have/give it, does that mean SOE need to provide the prize from a players tournament? that will be a future precendent that will cause problems if they added a entirely new mask.

What should have been done is the mask taken from Capone and given to blaze, as that's exactly what was advertised, and they are only trying to get away with it on a wording technicality.

I can see the problem the CSR face with that decision the more I think about it, and I'm dissapointed for Blaze on what has transpired. Regardless of what might happen or not, I'd happily send Blaze 30m from my refund of the entry fee, but I think we all know its got nothing to do with the actual info at all.

I hope you enjoyed your laugh at the communities expense Zudrag, Ballak and Cap0ne, enjoy your new found fame as being fraudsters and being the type of community members we could do less with.

#36300463433 06/04/2008 06:00:05 Re:Thanks, but no thanks. Only one person was scammed.

In my opinion, SOE needs to think alittle more as to the outcome of their solutions... Really I know it's your game and all but we pay to play it, and some of us have been around from the start. You want to see another group of players leave the game just cause you wont right someone's wrong? In the past the mistakes of SOE were the reason for people leaving but now you have the power to fix this issue, and not by refunding everyones info. All you need to do is just give blazin a mask, nothing more, nothing less. It will do nothing and it wont cause any problems.

Blazin is so mad right now that he might leave, dispite most of the community backing him up there isn't much we can do. For someone that works so hard to get something that he is promised  and then doesn't get it only gets shafted as SOE tries to please the rest of Recursion, the only thing that would please Recursion is giving blazin the mask, 30 million info is nothing and if I do get the refund, trust me it's going to blazin. I'd perfer if in the future, these problems be handled alittle better, perhaps more time should have been taken on the matter and SOE was just to quick to say no you cannot have your prize....

Reconsider your answer SOE or I feel a few players might be leaving in the near future over something so stupid as a prank...

After /random-gate, the weapons were replaced with Brewko Dolls.  I myself felt they should have been given a Perp to replace the weapon but thats beside the point.  Handing out 'valuable' items would cause problems in the future incase anyone else gets messed over or something.  I do think he should get the Mask though, I'm just trying to look at it from the CSR point of view too.

If decisions are made, if the jury comes back with a verdict that does not reflect the views of the majority then the only logical next step is riot or revolution.

Actually, we both got a little more than Brewko dolls but I do see what you're getting at. Personally I believe that because he went through all that he does deserve the Mask. It really wouldn't be fair if he got thrown a couple of rewards like Brewko dolls after he went through the whole tournament and it's participants, unlike myself and Rik because we didn't actually "earn" the FM-1500's but were given them due to a /random competition, Blazin however has in my eyes and many others earned the Mask and he should get what he fought for.

Easy for you three to say; you didn't win.

I see it from both sides. I don't think SOE can resolve the issue with what we would consider justice, even though they have every right to do so if they choose. It would open the door, however, to future situations where people would perpetrate an opportunity to scam an item/money from SOE itself.

I didnt even particulate.  However people do "win" all the time on internet scams do they not deserver  what their HARD EARNED MONEY  said was promised to them. It was a scam.  I know he and yall "trained" hard for this event. They scammed yall and admitted to it.  If he was given a mask because of a player event whats to stop others from making fake accounts to get some epic item.  As outrageous as that sounds would you really put it past people to do that on a MMO. People do buy fake gold on ebay all the time. Folks will go threw crazy stuff for that one epic item.  Dont get me wrong I do feel bad for yall. Live and learn.

If it was up to me. I would give back all the money that was scammed and Ban/Temp-Ban (depends on how many offenses they did) Then do a SOE sponsored tourney but not for an assassins mask but something less epic just to make it fair. The mask event happened years ago and its now over.  Also in fairness to the other servers host the same style event on the other 2 servers as well. Thats about as close to what I would consider justices in this event. Now to rally the masses to get SOE to say ok we can do that is another story. Granted the dude will have to fight all over again for an item he should have won. It sucks but you really cant please everyone in the world.

Frankly, I don't think Blazin wants his $info back. He doesn't need it. So if you really want to give it all back and make it like it never happened, give him back the month he spent training for the tournament. Oh,I'm sorry, you can't do that? Then how about giving him the prize that everyone who entered the tournament was vying for and he rightfully won?

The most we can do is try to put things back to the way they were before it happened and try to make sure it doesn't happen again (which is a feat unto itself). Unfortunately, there are no easy feel good solutions to situations such as these (even when it appears that there is). It is always sad when a few can bring so many people despair and bad feelings into an environment that should be about having fun.

I see it from both sides. I don't think SOE can resolve the issue with what we would consider justice, even though they have every right to do so if they choose. It would open the door, however, to future situations where people would perpetrate an opportunity to scam an item/money from SOE itself.

The most we can do is try to put things back to the way they were before it happened and try to make sure it doesn't happen again (which is a feat unto itself). Unfortunately, there are no easy feel good solutions to situations such as these (even when it appears that there is). It is always sad when a few can bring so many people despair and bad feelings into an environment that should be about having fun.

sponsor a SOE sanction tourney with reward items being the new loot or an FM-1500 or one of the perpetual items for 1 2 3 places. I think that would help some but not 100% in my opinion. Glad to see yall comment on this event.

You all do know this is a video game and not real money and items that I can use in the real world? Yall got scammed on an epic level. That doesnt mean the kid needs to get a mask. People get scammed on the net all the time that does not mean they really should become the kind of some african country or however that email scam goes. That stuff does and sadly did happen here. Sorry yall all took the bait but as along as you got your money back then I do agree with SOE for once. Otherwise I want a free PS3 and Xbox360 like the sites ADVERTISE I WILL GET. This is all my opinion. You dont have to agree.

And yet you pay real life monies to see these things on a monthly basis.

Yea per month to play a game. I would never buy fake money with real money or a virtual item with real money. I pay for enjoyment not drama otherwise I would turn on TNT they do know drama. Plus you cant use that item or $info in the real world.
