Woah! big images.

Hmm I wonder what the Architect is up to this time.

#36300451116 05/05/2008 18:25:43 Re:[10.1.5] The human reaction - Recursion - 5/2/08

Jul1a: Sir?

Architiect: Yes, the human reaction.

Later that evening...

Agent Gray: Sir?

Architect: Yes.

So umm... Gray had the human reaction too?  hehe

#36300451121 05/05/2008 18:27:39 Re:[10.1.5] The human reaction - Recursion - 5/2/08
Interesting...appears to be some construct with extremely limited access.  I'm put in mind of the "Path of the One"..like some meeting of the minds that determines what actions to take.  Interesting seeing who was there though.

((black room = in-game substitution for room of monitors?  Not that it really matters, the general point is taken))

So, he talked to Carlyne, Halborn, the Oracle, and Agent Gray...all one after the other? Halborn and the Oracle are dead so it can't all be at the same time...right?

Or are we talking a big master plan of the architect's? O_O

To my knowledge, Halborn is not dead, just unable to access the Matrix.

The Oracle is dead, but as a program I'm sure that another version/backup of her is accessible.

Rarebit may have put them in front of him as well to indicate that the Architect perhaps was thinking about them. Probably just talked to each of them, though, but maybe not quite in the way of appearing face to face with them somewhere.
#36300451136 05/05/2008 19:10:06 Re:[10.1.5] The human reaction - Recursion - 5/2/08

um wow 10.2 seems like it will be rather interesting.

[[Well, Im sure sometime tonight i might actually get all these images downloaded...*sigh* I hate my connection.

Edit: K finally... Quite interesting. But next time, could we maybe go a little smaller on the image size so it doesn't take half-an hour for us poor slobs without broadband to download it?]]

#36300451144 05/05/2008 19:30:18 Re:[10.1.5] The human reaction - Recursion - 5/2/08

Why does a strong feeling in my gut tell me to worry.....? I know the Architect hardly tells us anything....ever, and the other programs are just as secretive and discreet...but...I got a bad feeling about this...and I am usually right....

Perhaps these programs and humans all share a similar past.  The Architect is the father of the Matrix and the Oracle is supposedly the Mother.  Maybe the Architect has his own simulacrum of the Oracle which helps him to discuss decisions with his counterpart. Or maybe that was really the Oracle reconstructed and she is just taking her time out of the simulation to take care of some business in other constructs.  As for Halborn and Carlyne,  I am thinking that they are apart of the few humans that were taken out of the pods, built their muscles up, and then studied maybe to analyze the efficiency of using humans as energy for the Machines compared to nuclear fission and such.  The Architect may have done the same thing with them by creating a simulacrum of their actions and psyche as he might have done with the Oracle to discuss a major plan in action.  This makes you recall the Morpheus simulacrum that still runs rampant in the Megacity that was used to hack into the Zion mainframe.
#36300451147 05/05/2008 19:39:31 Re:[10.1.5] The human reaction - Recursion - 5/2/08
My idea is that based on the characters involved in the disussion the subject may be related to the continued existence of the Matrix as made to benefit the Machines.  Perhaps the Architect is working on a plan to slowly bring the Matrix to an end and resort to other matters of survival for the Machines.  Billions of bluepills will die in the process and I think he was consulting with the programs and humans to discuss the consequences of his plan.

Umm lol?

How can you say that from an event post with only 4 sentences? ( I didnt actually count, just guessestimating) More than likely this IS a stand in for the moniter room since its not in game, and the Architect is looking back on past events. The arrival of Halborn, Carlyne, the death of the oracle, etc. And after the death/kicking out of Halborn the Architect has a chat with Agent Gray. Remember, the war against the Zion hippies and EPN terrorists was put on hold due to the arrival of Halborn and Carlyne, most of the Sentinels were pulled back to 01. With Halborn and Carlyne gone, they can continue with their plan: The destruction of the Zion hippies and EPN terrorists!

But thats just me over analyzing things probably ^_^

PS to Rarebit: If there is going to be another colony of humans, name them The Colonials and rename the Machines to Cylons. Thanks!

Maybe this "Matrix" we've all been jacking into is a simulation of the simulation? Hmm. Or the Architect just took a trip to the Dark Side of the Moon.

(( H'mm, this is tricky. I rationalise the appearance of Live Event posts from an IC perspective as information leaks. But how on Earth could something like this be leaked? I'm not sure whether or not Procurator is supposed to have seen these images in-character. Bah.

Either way, I doubt the Architect was actually having a chat with those people. He's either thinking about them or bringing up images/simulacra of them. Except Agent Gray, he was really there - it's the only moment when the Architect's making any sense. ))
#36300451320 05/06/2008 08:52:05 Re:[10.1.5] The human reaction - Recursion - 5/2/08
I'm surprised no ones theorized the location being "The Source".
#36300451322 05/06/2008 08:56:36 Re:[10.1.5] The human reaction - Recursion - 5/2/08

I think you can look at it like this, Procurator. Something that is intriguing and doesn't give enough details so that the plot can be built around it.My best guess is these are cinematic replacements. And Proc, could operative Procurator have seen what happened in the other cinematics? (was any of us there? nah.)

#36300451345 05/06/2008 10:20:44 Re:[10.1.5] The human reaction - Recursion - 5/2/08
Uh...what?!?
#36300451348 05/06/2008 10:31:01 Re:[10.1.5] The human reaction - Recursion - 5/2/08

[[ On the issue of IC i agree Procurator, not easy sometimes to tell. I think you have to go with context of any information. For instance, we've all seen the movies, but there is an awful lot in them that has only been experienced by one or two characters, and is probably not common knowlegde IC. I'd say the same applies to many of the cinematics. Now that I think about it, I bet this kind of non-participatory LE is maybe Rare's way of getting around the cessation of cinematics.

So yes, it helps build the story for the players, but I for one will not consider it information my character would know about IC ]]

(( Yeah, you and Psilody could be right there regarding this taking the place of cinematics in a way. But no, Procurator - nor any other character as far as I'm concerned - has seen the events in the cinematics, but they probably learned about them pretty quickly though rumours or leaks.

This, though... This is different. Apart from the bit at the start with Julia, nothing in this live event post could have been witnessed or even heard about by anyone else. No one should know about this incident IC, so I can't reply to this IC.

I wouldn't have mentioned it, it's just that I always treat live event threads as IC. SMILEY ))

You beat me too it Gami. That is a good guess. They all must of had something planned, all meaning, Carlyne, The Oracle, Agent Gray, and The Architect.

I think you guys are reading too much into this. The Architect met Carlyne in a secure room (might be the Source, but I doubt it) to ask him to help reinstate the Oracle program.

That's why the Architect is concerned with the Human reaction. Because he doesn't understand it; only the Oracle can do that.

But he brushes Carlyne off as if he owns him. Is it possible that the Intruders were/are just another attempt at controlling what can't be controlled?

I hoped that he would love me,
And he has kissed my mouth,
But I am like a stricken bird
That cannot reach the south.

For though I know he loves me,
To-night my heart is sad;
His kiss was not so wonderful
As all the dreams I had.

That was probably the most confusing necro I've ever seen.
