#36300462867 06/02/2008 23:04 EXP gain.
The other day I made a sad attempt to try and mission a  second character to 50. Not a huge deal as most who have more than one 50 might say, but when i think of how slow leveling is, rather, how slow it feels with the monotonous mission structure, and constant "same ol', same ol'" grinding, I realize that there really isn't a point to having an EXP gain system that takes so long...I'm not bashing the game itself for this, but it's true that there really isn't enough Mid-level content to justify how long it takes to level to 50. To cut to the chase; Is it only me that thinks EXP gain should be increased?

1) like I said before, there really isn't enough mid-level content to justify such a long, drawn out leveling process.

2) It would allow all players to experience the community on other servers more easily.

3) A huge percentage of the people I know that ended up quitting this game quit because it was taking so long to level, and they got bored of it. They couldn't experience the excitement of being level 50, and being able to successfully participate in Events or just all out PvP. It's like the game's main hook is at the end.

4) If leveling takes less time for the newcomers and they get hooked on to MxO that means more Money for SOE, and more money income for SOE, means MxO gets more attention, and more attention from SOE means- Hell, I think you get the picture.

I just want to know how the community feels about this. Weather you agree or disagree with certain posts in this thread, i'd like to make this a serious as possible and to avoid flaming to keep this thread on topic.

That's all. <3 MxO.

It isn't difficult to gain experience, just time consuming.  Going along with the OP, yea there really could be more mid-level content to justify the leveling.  Sometimes though, I think people forget about having fun and worry too much about reaching an end goal.  If you take your time to tag hardlines, tag nodes, go through constructs, play contact missions, it is actually pretty fun.  I think many players mindsets are "be the best possible and complete everything" instead of "have fun."

I think a game is truly balanced when instead of having to level in order to experience fun content, experiencing fun content allows you to level.  That said, I've seen few games that really accomplish this.  If you disguise the grind with interesting content then it isn't a problem.  MXO has interesting content (not near enough to be distracted from the grind, obviousely) but since it is a lot easier and more efficient (in terms of gaining XP) to push a couple buttons and run standard missions, some people will never experience it.

All that being said, I don't think XP rate needs to be increased, I think more fun and interesting content for all levels needs to be implemented and shown off.

I am very sorry guys, but i am gonna have to agree with Collbord and Criingey.

The EXP needed to gian levels has nothing to do with this game (except level up, the only thing it is used for.) the rest of the content lies around the entire Mega City. If EXP were the huge issue in this game i would have quit back in closing Beta.

The only thing this game needs to change is maybe a 'little' of the content. i would like to see another part of the Mega City Opened up to explore. like an actual NPC battle ground between Zion/Machine/Merovingian, and then be able to pick a side and/or run some Battle Missions. (You there! go plant this C-4 on the enemy communications!! now!! i will shoot ya buddy!)

Another Idea that would help the leveling process, add a few more Collectors that instead giving buffed clothing/weapons, have them give out Trinkets to add to your characters Fashion Design. Neither have i seen the ability to Customise Clothing. Would like to be able to see a myself in some torn clothing rather then the same old 'oh, not a scratch...cool'.

Just Some idea's to think about for mid-level/End -Game content, but other than 'minor' missing content, the game is perfectly fine, just broadin your search to kill that boredom kids.

double Xp weekends ftw

honestly, i know sooo many ppl who have went ""aaa fack this lvlin crap...boring!"" and left the game

things like double Xp weekend would help new ppl level quicker, keep more ppl in the game

as most ppl say, the game really starts to be fun when your lvl 50
That's the gist of it.
I get bored once I hit 50 on a character cause I cant be arsed to farm all the level 50 gear.  It's boring as, so I start a new char and beging the grind again
