#3630046178605/31/2008 17:01:27Assassin's Mask name change...
Seeing as there are 21 Hallowe'en Masks and it would be more work to change all those names, I thought it would be easier to change the name of the 'Assassin's Mask' to something else (How about 'Porcelain Mask' or more likely 'Assassin's Facemask' this would in turn prevent confusion between the two items and also prevent people exploiting this similarity.
(Keep this civil)
#3630046178705/31/2008 17:04:53Re:Assassin's Mask name change...
How about, Assassin Halloween Mask.
#3630046179005/31/2008 17:09:42Re:Assassin's Mask name change...
I'm fine with that, as long as there is a strong distinction between the two and no confusion can be caused. But to keep the 21 Hallowe'en masks similar, all the other should have 'Hallowe'en' entered in the middle too, so they all match.
#3630046181905/31/2008 18:39:07Re:Assassin's Mask name change...
Haha yeah cos this 'confusion' is going to be a regular occurance.

After the first Comic he did, I wouldn't of believed him.
#3630046182205/31/2008 18:54:19Re:Assassin's Mask name change...
I would find it very hard to get them confused with each other o_o there both diff icons and one shows buffs and the other doesnt o.O But a name change couldnt hurt

Hmm too bad we always seem to use the umbrellas after the storms.

Changing the Halloween version to the "Halloween Assassin Mask" sounds a winner, anyway im sure that tourney was a one off waste of devs time imo
#3630046200206/01/2008 06:32:03Re:Assassin's Mask name change...
I have to agree with Endo, In normal situations those who have the masks know that they have them and will be able to tell the difference (aren't the icons different too?) those who don't are unlikely to see an assassin mask on the market. It's like recycling or selling items, if you pay attention to what you are buying/selling/recycling/trading then you won't have any problems, although I guess the people who may have this problem are newbies who don't know any better...
In situations as recently seen... I guess a name change would be appropriate...

If you read the thread it showed every single detail about the Assassin's Mask.

Yes, I'm sure it did, quite unnecessarily so if the winner was to win the Assassin Mask. The only reason why the details on the Assassin's Mask was in there was to encourage people to take part and to enforce the illusion of what was on offer. Yes there is the highly important "'s" in the name but people do tend to make spelling/grammar mistakes on the forums.
That was a lesson to everyone about checking the fine print and a good example of how to *CENSORED* off a big section of the games player base.

Maybe people should just read more carefully.
I don't think it should be changed to accommodate those who lack the time to read things properly.
#3630046214706/01/2008 10:59:46Re:Assassin's Mask name change...
People should read between the lines, however posting images of the Assassin's Mask IS false advertisement since you obviously had no intent on giving it up.
I could really care less about these mask's. However, I CAN appreciate the plot and situation at hand -- it's not fair to trick people out of such !Info. If it had happened to you, you would be acting the same way, feeling taken advantage of and wanting something to do about it. You can sit there and reply No, I would Lulz and say GF blah blah, the truth is you would be pissed.
In the end, the !Info should be given back to the player's since this was a CLEAR case of fasle advertisement.

here here, to Assassin Halloween Mask.

Clearly, people cannot tell the difference between the Assassin Mask and the Assassin's Mask. Therefore, I propose we change the Assassin Mask to the Assassin's Mask and the Assassin's Mask to the Assassin Mask so that people can tell them apart.

Ok now I am confused.

How can you be confused? It's so simple!
The Assassin's Mask is the Assassin's Mask that the Assassin wore as a mask, and the Assassin Mask is the Assassin's Mask any Assassin can mask. My proposal is to make the Assassin's Mask the Assassin Mask so that the Assassin Mask is clearly distinguished as the Assassin's Mask and the Assassin's Mask just as easy to tell to be simply the Assassin's Mask.

I'm a constructive non-destructive construction construction.

I'm constructive in that I am able to post my point. (The point is that it's ridiculous to force an item name change [edit: based on a possible one-time event at any rate])
I am non-destructive in that I don't attempt to de-rail the thread with off-topic posts.
I build my posts out of laughter.
I am a being.
:D
But for a more serious attempt... Iunno, Halloween Assassin Mask is too long. Why not "Mask of the Assassin" for the uber item and keep the Halloween item's name? I vote for not changing it, but if needs be, Mask of the Assassin '08!

Shouldn't it then be: I'm a constructive non-destructive construction constructor?
I like that name and I agree that the name really shouldn't be changed but its obviously far too easy for people to mistake one for the other, especially on forums where spelling and grammar mistakes are plentiful...

No, the second construction implies that I am a solid being built for a purpose. I applaud your attempt though; you would make a fine Squirrel Logictician given enough practice.
...okay, now I'm off topic. ;)

Oh wait, it doesn't.
#3630046229806/01/2008 15:27:10Re:Assassin's Mask name change...
What Vinia wrote regarding misconceptions due to grammar and whatnot is a valid point, however that does not "justify" what happened with the participants who expected to receive the Assassin's Mask. Perhaps from now on this will encourage people to read more carefully, or even serve as the catalyst for people learning the difference, and not put such blind faith in such a simple circle-jerk.
If this event does encourage a renaming of either item, which may be uneccessary, perhaps it should change the item itself so the Assassin Mask does not become ostracized from the other Halloween masks.
On a side note: Assassin's mask luggable.
EDIT: Forgot the 's on my side note... hehe.
#3630046234406/01/2008 17:59:02Re:Assassin's Mask name change...
I think its fine the way it is. People really just need to learn to type them correctly.
