Aww, almost beat you to it.

So, is that the Neurphyte lightning effect Rarebit mentioned ages ago?

Forget these pills and stuff!

Give us some STORY! Something that we as Matrix fans can relate to. Something that will answer that question that is in everyones head, "Why are we still here?".

Opps, wrong thread.   SMILEY

Nice pills.

Can you add lightning over the whole body?? Like when u die and u have tht lightning or make an FX out of tht XD

Good = Gives people a reason to team up and do critical missions.

It looks cool.  Sometimes I feel that strange visuals take away from the matrix feeling.

I would like to know if it can be traded.

Cool. Adds to the incentive of doing your crits.

#36300451963 05/07/2008 15:32:13 Re:Image Retrieval - May 07, 2008
If I'm reading this right each player will be able to get more than one of these from each mission so long as they are working together with other people.  That is, say a group of six people start the mission once each in order to get six per person.  Unless of course the system is keeping track of which missions you've done and will only give it out once...

looks like the bomb pet with the ball missing XD

Still cool though, IS regain boost is always welcome! ^.^

If the leader of your mission team calls up the latest critical mission, and you help your team complete that mission, you can't run that same critical mission on your own after you leave the team.

#36300451974 05/07/2008 15:51:06 Re:Image Retrieval - May 07, 2008
Not to burst any bubbles but don't we alread have this minus the effect?  I have some memories that is boosters could be coded from the Taskmaster Quick Silver lugs from data mining.

Edit:  Just Checked it code Optimizer Hypo is what i was thinking of.

Hmm,so i'm always doing my critical missions. But now you want us to make a team and do the critical missions!!!!That is.......................genius!
*ends sarcasm*
#36300451979 05/07/2008 16:04:24 Re:Image Retrieval - May 07, 2008
I don't think you need to team up to do them, you can still do it on your own and get the pill/hypo thingy. If you happen to be on a team for a crit then everyone will get one as you won't be able to run it again...

Yeah, I dound this out the hard way.

This is a nice starting point for this critical mission incentive. I'm cusious, too, about the tradablity and termination on death. My guess is non-tradable and gone on death.

I like the animated Image Retrieval. Is this the first animated one?

Looks like the toon in the pic has the decompile 12pt shirt on...

EDIT: Let's consider that if you do your own critical, you can still be on someone else's team to help them and get another. I smell a pyramid scheme...

#36300451984 05/07/2008 16:10:40 Re:Image Retrieval - May 07, 2008
Wait... does this reward work retroactively?  Meaning all the people who haven't been keeping up on their crits will now be rewarded with tons of these IS boosters when the update hits after running all the past crits, whereas those of us of who have been running our crits in the intended timely manner will only have one consumable to last us for the week.  Is that right?

Unless... we run the latest crit for ourselves, and then start asking around for people who haven't yet run theirs, and then join their team... rinse, repeat?

It's starting at the beginning of chapter 10.2 so people won't be able to run previous crits...

Highlighted part is interesting... unless it's gonna be a singleton too...

Nah.  If you don't do your crits, you lose the opportunity when a new chapter hits.

I thought older crits would remain in your mission log until you ran them, either by yourself or with a group.  That is, if your character was playable at the time that those old crits were actually available.  I could be wrong though.

I got the feeling that certain people would be rewarded for not playing a portion of the game by running all their old crits that they failed to keep up on.

Nothing wrong with a little weekly Live Critical incentive to run through the missions.  I hope to see this concept expanded upon in the future.
#36300452051 05/07/2008 21:23:48 Re:Image Retrieval - May 07, 2008
Hmmm... I already try to do my crits shortly after they go live.  I can't say I'm overly excited about this, but at least it seems some people are.

I hate to rain on the parade but in my opinion this is a pointless addition, i appreciate the work gone into this and thanks for new content but i don't see the point and the time crating this could have been spent on something much more important.

I disagree.  Crits are a very important element of MxO.

I welcome this, it's incentive to actually follow the story, which a lot of folks (myself included) have pretty much brushed aside over the past couple of years.

It's only due to running archive missions that I've been able to catch up properly, and I can't believe how much of the story I've missed!

I can't see it taking a lot of Dev time to be honest, be it in pill or hypo form, they have the animations already all they'd have to do is decide on a colour for the pill/hypo dictating it's icon colour then link the animation and 20% IS regen attribute to it upon activation. A few tests and it's done. It's probably a tad more complex then that but the time spent on it is probably negligible compared to any important stuff they're working on.

I would rather wait a little longer for big stuff and have lots of smaller addition in the meantime than have something released a little earlier and having nothing new in the meantime.
#36300452122 05/08/2008 04:36:24 Re:Image Retrieval - May 07, 2008
It's already ingame just a in a different format. Not the best update.
#36300452149 05/08/2008 05:47:36 Re:Image Retrieval - May 07, 2008
IS booster pill  seems like a neat idea but as someone already said, you loose the buff on death? well if thats the case then if I die in mindless-pvp  I have to wait a week to get another pill.. woo hoo. good times
#36300452197 05/08/2008 07:52:38 Re:Image Retrieval - May 07, 2008

I think it's pretty kewl... not great, but nice, anyone would be happy to have a way to get more IS... and a GOOD incentive to keep up on your crits, which everyone should be doing.  I also am curious to phind out if they are tradable or not.

#36300452198 05/08/2008 07:56:18 Re:Image Retrieval - May 07, 2008
This is a fantastic idea. It allows a simple IS regen enhancement for if you decide to go missioning, or simply a one round pvp. A distinct advantage! Slightly.

The effect is also subtle and eye catching, though more so if it was blue. I think you people should appreciate what you get. It's something, and it's a nice something.

Well sorry but i just think its a waste of time that could have been spent on something else.

no matter what anyone does you will never please 100% of people.

either you want to do the crits or you don't a pill that i can use once wouldn't personally make me want to go out of my way to do them.

I am going to wait till I see the Patch Notes next week but so far things are looking good for Update 60.  Datamine may actually become a worth while construct on its own standing.

And I think the devs have knocked up enough pills for the creation of this to be a very quick creation time, and items have been given out at the end of missions before, just now Rarebit will have to add the pill as a reward to each crit and make sure he removes that reward when it is archived.  I dont think a ground breaking amount of time has been spent on these pills.

Though some buffs need to change, the Quicksilver IS buff consumeable or this pill as one of them is going to be rendered useless and the last thing MxO is more useless content.  (Not that the Quicksilver consumeable was widely used before now.  Actually, looking at the Data Mine rewards aside from the Quicksilver Gloves and Overdrive Bandana, are pretty much unused, PSBs were used but now it is hard to find them as they can be destroyed and no one in their right mind would code one.  But this is for another thread.)

#36300452414 05/08/2008 16:25:37 Re:Image Retrieval - May 07, 2008
If Hypo consumables and Quicksilver luggables are the same thing, what makes them useless? Ever think of getting all of that plus this new item to get a ridiculous IS regen?

God forbid me for not jumping up and down with joy for a new pill.

I don't that that the little time spent on making the pill could have spent better :/

It won't have taken that long to make and its a nice little incentive to do crits, what wrong with that?
Besides the way I understand it is that you'll get one per mission. If you do enough of yours and others crits then you could find yourself with a nice little stack of them. Useful in PvP!
Or even for fighting the new construct bosses!
